Freya’s POV

We all stare as my mate puts his hands on David and watch in awe as the man slowly comes back to life before our eyes. There’s this blue glow all around his body that slowly starts to go out the more his body comes to life. When he sits up with the help of Alex, he asks us what happened, and we all looked at each other to see who will tell him. Alex starts talking before any of us and I’m glad that it is him, and from the look on everyone else’s face, so are they at this fact. Once he is all filled in, he asks where his mate is and if she is okay. The doctor comes in to check him to make sure he is alright and then tells him that Shayla is in a sedated state at the moment. Of course, he wants to go to her, but the doctor says he thinks it is best to recover first before going to see her. That did not go over well with David, and he looked ready to murder the doctor, but Alex told him to go to his mate and told the doctor that David was fine.

While he went to see his mate, Alex started talking to the others and telling them what will happen with Tabitha. Deep down I really do feel sorry for her. She had to deal with the loss of her mate all on her own and that had to be hell. Then to have her coven say that they wouldn’t help her, even though I get why they didn’t, but that had to hurt having your family turn down helping you. Unless you’ve gone through feeling a mate bond, you’ll never know or understand how strong that bond is or what it feels like to have it severed due to death or rejection. At least with rejection the pain is temporary, but when your mate dies that is a totally different experience. I’ve seen the surviving mates when the other dies and they are completely devastated. Some lose their minds, some go catatonic, but the worst cases all go into blood rage and that means plenty of death and destruction. Thankfully, Alex was able to sense her and get his father to get to Shayla before she destroyed more than her room. She would not have wanted to have someone’s death on her conscience.

My mind drifts to how we almost lost David, all the warriors we did lose, and to the people following Tobias. I remembered the conversation I had with Shayla before leaving for the war. She said that she had family members that were being held captive. Apparently, Tobias kept them prisoner to keep her in line when he raped her. We need to get her family and any other prisoners out of there, as well as capture anyone else that was working for him and bring them to justice. There is still so much work that needs to be done but I am already exhausted. I feel arms wrap around my waist and a soft kiss is planted on my marking spot that sends tingles all over my body, and I lean into his chest. Looking around the room, I noticed that everyone had already left.

“Mmmm I’ve missed being in your arms. This is the best place in the world to me.” He leans down and kisses my lips gently and I turn in his arms before wrapping my arms around his neck and deepening the kiss. He pulls back so we can both catch our breath.

“I think we should take this to our bedroom unless you’re okay with giving the staff a show.” He smirks and I smile at him.

“Definitely don’t want to give a show, although I think if we were in the porn business, we would make a ton of money.” I burst out laughing at the shocked look on his face.

“I didn’t know my little mate was a porn star. I cannot believe you lied to me about being a virgin when we met.” He put a hand over his heart feigning hurt and shock and that only made me laugh even harder. This big strong man standing there looking at me like that was very comical.

“Well, you know I do have magic powers.”

“You’re right and I hope that you will never use them on me again. Think of all the fun we could’ve had if you had told me you were a porn star in the beginning.” He wiggles his eyebrows at me and I giggle.

“Calm down sir. There will be no Christian Grey stuff going on here. Well maybe. As much as I love flirting with you my love, I am in desperate need of a shower. I promise not to use my powers on you if you allow me to shower now.” I smirk at him.

“Hmm, how can I pass up that offer. I managed to use my powers on you without you knowing. I must be getting good at this.” He smirks and I look at him confused.

“How did you use your powers on me?” He pulls me close to him wrapping his arms around me again.

“I managed to get you to want to take your clothes off without touching you.” I burst out laughing.

“I said I wanted to take a shower, so your powers had nothing to do with it.”

“It was mind control. You weren’t thinking about a shower until I planted the idea.”

“You have that power?” My curiosity peaked.

“No. At least I don’t think I do, but even if I did, I would never use it on you or anyone.”

“That’s good to know. Okay time to head upstairs and take a shower. I’d like to relax a little before dinner.”

“I have the perfect way to help you relax.”

“Oh, you do. And what way is that?”

“You’ll have to wait and see.” He smirks at me before scooping me up and running up the stairs to our bedroom with me laughing the entire way.

Later that night, we were all dressed and sitting at the dinner table. Davind and Shayla were there and that made me happy. We almost lost him and in turn almost lost her. My parents, brother, Shaniece, Renee, and Ethan were all looking happy as well as Alex’s parents. I was glad that we didn’t lose anyone, but at the same time very sad about all the lives that we did lose. I turn to Alex when I feel him touch my thigh to get my attention.

“What are you thinking Freya?”

“I’m wondering if there is a way to save those who died like you did for David?” He looks at David and then back at me. For what seems like a long time he doesn’t answer, but I know that he is thinking.

“Honestly, I have no idea. I’m sure that I could but it would take a long time and I’m not sure if there is a time limit on how long they can be dead before I bring them back. I wouldn’t be against attempting it, but the process would be better if I could do it all at once instead of individually.”

“I hadn’t thought of that, but maybe I could help. The Goddess did say that my powers are almost the same as yours. Maybe I could be like a power generator and give you a boost so that you could do more than one person at a time.”

“That could possibly work. Maybe we can ask the Coven of Light witches what they think. I’m sure they would know about power boosting.”

Suddenly, five women walk into the dining room and one of them starts talking.
