The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 9

I sit up and wait for him to come to me. After a few seconds he comes through the tree line and stops to stare at me. He looks at me like I am the most beautiful woman in the world and I feel a slight blush come to my cheeks. The man is sinfully sexy. He really is built like a Greek God and he moves like the predator that he is as he walks over to me. His walk is full of confidence and that smirk he has feels like it is just for me. The thought of him smirking that way at anyone else makes me angry. Once he gets closer to where I am sitting, I stand up and close the little gap that’s left between us and breathe in his scent as he takes me in his arms.

“I didn’t know if I would see you or not tonight. I’m very glad that you came Alex.” His head is in the crook of my neck, and I hear him take a deep breath taking in my scent.

“I’ll always show up if it means I get to see and hold you.” He sits on the ground and pulls me down onto his lap. “So, tell me what’s been going on with you, my love.” I lean into him, and he circles his arms around me, then I start telling him about training and the issue with my Alpha voice. I was going to tell him about Zach but decided against it since the issue is handled and I don’t want Zach to end up dead.

“Sounds like you take training very seriously, and I’m proud of you. I have a badass mate. Remind me to never piss you off too bad if we argue.” I giggle and he chuckles then I lean up and kiss him gently.

“I can’t make any promises sir. Seriously though, I do take training very seriously. I’ve heard too many horror stories of women who can’t protect themselves and end up getting themselves or their mates killed. The mate that survives, if one of them survives, is usually so full of guilt and in mourning that they go insane and become rogue or take their own lives. When I was younger, about eight or nine, I told my parents that I wanted to start training. When my father asked me why, I simply told him that I never wanted to be a liability to the pack, my parents, or my sibling. I never want anyone to have to worry about whether I am okay when they should be focused on fighting and keeping themselves and the pack alive.”

When I finish talking, he is suddenly on top of me and kissing me until I can’t breathe. My heart is pounding, and I know with my light complexion that he can see the blush creeping onto my face.

“I’m sorry Freya, but hearing you say all that just made me even more thankful that you are my mate. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to become my mate and Luna. There is something I want to tell you about me but I kind of want it to be a surprise. You will find out at the Mating Ball I am throwing the day before your birthday.”

“You never have to apologize for kissing me. If I had my way that’s all we’d be doing. I was only speaking the truth. I have a friend, Renee, that frustrates me to no end. She doesn’t take training seriously at all and I fear that if we are ever attacked by rogues or another pack, that she will be killed or get someone else killed. I’ve been trying to drill it into her thick skull how important it is to be able to protect yourself, but she is too busy making googly eyes at my brother. I know I shouldn’t say this, but I really hope that they are not mates. I don’t want to lose my brother because she is too stupid to learn to fight. If he died protecting her because they are mates, she won’t have to worry about going insane or becoming a rogue because I’ll kill her myself.” I can feel the anger building the more I think about the situation and my body is literally shaking at this point then suddenly a calm comes over me as I feel his hand going up and down my arm.

“Freya, I can understand how you feel. I have a younger sister and if she was mates with someone that couldn’t protect her.... well lets just say I’d make it to where he had no choice but to learn how to protect her. Don’t get me wrong, my sister is an excellent warrior, but she can’t be running around trying to protect him too. I believe it should be equal.”

“I totally agree with you, and I have no doubt that you could get him to do whatever it takes to protect your sister. Oh and if what you wanted to tell me is that you’re a Lycan you don’t have to worry about it being a surprise. I smelled something was different about you. I’ve only met one other Lycan but that was when I was around six. He was hurt and needed somewhere to sleep for the night. I remember him healing so fast and my parents telling me to leave him alone and let him rest when I kept going in to read him stories.” When I hear a gasp come from him, I look up and see that his face looks like he has seen a ghost. “Alex are you okay?”

“Uh, yes, I am okay. Your story just made me remember something that I hadn’t thought about in a very long time.” He smiled slightly at me like he was still thinking about what I just told him. “Actually, my love, the man that was hurt in your story, is me.”

“Well, I heard that Lycans are practically immortal. Nice to meet you again.” I laugh and he laughs too.

“Nice to meet you again too my love. And the fact that I am a Lycan is not what I need to tell you about me. That is going to have to be a discussion for your birthday though. You should be getting your rest. I’ll see you tomorrow night if you want to see me.”

“I’m not a big fan of surprises but I’m curious as to what you have to tell me. It had better be good and worth all this suspense.”

“The ball is just basically a cover for your birthday party. I can’t tell anyone just yet that I have found my mate. It is my way of throwing you a birthday party and helping some unmated wolves and Lycans at the same time. The minute it turns midnight I know I am going to want to mark you, but I’ll do my best to hold back until you are ready.”

“You are really something else.” I shake my head and smile. “I love that you are doing all of this for me, but it really isn’t necessary. And, if you don’t mark and mate with me on my birthday there will be no sex for you for a month. I’m a virgin so remember I’m good with waiting. As your Luna I’m going to make this ball a yearly thing. Would that be okay with you?”

“If that is what you wish then I will gladly mark and mate you that night after the party. As for the Mating Ball becoming a yearly thing, I have no objection to that idea at all.” Smiling up at him, I start to yawn and feel my eyes drooping.

“Okay my love, it is time for you to get some rest now. Sleep well.” Before I pass out completely, I swear I hear him tell me he loves me.
