Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 93
Eli
I told him the whole thing, from the time we were 13 years old and our fathers had lowered the boom that they had sold us to the other Royal Dragon Families, and how my sisters and I reacted. I told him about all of the years the other families came for birthday parties and how we tried to push them away and avoid them. I tell him about my brother Brand and how he supported us and tried to help us find a way out of it.
I told him about my mom, the information we found out about her, and how bad I felt that I couldn’t save her. I told him about the absolute worry I had for my other sisters who were in a similar situation. I explained about me having a gun to make sure I was protected and they couldn’t rape me, and my plan to escape into the wilderness, and hopefully find some nice tribe of people to help me.
He was angry and incredulous about the whole damn thing, “So, you faked papers to show you had a hysterectomy, so that they wouldn’t push the mating before you could get away? How the hell did you manage to fake medical documents?”
I laughed, "Well, I am fairly good with computers, so it wasn’t actually all that hard to research while at school, and things about medical forms, see medical forms that had been uploaded or pictured, and make a copy of some, put in my information, and make a set that would be believable for them to see.”
He laughed and kissed me, “You are exceptionally smart my love, and I am very, very happy and grateful that you got away from them, and then found your way to me. I am very alarmed to discover that your family believes they can only mate with other dragons or breed with other dragons. It has not been that way any time I have known, and I have known several dragons, a couple of which had very powerful gifts from the spirits, so I have no idea if they were Royal Dragons as you call them, or not. I have never actually heard that distinction made.”
“Someday, when it’s safe, I want to go and tell my family the truth. I have so many other brothers and sisters who need to know that what we have always been taught is, in fact, a lie. I don’t know if my fathers know that it’s not true, or if the deception started further back than that. I will never forgive them for what they have done to my sisters and me, so there’s that, but my mother, and my siblings, need to know. Although, with that cuff that they use to trap my mother, I don’t know that it would make any type of difference. Also, she would never leave the other children, so there’s that.”
He sighed, “Someday, we will travel to your old home. We will tell them the truth that I have always known. I would actually think it would be good for you to meet the other dragons that I know. We don’t have another currently in our tribe, but there is a tribe to the north, not too far, that has one and she is mated to a phoenix shifter, and they are even rarer than dragons.”
I clapped my hands, “I would love to do that sometime. I want to learn everything about your people, with my ability to understand animals and communicate with them, perhaps there is a way I can be useful and help the tribe, or even other tribes. I don’t want to just be there, I want to be a part of your life, well, and now my life, I want to be helpful and a good member.”
He kissed me thoroughly, “The spirits surely knew what they were doing when they brought you to me. My name, Keskae, means chief in my native tongue, because my father is the current chief of our tribe, but someday I will take his place, and you will be at my side. You being so willing to help and wanting to be a part of our people, will be a wonderful thing for the wife of the chief. You will use your ability in many ways, we are close to our animal brothers, yes we hunt, but it helps to keep the herds healthy, and the waters from overpopulation. Also, your ability to communicate with our animal selves will be enormously helpful at times, and we use sled dogs, and things like that as well.” He smiled at me and he was so beautiful.
I watched the light coming in from the window in the bedroom play with his long black hair, making parts look blue. His skin glowed with health and warm tones of vitality, it was so dark compared to my extremely pale complexion, but more like warm teak wood. It was soft, and his muscles long and sinuous. I loved running my hands up and down his chest, feeling the dips and valleys between his muscles.
“Your hair has sparks of fire when the light hits it just right, I love to see the light dance with it, and it is so incredibly soft on my fingers.” He leaned in and smelled my hair as I smiled.
“That I got from my mother. Both my sisters inherited our father's black hair, but mine is brown, not very red like hers, but I got the highlights from her. I wish I had gotten her eyes, they are so incredibly beautiful, like emeralds. My sister Desi and I got blue eyes from our dads, while Mari got hazel. I want you to meet my sisters someday.”
“We will my mate, someday. I know you said that supposedly Royal Dragons were immortal. However, I have always seen that when mated dragons and their mates share the same life span. So, I would think you will share my polar bears. We are very long-lived for shifters, not the same as actual polar bears, more like 200 years, so we get very old. Do you mind not having the idea of living forever?”
I snorted, “Hell no, that always seemed like a burden more than a blessing to me.”
He laughs and hugs me tight, and then he claims my lips. The kiss starts out as just affection, but quickly morphs into more, and then we are occupied with more pleasurable activities than talking.
