She was right. I thought we could make this work, but she was right. She told us that no matter what we offered her, we would break her, because we would demand what she couldn’t give. I thought we would be able to make up for now, and we would make her happy, then now would be irrelevant, and we would be okay with the future. I was fooling myself.

When she said we were going to rape her it gutted me. That’s what her mother had accused us of. She said this is exactly what we would become if we followed through with the agreement. I thought she was just being an emotional mother who didn’t wish to lose her children. I had no idea she was so incredibly right.

I thought the drug would just help her relax so she would not be so panicked. I didn’t realize that it would work too well, or perhaps we used too much, and got the dosage wrong. We had consulted with our physicians before we left Cape Town to see what would work best. 

She cried, but she couldn’t speak, not really, she groaned and grunted, but it was in pain, not in pleasure. The bite of a mate is supposed to act as an aphrodisiac to his mate. It is supposed to make her feel pleasure. She should have felt pleasure at our bite and our touch, and she should not have been absolutely dry when I entered her the first time. My brothers managed to find a small bottle of lube in the bathroom attached to this bedroom. So, they do not hurt her again, but neither does she respond in any way. In fact, I have noticed something the longer it goes on. There are no longer tears falling, there are no grunts or groans, no sounds whatsoever other than breathing. She simply does not move. She blinks, and she breaths, but other than that I would think she was dead. 

I keep trying to talk to her after it is accomplished and all of us have mated her. We still have hours until we reach our home, so I think I will let her sleep, but she’s not sleeping, not really. Her eyes are open, but she is seeing nothing. I have no idea what is happening. Eventually her eyes close, but nothing else changes. 

Sometime during the night she soils the bed as she doesn’t even move to go to the bathroom. Okay, now I am absolutely terrified about what is happening here. What the fuck has happened to our mate? 

We clean her up and we call our family physician immediately. When I describe her symptoms he is utterly quiet. Then he asks me to repeat it all again. “Mr. Diamani, she sounds like she has become dissociated. Some treatments may or may not work. There’s not a lot known really about catatonic dissociation, but it is thought to be a response to severe trauma. We can try therapy or a psychiatric doctor, they have had some success in pulling a patient back. Some psychiatric medications may be able to help, but those would be dangerous if she became pregnant. Of course, becoming pregnant in this state would be impossible. I am surprised that her dragon has not fixed the situation.

I was actually surprised I hadn’t thought of that. I hung up from the doctor and went back into the bedroom. We dressed her and sat her up. She was sitting up and staying sitting up, but she was still completely unresponsive to anything. She would not drink or eat either, so I wasn’t sure what to do about that. We really couldn’t do much while in this plane anyway. 

I knew my brothers felt as bad about what was happening as I did. I sat beside her and just closed my eyes, urging my dragon to reach out to hers and pull her up. He had a hard time even finding her, and when he did she was buried and deeply asleep. He couldn’t communicate or get any type of response from her at all, and he lamented not having his mate. I comforted him with the knowledge that we would help her get better. 

How the fuck was I going to fix this? Not to mention, we were supposed to have a video call with the Balurs so they could check in and let the girls know everything at home was okay, and check in on their daughters at the same time. This would not be good. Ria would take one look at her daughter and it was going to break her heart. She had warned all of us for years, since before the girls were even born. I had seen the state the girls were in after their 13th birthday when they were informed about the agreement. 

Still, we had believed we could make it work, and it would be successful. Now, what was going to happen? What if she were never able to have children because of all of this? What if she never really recovered from this? What were we supposed to do? Have sex with her in this state? That thought made me ill. That was not what I wanted for her or us. This was a mess.

How could I fix this? What was going to happen to her? What would happen to my people?
