Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 111
Drago
To say my brain had ceased to function correctly would be a gross understatement. We had in essence, just found out our entire lives had been a lie, and manipulated by evil men. I wasn’t honestly sure where to go from here, and then suddenly something occurred to me.
“Ash, contact Roman, give him an excuse about checking in on the family and letting us know for sure they are doing okay. We need him to talk to Dragori and get a heads-up about what’s happening. He needs to put the town on alert and needs to coordinate getting people into the shelters. So, in case things do go to fucking hell, at least they won’t be caught completely off guard.”
Ash nodded and immediately got up pulling his phone out of his pants to call him. I just looked at Ria and she looked at me knowing so much was imploding. Then I saw her get a look of absolute panic on her face. I reached out automatically and she grabbed my hand.
“Drago, what about all of the species or rogues that you all didn’t kill, that were supposedly put into some type of supernatural prisons?” I knew immediately what she was thinking of.
“David, do you guys know if indeed there are prisons set up for containing supernaturals that might possibly break the law or hurt people?”
“Ah, no, I have always found that most supernatural species police themselves. Now, occasionally there are issues with a member of that type of supernatural that will be stronger or perhaps harder to take care of. Then either they will call in more of their own species, or contact another stronger species for assistance. But, as I had said, there’s no supernatural agency that oversees all of this stuff, so they wouldn’t have ever set up some type of prison system, they don’t actually work for the government so they wouldn’t be able to do anything official anyway. They would be more likely to recruit the evil ones than kill them off.”
I just dropped my head into my hands, I couldn’t think about all of this right now or I might legitimately lose my mind. My dragon was already really upset about shit going down. Now, finding out our whole family was probably in danger had him ready to kill people, and we actually might have to.
“So, in essence, we have probably been helping to eliminate these people’s enemies for over a hundred years, and our whole family did the same before that. The rogues they have had us going after are probably not even rogues. Also, all of the bastards that we had thought we helped to put away in a prison somewhere are probably helping them in truth.” I just shook my head.
I grabbed Ria’s hands, “Baby, I swear to god, I won’t let them hurt you again. We will do what we have to do to protect you, and our whole family. When we get all of this squared away, I will personally hunt their asses down and take them apart piece by piece and give them to you as a present.”
She actually smiled, though it was weak, “A present, huh? That would probably be one present I would cherish, their heads on a platter has a nice ring to it.”
David looked at her and he got a dark look on his face, “Who do we need to kill?”
She smiled a bit at him, “That is a very long and drawn-out answer I am afraid, and it is rather involved, and extremely dark and painful. I’m not sure how much we can all take right now. I mean discovering your whole life has been a fucked up lie is rather a huge blow.”
He tilted his head, “I have a feeling this is going to be something I need to know. Not only because I will very much avenge you, but I also wonder how much of all of this bullshit was responsible for your mother’s death, and whatever evil has been done to you.”
She nodded, “Fair enough, I’m sure you are more right than even you know. So, we will talk about it, but we need to take things in bite-sized pieces. I think we need to make some coffee or do something normal. I am worried about all of my children and the people around them right now. We’re going to need to get to them.”
She looked at me, “Yes, we’re going to be going to them as quickly as possible. David, perhaps it would be good for you to come and meet all of your grandchildren, and that would allow you and Ria to talk, well, all of us really, it sounds like it’s going to take quite a while to wade through all of this fucked up shit.”
Ash walked back into the room, “He’s heading there now to talk to Dragori, he will also speak with the rest of the city council to have them coordinate getting people ready to head to the shelters.”
I nodded, “That sounds good. So our next item is figuring out how to head home and get to the kids as quickly as possible. Do we have to worry about anyone who might be watching either coming here after we leave, catching us en route, or trying to beat us home or some other nefarious bullshit?”
“Drago, when I was down in the control room with you, you had dossiers on some people that we legitimately knew were killing people and shit like that, so you had legitimate information. Constantine was legitimately pulling up information on these bastards.”
I nodded, “Yes, we were legitimately looking for people who had done verifiable bad fucked up shit. Some we did take out, but most we helped to apprehend, or we found where they were and then handed it off to another team for pickup, so who knows how much was actually taken care of that we didn’t do it ourselves.”
“Drago, you can quite legitimately drive yourselves crazy with trying to figure shit out. The important things are that you know now, and we can fix this shit going forward. Kicking yourself solves nothing. So, now you know, now you do something about it. I think I heard that there are other “Royal Families” that you work with. So, we need to let them know the truth as well. So, now, let’s find out how to protect my daughter and my grandkids.” David looked at all of us as he said that.
