Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 123
Ria
“Okay, so we got there in that timeline, now I want to go back to my individual timeline that has to do with you, your mom, and Collette.” David nodded at that.
“Your mom and I had been mated for almost 50 years before she finally got pregnant with you. We were so incredibly happy, we didn’t even care if you were a boy or a girl. The day we had an ultrasound and it showed you were a girl, your mom cried, and she immediately came up with using the name Mirien somewhere in your name.” I had to breathe through all of this, thinking about how much I missed out on.
“When your aunt started to try and say I should have chosen her, your mom said there had always been issues with Collette being jealous of anything she ever did. Even though she was the younger sister, Colette constantly tried to outdo anything your mom did. So, when I was in the picture that whole mentality I guess got dumped onto me and your mom’s relationship. I was never, not even once, even slightly interested in Collette. She seemed really off to me, and later your mom confessed that she believed she had a mental illness, which now we know was absolutely the case.”
“What about my grandparents? Did they notice the dynamic and just decide to do nothing? Did they know she was sick?”
He sighed, “The mentality of that time period was very much that mental illness was just something you didn’t discuss, like it was shameful, they constantly excused her behavior, and after we mated, they continued to try and say we just should give her a little grace and not pay attention, they were angry that we cut off all contact. That led to us needing to cut them out of our lives as well. When Nicoletta died, I reached out briefly, but they sort of took Collette’s views, and so they too got cut out. I honestly have no idea what happened to them or where they might be.”
I nodded, deciding to leave that there, I wasn’t sure they were anyone I would want to have anything to do with either, “Okay, so we know that Collette was probably the one in the truck that caused the accident, but she could have hired someone. The ending was that she had me, and now my mom was dead. When you didn't react how she wanted, you became this ultimate thing she pined for. She told me you were dead, and I thought she was sad you had died, and that was why our house was a shrine to you and she was so sad all the time.”
“You said you were 4 when she met that other guy right?” He asked and I had to pause for a second.
“Yes, she met Braun Zavitnik and then married him within 4 months, and we moved into his mansion of horrors. She started taking drugs, and I basically hardly ever even laid eyes on her after that. Even when she gave birth to my siblings, I don’t remember seeing her walking around the house pregnant. She was in her room all the time, that’s where she stayed. So, I have no idea really what was going on with her, the only times I saw her right after they had been married she was high as a kite though.”
He nodded, “So, how old were you when she died?”
“I was 11 when she died. She had made a will supposedly that put me in the custody of Braun, so with that I didn’t go into foster care, even though he never legally adopted me. Of course, like I said he had a very well-connected and influential family, so I am sure he could have pulled whatever strings were needed to keep me anyway. I was here when Drago introduced me to the control room. It just so happened that they were working on a murder case attempting to find the man responsible. When I helped Constantine hone his search, we got more info. When the dossier came up I recognized the signature puzzle that was next to the victim. I worked it out for them, gave them his name, and then asked how the fuck he still looked 25 when I had known him way back as a kid, and he looked exactly the same. Come to find out he was a dark fae, so that meant his brother Braun would also be a dark fae. That’s how we found out about that. Then supposedly there was some operation launched, and Christofer and Braun were in a supernatural prison somewhere.”
He reached over and took my hand, as he knew with that last tidbit I was having more trouble maintaining. Finding out that supernatural prisons didn’t even exist, meant that they were both out there somewhere, and running around free.
“I’ve already promised you Ria, and I will reiterate, I will be hunting down those mother fuckers, and making them pay, and pay painfully about what they did to you.” I nod and squeeze his hand back, just breathing for a minute.
“Well, however it happened, he was arrested when I was 14, and I was put into the foster care system as I wasn’t of age. I honestly thought it would be great. The first time Joshua climbed into my bed and assaulted me, I knew I was still in hell, just in a different version of it. Then his dad Richard joined the party. So, it wasn’t long till I ran. I was on the streets for quite a while, working my way around at odd jobs, eating out of garbage cans, sleeping where I could find a corner somewhere with my back protected. Sticking with others that seemed safer sometimes. Utilizing shelters on occasion, especially when the weather was bad. That was how I met Maggie up in Broken Bow, the weather up there was rather brutal, and I stayed in the shelter several times. I had convinced the woman running it that I was 18 and ran from an abusive boyfriend. Maggie told me she knew I was younger, and she didn’t want me going back out on the streets. So, she said she had a friend Elizabeth Dayton, that I just had to meet. So, then I met Beth, and everything changed. I had finally found a mom and a home, complete with siblings.”
“Okay, let's take a break and go get lunch. Then how about we go to the solarium after that to work there. Being around nature helps you, and I think you need that. I nodded, and we got up to go take a break.
