Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 98

Cole

I am walking with Kaskae, my son-in-law for all intents and purposes to the tribe’s meeting room. I have actually met with most of the members of the tribe while here on this trip. We are working to get things set up so that the family can come for a visit. However, getting 17 kids and 7 adults to a remote location, plus making sure there are accommodations, is a rather daunting task. 

So, we are all brainstorming about who and how many, and all of the logistics of what we can and can’t really do. I think we have finally come to some conclusions, and between talks here and video calls back home, we have a game plan, finally. 

“So, is Ria getting things ready?” Kaskae asks from beside me.

I laugh, “Yeah, she’s been getting ready since the day she talked to Elizabeth 3 weeks ago. So this is just finishing everything up for her. She has also had meetings with all of the kids about everything happening, and what we are planning, and getting their take and opinions about it all. So, she’s excellent at the whole mom thing with all of that.” I saw him nod his head.

“Elizabeth has told me much about her mother, so that actually doesn’t surprise me.” We were silent the rest of the way to the building. 

I held out my hand and shook with Kova, Kaskae’s father, and we sat down, “So, we have determined that you and your 3 brothers, your mate, and the youngest 4 children will be coming to stay for a week, to spend time with Elizabeth, and the children, and speak to all of us about what we know regarding dragons and your history.” 

I nodded, that was more a statement than a question, “Yeah, Ria thinks that those children are the ones who need her most, especially the baby, and Sarah. The older ones have agreed to wait, and we will bring them out a few at a time later, or set up to fly Elizabeth, Kaskae, and the children to Romania for a few days.” He nodded. 

“Good, so when do you leave?” He asked me while pouring coffee for all of us.

“I will take the snow cat to the landing strip tomorrow, before the storm moves in. According to the weather reports, we have a block of a few days of really bad weather, then we have an open window. That will be when we fly back in. With just the 8 of us 2 snow cats will be good. I will have those already set up to be ready for us.” Again he nodded. 

We spent a little time just talking, then I went to the guest lodge that they had appointed for me, and got things ready to go back home. I had missed my family, so I would be glad to see them after a week. Then it would be finishing up getting ready, to turn around in 5 days and head back for a week.

I had watched my mate run around from place to place for the last few days trying desperately to make sure things were good, and everything was set up for us to be gone. Isobel and Monica kept assuring her they had everything handled as far as the children who were staying here. Brand had also assured us that he and his oldest brothers were more than capable of taking care of everything. 

Cole had come back a couple of days ago and regaled us with many tales of the village, the people, Elizabeth and Kaskae’s lives, as well as the children. He had also told us about Ishohalie, or Isho as Elizabeth calls her, who is a phoenix shifter. We had honestly thought they had gone extinct, so to find out there are still some around was exciting, plus she sounds like she’s a good friend to Elizabeth. 

I found her in the nursery with our youngest, 7-month-old Hope. Ria had named her that saying, “I have Hope that my family will survive all of this, and that my daughter will find her way, and my other daughter is safe and happy somewhere. So it seems appropriate.” We all agreed.

She is singing to her while nursing her, and Hope is patting her chest, and giggling at something she says while singing. Ria has always done this part of everything so much better than even we could have hoped. Even after all of the drama with getting the children into the world at times, her mothering skills have always been tremendous. 

“I thought I might find you here.” My mate looks up at me and actually smiles at me. The relationship between the 4 of us has vastly improved after we were able to show her how sorry we truly were. 

Hope hearing my voice, turns her head, managing to get milk down her chin, grin a milky smile at me. Her mother’s breast is leaking because of the abrupt stop in feeding from Hope turning her head, I walk towards them, and Ria brushes Hope’s cheek, turning her attention back to finish nursing. 

I squat down in front of them, “So, how are you doing with everything? You have been running around quite frantically the last few days, but it seems things might have possibly calmed down some. We are all ready just to load up and head out in a few days.” 

She nods, “Yeah, it’s just we’ve never left the kids, like ever, so it feels really weird to me. I know we are taking some with us, but it still just feels weird, and I think my dragon is actually anxious about it as well, which is actually making me a bit more so, but yeah, I think it’s actually calming down now." She takes a big breath.

“We will keep in constant contact with Isobel and Monica, plus they have the staff to help, and we can video call the kids to check up on everyone.” She nods and smiles a bit at me. 

She looks up at me and gives me a soft look, it’s a new look that I haven’t really seen before just recently, and we are swearing that this time, we won’t fuck all of this up again. We will treat her like the treasure she is and never take it for granted again. 

“Thank you, Ash.” 

“Anytime love, so I will see you in a bit, how about a bubble bath when you are done with Hope?” She grins and nods her head. 

I go to run the bath for her, and hope perhaps, I can talk her into a little more tonight, we’ll have to see.
