Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 108

Ria

We were all gathered around several tables, making it sort of look like some kind of board meeting. Several people had paper and pens including Kova, it seemed like he felt he should help to facilitate getting everything sorted out and organized somehow.

“Okay, how about we start like this. When Elizabeth found Kaskae and rescued him, after they mated Elizabeth explained how she had come to be alone in the Canadian Territories. He noticed at that time that a lot of the beliefs she’d been taught were very different from anything we had ever been told by the dragons we had met over the many years.” He glanced around at all of us getting nods.

“That was the main reason for all of her family to visit. We were supposed to sit down and speak, like this, about all of the discrepancies and try to ferret out where the information had come from and when things had changed. Now, alongside that, we have another issue. That is of David being Ria’s biological father, and the tragedy and treachery that had taken her from him along with his mate many years ago.” Again we all nodded.

“I think we should start with the whole reason for the situation with both Ria and Elizabeth to begin with. It is the fundamental beliefs held by her fathers that have caused some of this. Those beliefs have been ingrained in them, and they are the opposite of anything I had ever heard before. So, although this will be extremely painful, know that we do not seek the information to judge or to condemn. We are family and here to find the root of the problems and fix them.” We all looked at one another, knowing this was going to be difficult.

“Drago, as the head of your family, would you like to be the one to explain to us?” Drago nodded though I could see it was hard for him.

He cleared his throat, “My brothers and I had always been taught that Royal Dragons were unique and set apart from other dragons. That our duty was to protect our people and work with the government agencies to rid the other species of rogues that were hurting them. Along with that was the sharp decline in the birth of dragons in general, but the catastrophic decline in the number of female dragons born. No Royal Dragon Females were being born anymore, the last we knew of was our mother more than 200 years ago. We were taught that Royal Dragon Males can only ever mate and breed with a Royal Female dragon. We are taught that when mating our female we bite her, and then make love to her, and that is what cements the mate bonds.”

David and Pyre were both sputtering and looking alarmed and appalled at what he was saying, “David, could you please let us know why you and your sister have this reaction to what was said?”

“There’s no such thing as a Royal Dragon. Yes, some dragons have more gifts and abilities than others, but there has never been any type of distinction between social classes of dragons. Also, female dragons are highly allergic to our venom, biting a female can cause horrific and sometimes irreparable damage, going so far as to kill the dragon, even if it doesn’t kill the woman.”

I was left stunned and just blinking as were all of my mates, I couldn’t wrap my head around what he had said. However, with what we had learned of the mattings and what happened with our daughters, what he is describing is exactly what happened to them when the guys bit them.

Kova looked back at Drago, “Can you explain if you know where perhaps the beliefs came from? Was it just passed down to all of you from your parents? Do all of the people of your village share in these beliefs?”

“Yes, we were taught this by our parents, and we knew our grandparents briefly, they were our father’s parents. Our fathers were brothers just as we mated as a family unit as well. This was always spoken of in our family.”

David suddenly got a stunned look on his face, and he glanced at his sister briefly, both of their eyes huge, “Drago, I just remember you said that you work with the government agencies to take out rogues. What government agencies are you talking about?”

Drago looked confused as did my other mates, “The supernatural investigation division of the FBI and CIA is who we have always gotten our assignments and all of our information from. They also are the ones who make sure we always have the equipment we need, and have access to other teams of different types of supernaturals that also work with them. They coordinate pretty much everything.”

“Are there government officials who help facilitate between you and the agencies?” Pyre asked him.

“Yes, we have several senators that we work very closely with. We have had many meetings with them on many occasions. Also, when one gets too old a new one will take their place, and that keeps the contact going.” This was getting so incredibly weird.

“Drago, have you or your brothers ever physically stepped foot into their office? Have you been to their location in Washington D.C. and actually walked into their office or seen other Senators or Representatives there doing their whole government thing? Have you been inside their FBI or CIA offices?” I was starting to get very nervous about where this was going.

“No, they have always come to us. We have phone conversations, we do a lot of video meetings, and then they come to us at our home sometimes. It was the same way with our fathers, we passed the baton so to speak like that.” Drago looked to be having trouble figuring out what was happening.

David and Pyre shared a very loaded look between themselves and they both looked extremely distressed, “Okay, obviously you two know something, and asking those questions has now cemented something in your heads. So, can you please, let us know what is happening?” I asked, looking directly at David.

He closed his eyes and hung his head and just shook his head, “I think I know how this bullshit started, and I will explain some things, the first thing you all need to know is that the agencies you thought you worked for don’t really exist. They are not part of the true government.”
