The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 77
After turning off the car, he gets out and walks over to the steps and the man he assumes to be the Beta, walks down the stairs to meet him. The man is silent with a blank expression on his face. Two of the guards move behind him in a flanking position. When he sees this, he starts to get nervous and wonders if they are going to hear him out or arrest him. He has heard of the reputation of the Lycan King. When it comes to his subjects, he is very protective, but when it comes to his family the man can be downright ruthless. He also heard that the man is a fair king and far better than that great-great-grandfather of his. That man just killed without question, but Alexander had a trial letting his special abilities decide guilt or innocence instead of a jury.
The man takes a deep breath and waits for the Beta to stop moving before speaking. “My name is Dylan Thompson of the Red River pack. I am here because I have information that I think the king will be interested in knowing.”
The one he assumed to be the Beta looked at him with a blank expression and then crossed his arms over his chest before turning to the two guards behind him giving them a slight nod. They proceed forward and start to search Dylan for any weapons or anything harmful. Dylan stands there and allows the guards to do their jobs, and when they walk back behind the Beta, he can see everyone visibly relaxed.
“Dylan, I am David, the Beta of the Royal pack. Forgive me, but with the state of things at the moment, we cannot be too careful with whom we let into the palace to see the king. Is there any way that you could tell me what you wish to talk to him about?”
“No disrespect, Beta David, but I think it would be best if I talk directly to King Alexander. I know that he has powers that allow him to know if someone is telling the truth or not, and I can’t take the risk of you not believing me and then something bad happens later. There is also another matter of my pack that I would like to discuss. As far as that goes, well I guess I can tell you. Ever since Alpha took over from his father, the pack has been going down. Nobody wants to talk about what’s been happening, but nobody is happy there. We can’t leave because none of us want to become rogues. Some have tried but nobody will take anyone in from our pack, so they end up coming back. All he does is spend money on partying and women, he neglects pack duties, and though he is a great fighter, he lacks discipline in every sense of the word. We need help before there is no more pack.”
“As far as your pack is concerned, this is definitely news to me. We’ve never had any complaints come in about that pack even from neighboring packs but hearing your explanation now I see why. I can see to this matter without the King and I’m sure he’ll agree with me. One thing he hates is an Alpha that mistreats his pack. Alphas are supposed to care for his pack as an extension of his family. They are not to be mistreated and neglected. What is the Beta like there? We should move this conversation into my office and finish talking while we wait. The King will be back shortly. We’ve sent a message that someone is here with information for him. He was with the construction crew helping so he wanted to shower and change before meeting with you.” David turns and some of the guards flank him while some go to flank/surround Dylan and they all proceed through the castle doors heading to David’s office.
“The beta is like everyone else there. I do believe that if the Beta left, plenty of us would leave with him, but he says he can’t leave because as Beta he must stand by his Alpha. The man is loyal, but his loyalty is greatly misplaced. He’s a good man and the second greatest fighter in the pack, he may even be better than the Alpha, but he won’t challenge him.”
“Are they scared for their lives? I mean is he abusing any of the pack members? Are any of them being starved or imprisoned? I’m asking these questions because we raided a compound where these things were going on and if that is happening then we need to move a lot quicker in getting your pack some help.”
“Everyone is a bit underfed due to him spending money on all the wrong things. We used to get shipments of food and other supplies that the pack needs on a weekly basis when his father was in charge. When he first took over, things were fine, but I think that is because his father was watching him the first year. After that first year of him being in charge, everything slowly started to go downhill.”
They entered David’s office and Dylan was shown to a seat in front of the desk and David took the seat next to him. Normally he would have gone to sit in his desk chair, but since the King was coming, he opted to sit in one of the leather mahogany colored wing backed chairs that sat in the front of his solid oak mahogany colored desk. There was a pad on his desk, so he grabbed it along with a pen before he sat down to continue talking to Dylan. This was a serious matter, and one that he planned on looking into as soon as possible. He didn’t need the king’s permission for situations such as this, because as the royal Beta, he had the authority to take care of these matters without the King. The only reason he consulted with Alexander first is because that was how they liked to operate. Alexander insists on knowing what is going on in his kingdom and all the packs under him.
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention. With so many packs to run sometimes it takes a while to get to them all, and that is not an excuse for us not knowing about this going on there, but that is why our king has made it clear that if something is going on someone should speak out. He will not turn people away or punish them for speaking unless what they have to say is lies. I’m glad that you did though. As soon as we...” David stopped talking and his eyes glazed over from receiving a mind-link.
“David where are you? I’m done getting dressed and heading downstairs towards the offices.”
“Awesome, because I am in my office with the young man that has the information.”
“Did he tell you anything?”
“He refuses to tell me about whatever it is because he said he would rather tell you since you can tell if he is lying. Doesn’t want to tell me and risk me not believing him and something bad happens is all he would say about that matter. There is another matter, but we can discuss that when you get here.”
“Okay, I’ll be there in two minutes.” The link is cut, and David looks back at Dylan.
“Sorry about that, but the king will be here in about two minutes.”
“No problem. I’m just glad that he is even seeing me and that you listened to the issues of my pack.” Before David can respond, the door opens and in walks the king. Everyone stands and bows as he enters the room and moves behind the desk.
“No need to thank us. That is what your king is supposed to do. Now tell me what issues you are talking about within your pack and what pack are you from?” The king sits down and everyone else follows while the guards go back to their post outside of the door.
Dylan launches into the details of what has been going on within the pack. The more he talks, the angrier Alexander gets but he keeps a blank expression on his face while his fists are balled up tightly under the desk. If this keeps up, he may have to get David a new desk. Thankfully the guy didn’t say that the women and children were being beaten or sexually assaulted but to not have enough food is bad enough. This matter has just moved to the top of the list of problems he will be taking care of along with the reconstruction. When Dylan finished speaking, Alexander looked at David.
“David, you know what to do.”
“I’m already working on it Alpha.”
“Dylan, you don’t have to worry about your pack. This matter will be taken care of, and things will be better.”
“Thank you, your majesty. They weren’t lying that you can sense the truth, so now I can tell you the urgent matter that brought me here.”
“Before you continue, I don’t think you told me the name of your pack.”
“Oh, forgive me. I am from the Red River pack.” At the mention of the name of the pack, a smirk comes onto Alexander’s handsome face before his eyes glaze over.
“Freya, I need to see you in David’s office.”
“I’m still working. Can it wait?”
“No, I’m afraid that it cannot. It looks like I may get to kill that young man from Red River after all.” He cuts the link before she can respond and sits up straighter in his chair.
“Dylan, please go ahead with the urgent matter. My mate will be joining us shortly in regard to the matter we’ve already discussed.”
“Okay. Well, I was hunting in the woods for something to cook for dinner, when I overheard two people talking. Normally I would keep walking and mind my own business, but my wolf told me to keep listening. I don’t know who the Lycan was, but he was talking to a dark witch. I know their kind by the smell they carry. Sadly my mate was a dark witch and as much as I loved her, she wouldn’t change, so I rejected her, and we went our separate ways. I heard that she eventually died from a spell gone wrong. Anyway, they were talking, and I heard them saying something about finally having the last component they needed for one of the two spells they will be casting on the next full moon. The Lycan mentioned your mate saying that she was meddlesome and spoiled the plans he had for his daughter and family. The witch showed him a vial and he started laughing saying to make sure they are ready when it is time. The witch said that he better be ready because the timing had to be perfect, and they can’t even be a second off or the spells won’t work.”
“Did you hear what the last component for the spell is?” Dylan took a deep breath because he felt like he had been talking nonstop.
“Yes, I did.” He looked straight into the Lycan King’s eyes as he said the rest. “The last component your majesty is your blood.”
