I felt better having a plan at least. We still had some things to figure out, like where the best place was to set this all up. One other thing was what I looked to Drago for. He tilted his head and looked back at me.

“Go call Nicholas. Our daughter is there, and I want her somewhere safe, like now. So, either they need to do what we did and bug out, and you can let them know what we are doing, or what you think is best. But they are one of the only 2 other families besides us that haven’t been attacked yet. So, they need a heads up and a plan, cause nothing is happening to Mari, just saying.” I looked at him, he nodded then got up and went to go make the call. 

Ash jumped up, “I want to check in with Kova, and make sure things are good there with Elizabeth and the kids. We need to know if she’s safe and secure as well.” 

I nodded, although, as Elizabeth wasn’t at a dragon compound, these fuckers may not even think of it. They are the snobby ones who think that dragons should only be with dragons so they would probably never think in a million years she would be mated to a polar bear shifter.

“I have been thinking and I keep coming up with a couple of thoughts. Up there in Siberia it’s relatively empty, so not a lot of people would be around if we set the trap there. However, not many people think about a family vacation to Siberia, so that might throw a wrench in the mix. Alaska has a huge amount of empty unoccupied land, and that would be good for the trap as well, for the same reason, nobody is around. Now, Alaska has actually gotten popular about vacation shit, so that would be more believable. The other idea would be out there in the Canadian wilderness, but that may be too close to the Landry’s and they’d worry we discovered something about the attack.” David looked to all of us as he laid that all out.

“That all sounds like good ideas, but I do agree about Siberia. So, we will have to weigh things out about not only where is the best place for us to set the trap, but where is close enough that we can get the kids safe?” I was thinking about possibilities even as I said it. 

Drago came back to where we were all hanging out watching the kids play, “They are getting things set up to get out for a while. They will put their people on alert, and they have some places already set up that they can go. When they started doing government work, they thought there might be a bug-out day in the future, so they planned for that. They haven’t ever used them, so they are not really known, but they are safe and set up, so they are going to head to one of those.” I nodded, glad that they had plans in place already, and that our daughter would be safe.

I see Brand, Draco, Collette, and Dragori heading to us, and I had to smile. They knew that something was up and we were up here talking about it all. I had also mentioned that we wouldn’t be able to hold a few of the older ones back from helping with the whole thing. If they were going to help, they should know what the fuck we were planning. 

I saw my dad smiling like me, so yeah, he also knew what was up. They got to the table, and pulled up chairs all around, Brand landed next to me, which was pretty common. So, I smiled at my mates and nodded to all of them, “I figured you all would be heading up to find out what was up pretty soon.”

They gave noncommittal shrugs and sly smiles, but they basically all nodded, “Did you know there are some other shifters here, Mom” I looked up at Dragori and shook my head.

“Where did you see them? How did you know they were shifters?” I wasn’t sure I would actually know if someone was a shifter if they didn’t outright tell me.

“There were a couple of them on the beach goofing around with each other, and I have no idea, I could just tell they were shifters. I’m not honestly sure I know what kind, but I know they are, and I know they are strong, but again, not sure what that means. It’s just more of an impression.” I nodded.

“Fair enough sweetheart, we are all still on a learning curve, and we have all been so segregated, so I can’t even tell you honestly how common shifters of other types are.” I looked at the guys, wondering if they knew.

“There are actually quite a few different types of shifters. Quite a few are predatory species, but there are a few prey species as well. Those tend to be more along the line of dear, elk, and the like. The only time we have really interacted with them was in the course of jobs. So, I can’t honestly say I am the most knowledgeable about them either.” Drago said to all of us, and I nodded. 

“Well as we get ourselves away from being so isolated that will most likely change. Now, depending on where we end up moving to, that will probably affect the types of shifters that are around, I would think at least, but I could be full of shit.” I told them as they grinned at me.

Suddenly I saw my daughter’s head snap up and her eyes went reptilian, and she sniffed the air. She immediately honed in on a group of guys walking by just a few feet away. One of them turned his head sharply and took her in, and then his eyes changed, and I saw red and orange feathers sprout along his hands. I heard Collette’s dragon growl softly, then I heard the answering sound from his animal. Then I heard, both of them whisper, “Mate”, then I knew. Well, this has just gotten complicated. I don’t really feel so happy about my 17-year-old daughter mating yet.

Then chairs scrape around the table, and I hear soft dragon growls, well, I think I am going to have to handle this one now.
