The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 62

Tobias must think I’m crazy if he thinks for a second that I’ll just hand over my kingdom to him and his band of idiots. The good news is that he doesn’t know that I have no authority yet or that Alex is on his way back here. The bad news is that if or when he finds out that I have no authority, he may go after the one who does, which is David. The quickest way to hurt a wolf or Lycan is to go after their mate. His mate has already been through enough and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, so anything more could actually break her completely. David says that physically she is back to normal but mentally there is still plenty of work to be done. She has been going to therapy and that seems to be helping. They still haven’t been able to complete their mating ritual yet, but David is very patient and understanding about her situation. He said that he’d waited this long to find her so something like this would not be a reason to walk away. They will get through it together.

Suddenly a loud explosion sound went off near the front of the castle. We all ran out to see what was going on and found people screaming and running away as tons of smoke billowed out over the huge gate that surrounded the property. Realistically nobody can get in once the gate is sealed without our permission unless they know about the secret tunnels, but we had them all sealed after my kidnapping. There is no way in or out without us knowing.

Once the smoke cleared, I could see two figures standing about ten feet away from the gate. One I knew to be Tobias, but the other I’d never seen before. She was beautiful with long hair that would be dazzling if she took care of it properly. Her hair wasn’t horrible but also wasn’t in the best of care. As I look at them, there is a black hue surrounding them both and I know that black magic is being used. Tobias is a full blood Lycan, so I know that this magic had to be coming from the woman. I fix my eyes on her and open up my powers to try and see if I can tell how big of a threat, she will be to us.

A great force knocks me back a couple of feet as I feel her powers. They are great and I don’t know if I will be able to fight her on my own. Tobias smirks at me and it takes everything in me to not run to him and beat the crap out of him. He will pay but I must be smart about all of this and not attack him or provoke him to attack us. I smirk back at him. If only he knew that Alex was on his way back. The smirk on his face falls and he looks at me with a serious expression.

“You can’t win against us, so I suggest you hand over the kingdom. If you do it now, then it will save me the trouble of killing every last one of you. Well, except for you and your mother that is, because I have special plans for you two.”

“I won’t be handing over anything to you, and it will only be you and your band of idiots that will die. I have plans for you too Tobias and they involve you doing plenty of screaming.”

“Does your mate know that you plan on warming my bed? Oh wait, that’s right, he flew into blood rage and has been on a killing spree so he wouldn’t know you’re trying to replace him already. Too bad you waited too long to come to that conclusion seeing as how I’ve already found a new Queen. I’d like you to meet Tabitha, the woman that will help me get rid of you all permanently.” I scrunched up my face in disgust.

“I’d never stoop so low as to allow you anywhere near my body let alone mate with you. The thought alone makes me sick. As for my mate, well I believe that I can save him once I find him.”

“You’ll be dead before that happens. Last chance Freya. Surrender the kingdom or we’ll kill your people. You have an hour to decide.” They both vanish in a puff of black smoke, and I turn to look at David.

His face mirrors how I feel, and I know that unless Alex can get here in the next hour, we are screwed. We start moving faster in getting everyone inside of the castle walls and hiding the elderly and children. An hour is not enough time to get everything done, but hopefully we can get at least that much taken care of before he comes back. The whole time all I can do is hope that Alex makes it in time.

That hope dims the more the timeline dwindles, and I know that I’ll have to come up with a way to at least stall until Alex gets here. David and I headed back to the war room and looked over the map of the area to find the most suitable place to take this fight. The last thing we need is innocent people getting caught in the crossfire. I’m no idiot and know that people will lose their lives in this fight, but if we can make that loss as minimal as possible then we have to do everything we can to make that happen. After looking for an hour, we finally decided on an open piece of land far away from the kingdom. I know that area to be sort of difficult terrain being that there is a swamp nearby and where there’s a swamp, there’s alligators. They don’t bother us and we don’t bother them but if they see a chance to take one of us down, they will without question. Having to watch out for them as well as for Tobias and his henchmen will be a bit challenging. Though the swamp terrain also means there will be difficult for the enemy, so there is the silver lining.

“David? Can I talk to you about something?” He looks up from the map and looks at me before nodding his head.

“Sure. What is it?”

“I don’t want you on the battlefield. I’d much rather you stay back here and be with your mate. We don’t know what will happen out there, and I’d hate myself if anything were to happen to you or your mate. You both just found each other and should get to spend as much time as you can with one another. I know how it feels to only get a little time with your mate before being ripped away from them. I’d never wish that on anyone. Alex may not make it back in time to end this before a fight starts, and I don’t want him to come back to a beta or to the mate of his beta in blood rage.”

“Freya, I get what you’re saying, but there is no way in hell that I will simply let you go off to battle without me beside you until Alex shows up. You’re right that we don’t know what will happen out there, but whatever happens we will deal with it all together.
