Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 97

Drago

I am reeling from so much. A couple of days ago we got an unexpected call from the Landrys. We had been dealing more with them as of late. They had at first been incredibly angry at what Elizabeth had done to ruin their plans. That was until they learned of Desi and Mari. They then realized that if Elizabeth hadn’t done what she did, she very much could have been like Mari, or even Desi.

So, after that, they were much more gracious. They had also stepped up the search for her. We’d had a lot of conversations with all 4 of the other families, including the ones down in New Zealand, the Patels. There were discussions about doing things as Royal Dragons somehow and somewhere, rather than there being this huge divide. Especially considering how many Royal Dragon Females had been born into our family, and that we were never again even entertaining the idea of any type of arrangement between anyone for mating.

There was a common interest in the idea that Ria had initially proposed. Over time, the other families get to know all of our kids, and just see what might or might not happen years down the road because of that. After all Royal Dragons are immortal, it’s not like they have a timeline. We had all been working together to try and help our villages be and do better, so there wasn’t this feeling of needing to fix things for them.

So, when the Landrys called a couple of days ago, it wasn’t completely out of left field that they would contact us. However, the moment they announced, wide-eyed, that Elizabeth and her Mate had come to them, requesting assistance to contact all of us, I almost fell on the floor.

Not only was I incredibly happy to see my daughter well and happy, actually happier than I had seen her for many years if truth be told, but she also had children. So obviously, the information that she had given to the Landry’s about having a hysterectomy had been another deterrent used by her to keep them at bay.

She was rather stiff and formal, until all of us told her how incredibly sorry we were for what we had done, and what we had believed, and told her about our promise to her mother that nothing like that would ever happen again. The Landrys, not wanting to surprise her too badly, especially with her two little babies in tow, had sat them down and explained about Desi. They had given her time to grieve before she had seen us, which I think helped her to actually hear the sorrow in our apologies.

It would take a lot of time to ever repair the relationship between all of us dads and our two remaining triplets. We had done something appalling, and they had paid a very heavy price for our inability to listen and bend.

We had planned then for them to call us back today, which gave her a couple of days to absorb everything with Desi and Mari, and then she would be in a better place to see her mother, rather than dealing with all of the emotional revelations at once.

So, now that all of the reunions were over, we had all of the Royal Dragon Families in here. Obviously, there was something that we had been told that was very wrong, as Elizabeth was mated to a non-dragon, and they had children.

“Elizabeth, have you guys sensed what the kids may be yet?” Ria is the one who actually asked that.

Elizabeth grinned and looked at the man beside her who she obviously was in love with, and he was obviously in love with her in return, and I couldn’t ask for more for my daughter in a mate.

“Adria is a dragon, and Denali is a polar bear.” She beamed at her mom as she bragged about her children.

Ria again clasped her hands over her mouth, “Oh sweetheart, I can’t even begin to tell you how incredibly proud and happy I am.”

“So, dads, actually any of you who wish to answer. Where did the belief that Royal Dragon Males can only breed with Royal Dragon Females come from? Kaskae says that his people have known dragons for many many years. They have mated with their people over the generations, so he wasn’t surprised to see me or be my mate the way I was with him. So, where the hell did this lie come from?” Elizabeth looked at all of us rather hotly, as she was still working through so many emotions.

“Honestly hon, I don’t know the answer to that. We were told that by our parents, your grandparents, who died long before you were born due to a rogue attack. So, we just believed what we had always been taught. Also, the villages here and at the other Royal Dragon Families we had known, or known of, were always dragons, no other species had ever been here. So, we have to think that at some point, someone was extremely prejudiced, or perhaps it was more than one someone. They segregated all of the villages, isolated them so no other shifter species would come here, then started the whole thing of Royals could only mate with other Royals.”

“Okay, so what if there are dragons currently in those villages who have mates somewhere else? What should we do about all of this?” Elizabeth asked me bluntly.

“Honey, I honestly don’t know at this point. I am looking down the barrel of a whole lifetime of beliefs for me and all of our people. The first thing we have to do is to tell them the truth. Then they can decide about moving, exploring, and meeting new people. We will encourage that. Perhaps we can figure out a way to encourage other species of shifters to visit here. We’ll have to do a lot of thinking and brainstorming about it all.”

“Why don’t all of you and your mate plan to visit the village in the near future. It would give you a chance to see Elizabeth, your grandchildren, and to meet with other members of my tribe, who might be able to help you figure out ways to help.” Kaskae, Elizabeth’s mate suggested.

“That sounds like a wonderful idea. We’ll have to make preparations, and plans for that. We can’t plan to bring all of the kids, but several would want to come. Who knows, it’ll take a lot of planning, but we will definitely do that.” I assured both Elizabeth and her mother who was raptly looking at me.

Ria grinned, “I will find a way to come to you baby, you can bet on that.”
