Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 147

David

We had all ended up in a rented Villa on the coast of Greece. Ria had relaxed once we moved away from the areas she’d obviously associated with some rather unpleasant memories, and once she relaxed it was like a cascade effect with everyone else relaxing. So, right now the kids are playing on the beach, and all of us are watching over them.

When my phone rings I look and see Pyre’s name pop up so I immediately answer, concerned that there’s an emergency there, “Pyre, what’s up, everything okay?”

“Two of the Landrys ended up walking into the village yesterday. I sat down and talked to them today, after I explained the whole family connection thing, they were willing to talk. They had planned to go on to Kova’s village, but stayed for a bit. David, they told us what happened, well, more told Isho and me. They had been contacted by one of those government rep people, and set up a meeting. They had thought this would be a good opportunity for them to ferret out information. That wasn’t what happened though. The meeting never happened, there was a huge force that showed up and attacked rather than just the one guy and his entourage. They lost 2 brothers, and a lot of their people are dead. The house is toast. They thought it best to leave to try to draw any remaining heat away with them. They said there was a huge force that attacked, not just a few.”

I nodded though she couldn’t see me, “Yeah, that makes sense. I think we may have seen through that, but I can somewhat understand their logic. I’m sorry they lost family with this bullshit though. Just make sure everyone stays alert and on guard. We haven’t been contacted by anyone seeking a meeting. So, either they haven’t gotten around to the Balaurs yet, or they know we left? Who knows at this point? So, keep me updated, and I will keep you updated. Be careful Pyre, and be safe. Love you.”

“Love you to David, be safe out there, and give my niece a hug from me.” I smiled as we hung up.

“Your aunt told me to give you a hug.” I see Ria snicker at that.

“Okay, 2 of the Landry brothers showed up in the village. The other 2 were killed in the skirmish. They had been contacted by a rep of the fake agencies you guys have been working with. They had thought taking the meeting would be a good way to dig up more info on them, but rather than just having the rep and his people, a huge fucking attack force showed up and then it was all-out war. So, that is actually what happened. As I told Pyre, either they haven’t worked their way down to us yet, or they know we are gone, as we haven’t received any phone calls.” I watched the faces around me as they absorbed the information.

“Should we be ditching our electronics and just grabbing burner phones and shit? Couldn’t they trace us if they really wanted to?” Ria looked around at all of us.

“Actually, yes they could, I hadn’t even thought of it. They probably know we left if they are tracking us. However, remember we alerted headquarters that we were taking a family vacation and we would be gone for a while. So, they could just think that is what is going on and why they haven’t called to set up a meeting. They could be waiting until they see we have gotten “home from vacation” so to speak.” Ash told all of us.

“Ah, yeah, I had forgotten you guys had reported that we would be leaving. So, now we have to figure out how desperate they might get about coming after us. Will they risk exposing themselves in the race to remove us as a threat? As far as I know, they don’t know that you guys have any association with Pyre or me, so they don’t know for sure how much you guys really are in the know. Now, it’s basically a game of chicken.” I looked at Ria as I said that. I had a feeling she was going to be the one who would figure this shit out before the rest of us.

“I honestly think we are going to have to end up going on the offensive rather than just playing defense. Yes, we have been checking things out, looking at who’s involved, and trying to piece together things. In that time now 2 dragon families have been attacked. So, I don’t plan to wait around until they come for the kids or us. I want to take them out before they can continue to do more damage.” Ria looked at all of us, and I nodded.

“Do you have any ideas, Ria? You come up with things we don’t think of and vice versa, so it’s good to brainstorm and think these things out. If we are going on the offensive, what do you think we should do honestly?” We all watched her mull over that.

“I think we need to set a trap. They are so confident that we are clueless, and I have to say, the other families haven’t proven that wrong. So, what if we go to a location where we know that there is going to be room to fight with no one else getting hurt. We let them know you guys are available for any needed operations, as yes, we’re still on vacation, but you felt you’d been out of the loop too long, and so if there was a mission to complete, you were there for it. If they stick to their current pattern they are going to send in a huge attack force. However, with the 5 of us alone we could probably decimate them, especially if we knew they were coming and were lying in wait. We would have to get the kids somewhere safe and guarded first. I have a feeling we wouldn’t be able to keep a couple of the older ones from fighting with us. So, there’s my idea. So, now what do you guys think?”

“Fuck, I say let's go for it.” I smiled at my daughter who smiled back.
