Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 126

David

I could only think of one thing, I needed to find them, and I needed to defend my daughter. It didn’t matter that it was late, and it didn’t matter that my grandkids were in their rooms or asleep. After what my daughter had just told me, right now, I had a hold of my dragon by a thread.

I heard talking and luckily I found them out in the back yard, they must have been making sure the fire was all cleaned up. I walked out there, and Drago was the first to spot me. I think he could tell from my face that this wasn’t good. He didn’t leave, he didn’t say anything, he didn’t try to defend himself either verbally or physically, which was one of the best things he could have done actually.

I walked up to him and I punched the shit out of him, then I pulled him up and did it again. I saw his brothers move closer and I saw him hold up his hand. I backed off and saw blood dripping from his nose, which I had obviously broken. He stood up, and I watched him quickly rearrange it before it healed. He paused, no doubt because it hurt, and I found myself very glad about that.

“I swore to her that I wouldn’t kill all of you. She said it would break your kid’s hearts. Well, I saw today that it was true for most of them. However, that wouldn’t really break all of their hearts now would it? Especially not Desi’s, who I will never have the chance to meet because of your fucking bullshit and inability to hear. I mean damn, you live with a woman who you are supposed to be mated to, she tells you something for more than 18 years, and what, you blow her off? What the absolute fuck!”

I was pacing at this point, “I understand a lot of shit can be traced back and trickled down and all of that. I understand you had help in everything you did. I just can’t grasp the mentality that says you tell a mother to her face, who loves her kids to death, that she is stupid and doesn’t know what she is talking about, and her fears and shit are totally invalid? How the fucking hell do you do that? You guys knew her past, did you never once think, oh hey, she might know what she’s talking about because she’s actually been there and done that, so maybe we should actually listen to her? I mean what the fuck? Was everyone in the world more important than her, than those girls, what the hell were you fucking thinking??”

“We weren’t David. That’s just it, we weren’t. You are right, we had convinced ourselves that she was just afraid to lose her daughters and have them live far away. We never thought for one second that there was any possibility that it wouldn’t work.” I just stood there blinking at him.

I shook my head several times, just trying to wrap my head around that mentality. The idea that they just weren’t wrong. To them, it was that simple, They just weren’t wrong. However, they had proven very wrong and it cost my granddaughter her life.

“When my wife’s family made her unhappy, we cut them out of our lives, no talking about it with them, no discussion, she was upset and unhappy, so they were gone. It was that simple. I loved that woman with every single breath in my body. I would have laid down my life for hers and for my daughter. I would have never even hesitated, and in fact, I still wouldn’t. I would die for that woman in there. So, I guess I am just confused about how much you all profess to love my daughter, but you can still look at her and throw her thoughts and feelings back in her face. So, what if she had just been having issues with having the girls so far away? Would that automatically merit no discussion? Would her happiness matter absolutely nothing? Where would you draw that line of where she becomes important and where she doesn’t? “ I was actually glad they kept quiet, because I had a feeling that anything they said at that point would just piss me off.

“So, now I want to discuss another very large problem. I understand that there was a lot about her background that you couldn’t know. I understand that you thought there might be a war and other dragons would be trying to win her away from you guys. I could maybe even understand whisking her away somewhere to be safe, and give you time to talk to her and explain everything. That wasn’t what happened though. You kidnapped and raped my daughter, and if that wasn’t enough, then you put her in a cage and sealed the door shut. So, here’s what I want to have happen. You are going to remove that cuff from around her wrist. If you truly love her, and you want to have the possibility of any type of true feelings developing on her part at least, you have to get rid of the cage. No one can truly love you from inside a cage. You may have dressed it up and tried to make it fancy, but it is still a cage as long as that fucking bracelet is trapping her with no choices. So, you want to prove to her that you love her, then get rid of the fucking cage. Don’t make me have to break a promise to my daughter.”

With that, I turned and left them there to think about what I had said. When I got back to the house my daughter was standing in the doorway, she had tears running down her face. She looked at me and smiled a huge smile. I smiled back, then I walked up to her and held my arms open. Too many people had taken her power and choice away from her, I’d be damned if I did the same. She walked into my arms and hugged me back as I wrapped my arms around her.
