David’s POV

We turn the corner and there’s Freya and Alex’s parents along with Shaniece. From the look on her face, I’d say she has been filled in about my mate. I have no time for this nonsense today. I’m only here because the doctor said that Freya may wake up and we need that to happen, because without her we may never get Alex back. I hold tight to Shayla’s hand when I feel her trying to move to hide behind me. After our talk earlier, I refused to let her hide from them or anyone. We will face them together just as we will face anything else in our lives. She gives me a nod telling me that she understands after I mind-link her and now it is time to get down to business.

“Has she shown any signs of waking?” I get right down to the issue at hand. I’m not going to let them focus on my mate right now.

“Why did you bring her with you?” says Shaniece with hostility. I let out a warning growl in her direction.

“She is my mate and will go wherever I go. You will not disrespect her. She is the beta female of the Royal Pack until Alex says otherwise. Now, has there been any change in Freya’s condition?” I direct my question towards the others.

“No signs yet, but the doctor is hopeful she may come out of it soon. She’s talking more. David, Shayla, can either of you tell us more about what happened?” Freya’s mother was the only one to show some kindness during this time. My eyes soften when I look at her.

“Nothing more than what I’ve already told you, Luna. I probably wouldn’t have found her if the Moon Goddess hadn’t guided me in that direction. She had no scent just like now. I was following Alex’s scent, but a pull made me go in another direction and I found her after the Goddess talked to me. She told me that finding one would help me find the other. I found Freya and then my mate appeared in the arms of one of our warriors. She told me that my mate had gone through a lot and to not judge her before knowing everything. I know everything and when you all find out, when she’s ready to tell you, then you’ll feel awful for the way that you’ve treated her. You already know some of what has happened to her, but you have no idea why it happened, though what happened to her should be enough for you all to treat her with some respect.” I shake my head. “Some of you standing here have relatives that have done far worse than she did for nothing and they are still a part of this pack and kingdom, yet she did what she did to save her family and you all want to judge. Doctor, let me know when she wakes up. Until then, my mate and I are returning to our quarters to shower and get dressed for dinner. Unbelievable.” I turn from their shocked faces and am preparing to leave when a nurse comes running towards us shouting. “She’s awake! The Luna is awake and she is asking for the Beta.”

Quickly we all turn and head towards Freya’s room with me entering first. She is sitting up in the bed with an I.V. hanging from her arm and a cup of water in her hand. She is slowly taking sips from the straw and puts the cup down as soon as she sees us. First, she looks at my mate, and I pull Shayla close to me and Freya smiles. “I’m happy you finally found each other David.” Then she looks at my mate and motions for her to come closer. Shayla looks at me and I nod at her before she walks closer to Freya. Freya grabs her hands and smiles at her. “I forgive you. Nothing bad will happen to you or your family if I have anything to say about it Shayla. Alex will be okay. You did what you had to do for your family and I would think less of you if you didn’t.” Shayla looks at her with tears in her eyes and starts to speak.

“There is something you need to know. I didn’t even tell David this part. I was hoping to get caught that day in the palace.” We all looked startled and shocked. She continues talking before we can say anything. “I know about Lycans being extra sensitive to their mates, so when you caught me in the hall, I figured he would feel your distress and come looking but he didn’t come. I realized you weren’t feeling the effects of the tranquilizer yet. Then I took a chance and called for the guys that were supposed to come and get you. We had our scents masked but I thought their footsteps may be heard by the Lycan King. When that didn’t happen, I took matters into my own hands and hit you with the vase when you were distracted. Figuring he would feel your pain and come to investigate, I started having hope. He would come out and catch all of us and then I’d be able to tell you everything and my family would be saved. I didn’t care what happened to me as long as my brothers were saved.” She starts to sob even more and I go to her and wrap her up in my arms. Looking at Freya, I see that she has tears in her eyes as well.

“I’m sorry we weren’t able to help you before I was taken but let me put your mind at ease about one thing. Two of the men that hurt you, are dead, and they died by my hands. They will never harm anyone again. There is one more thing that I am going to do for you now. Come here.” Shayla goes to her and Freya places her hand over my mate’s heart and a blue light begins to glow and spreads over her body. This lasts for a few moments before the light fades and Shayla stumbles a little. She looks at me in amazement.

“David, I’m healed. My ribs don’t hurt anymore, and I think all my bruises are gone. Thank you, Freya.” I watch as my mate gets closer to her and hugs her.

“You’re very welcome. We’ll get into how I did that and other things later but now we need to discuss Alex.” She looks at me. “David, we have a problem. We need to stop Alex before he makes the mistake of killing.”

“Freya, he has already been killing. I can’t reach him. I’ve mind-linked and told him that we found you and you’re alive but in a coma. The problem isn’t Alex.”

“What do you mean?” says Freya’s parents.

“If Alex were in charge, then we could reach him and get him back, but his wolf and Lycan are the ones driving. You see if Alex and his wolf were against this action, then they could overpower his Lycan and be in charge. In this case, his wolf and Lycan are against him and therefore we can’t reach Alex. Khal and Stryker believe we are trying to trick them into stopping their killing spree to avenge Freya’s death.”

“I hear what you’re saying and you are right. My wolf and Lycan are furious and taking the side of their mates even though they know I’m alive. But I meant that we have to stop him before he starts killing innocents.” We all look around at each other before I sigh and look her in the eyes.

“Freya, that has already happened. We’ve gotten reports of rogue villages being attacked. He can no longer tell between the rogues that had something to do with the attacks and the innocent ones. We have to put him down if we can’t get him to see that you are alive.”

“Well, that will be difficult.”

“I don’t mean we would kill him. That is not something I could ever do to him, but we may have to take drastic measures to take him down and hope that once he wakes up, Alex will be in charge and not his counterparts. We need the logical Alex and not the heartbroken and blood thirsty Alex. Also, with you around, he should snap out of the blood rage.”

“That’s not what I mean.”

“What are you talking about then Freya?” says her father.

“I mean, how do you stop a God?”

We all gasped in surprise.

Freya’s POV

They all were looking at me as though I had lost my mind. If the Goddess hadn’t told me herself, I would be looking at them the same way if someone told me that my mate was practically a God. I’m still trying to wrap my head around that fact. While in my coma state, the Goddess visited me a couple more times, so that is how I knew about David’s mate and partly of what Alex had been up to dealing with blood rage. My only hope is that I can somehow reach him, but at this point, unless he sees me in person, I don’t think we’ll be able to convince him.

“Freya, what do you mean my son is a God?” says his mother.

“Well, the Moon Goddess came to me and she told me that Alex is what is known as Goddess Blessed. Meaning he can do almost everything she can but with two limitations. He cannot make a new race and he is not allowed to eliminate any races. Now, it isn’t that he can’t eliminate them, but he isn’t allowed to otherwise his powers will return to the Goddess. She picked him because she said that she looked into his heart and soul and Alex had the purest that she had seen in ages. Therefore, she bestowed the gift to him.”
