“So, according to the guys they had thought that there were 5 Royal Dragon families left in the world. The Escarras down in Argentina, the Landry’s up there in Canada, the Diamani’s in Cape Town South Africa, the Patels in New Zealand, and the Balaurs here in Romania. Each of them has a setup very much like this as far as I know, meaning there’s the family in a large house or castle, and then they have a town of dragons they are responsible for. Each family consists only of brothers by blood, Natalia was adopted by the guy’s parents. 

David nodded following along, “Okay, so, each of these families is desperate to not let their town die out, and they have to replenish the race, and yada, yada, yada, so that is a whole spiel that has been hammered into their heads, and now we know where that came from.”

Again he didn’t say anything, just nodded in acknowledgement, “So, they had set up the whole thing with me. They had planned to woo me or whatever, with Natalia being my friend, and eventually when they got me to agree to mate with them or whatever, they would tell me about dragons and about my own dragon, and all of that whole thing.” 

I took a deep breath, “Well, I had been there a month when Natalia asked me to have a movie night with her, we would just veg out and watch movies while eating junk food. I was leery at first as she’d started dropping hints about her brothers. However, that night had been going perfectly. We were watching movies and eating junk, she got up to grab us sodas, and she brought me one. I never in a million years would have been suspicious at that point. However, soon it was apparent something was wrong, and when she pushed me back down on the couch instead of helping me, and I saw that soda bottle I just knew, she’d drugged me.”

I heard a deep growl and looked over to see David fighting very hard to maintain control, I didn’t usually have much physical contact aside from the direct family and Isobel, but I reached out and touched his hand. He turned his hand over and clasped mine in his. I was surprised at the warm current that flowed between us. I hadn’t felt that with my own kids, so I wondered if my kids felt that?

After a few minutes, he nodded, “Well, I don’t really remember any of the other parts, I only have hazy images, I only know what they told me later about what happened after that. They told me that they took me to their private plane, each took turns biting me and then mating me and claiming me. I woke up in Romania in bed with all 4 of them and lost my shit.”

David tipped his head back and I saw his hands fisting and unfisting over and over, and I could very well understand that. “They tried explaining everything to me. They explained that they were dragon shifters and so was I, that the whole town was. They told me they had to prevent a war as they had gotten a letter from the Escarras, the one I had told you about, and they were responsible for taking care of the safety of their people, and they loved me and yada, yada yada, which as you can imagine, I didn’t respond well to any of that. In fact, I scaled the wall and ran like hell. Unfortunately, the only car I came across was their driver and Natalia was hiding in the back seat, and she stuck a needle in my neck, drugging me for a 2nd time.”

“That night Senator Keeting showed up with a file. It showed the auto accident that I supposedly died in, and a newspaper picture of my devastated family along with an article. Then he explained they had erased me basically. I was dead, so anything associated with me showed me as dead and I would never be able to go home again. I again lost my shit. Then a couple of days later, surprise, you’re pregnant, so yeah, that happened. Then I threw myself off the battlements. Drago's dragon caught me, and they put the cuff on me so I could never do that again, I could never leave, and I could never harm another dragon. Thus started this whole saga with us. That was when I was pregnant with the triplets, and the only set of triplets supposedly ever conceived by dragons, but with all of this other coming out, who knows if that is even true.” 

“Okay, I need to ask now. What happened to Desi? I know there’s a ton more I need to know, but with everything that was said in the village, your reactions to what I said about venom, and the way Elizabeth had talked about everything to Isho. I need to know what happened.”

I could feel a tear fall down my face, “Okay. Well, when I was still pregnant with the triplets, and we knew they were girls, the guys had set up a meeting with the other Royal Dragon families, and they came here, all except the Patels who refused. They were supposed to start having better cooperation so they could take care of missions and rogues that were crossing boundaries between different continents and family territories. So, with that there was an agreement signed, completely unknown to me. I found out right before the families all left, the last night at dinner, I found out they had signed an agreement for the girls to mate with these dragon families at the age of 18. I argued, and I said they were all making a mistake, that they would break them, and that it would be a disaster, but none of them believed me. They thought I was just an emotional mom who didn’t want to lose my daughters.”

“I fought with them for 18 years to no avail. Then when they were all taken I was right it was an utter disaster. Now, we understand more about what happened that at the time none of the guys could understand. Desi reacted like it was paralytic when they bit her, and Mari had almost as bad a reaction when they bit her. Elizabeth got away from them, but we can talk about that later. Desi and Mari were broken. Desi’s dragon died, and Mari’s went dormant. Desi was so depressed that she sliced her arms open, and with no dragon, she didn’t heal, and she died. Mari dissociated, and we took a long time to get her well and get things back on track for her. Elizabeth ended up meeting her mate, thank god. So, yeah that wasn’t all that long ago.” 

David nodded, then he got up and walked out of the room. I had a feeling he was going to find my mates.
