Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 152
Drago
We arrived in Alaska 2 days ago. We were now all set up at the lodge, and everyone was secure and things were coming together. I had just gotten off the phone with “headquarters” alerting them to the change in our location, and how we wanted to make sure we checked in just in case they needed us to do a job.
I had been informed that a representative would be arriving tomorrow at my location to hand over files and discuss an urgent new operation that had just been marked up to an urgent matter, so of course my timing was so perfect, and they were so glad to hear from us.
I had called from about 50 miles from the lodge. Not too far to get there relatively quickly and easily but far enough that we weren't really worried about stray bullets or anything. So, now tomorrow we will head there, and wait for the appointed time that the “representative” was supposed to show up. This is exactly the same as what they had done with the Landrys, except this wasn’t our home.
I wondered if they were planning that after they took care of us, they would go and take care of the village? Who knew how these fucking psychos thought? It still boggled my mind that I had been so easily duped for so long, and helped them do so much damage. I just hoped we could make up for some of that now.
I found Ria outside with the kids, they were running around. This was the Summer, so for just a bit the weather here would be nice and warm, but we had been told that the Summer doesn’t last long around here. That would be something we would need to think about if we wanted to try to build something here. No doubt building here would pose some interesting challengers.
I sat beside her on the grass and saw she was feeding Hope, who looked at me and gave me a partially milky smile, and I had to grin back. I would miss this whole thing. She would be our last baby, and I would miss seeing Ria like this. I knew she was exceedingly glad that the hysterectomy had worked, and I knew that she really needed that. We had a lot of children, I was just being nostalgic.
“Hey there beautiful girl, are you being good for mama? I am not sure, you seem to have that little mischievous look in your eye today.” She kept smiling and now Ria was smiling as well.
“No doubt, if any of our kids have a true mischievous streak I see it in her, even as little as she is, I still see it. She will give them all hell as she gets older.” Ria laughed at her assessment.
“Okay, well, I called them and tomorrow they are sending a representative and his team to hand over a new case they just escalated and it was so great that we called, and to expect him. I called from the clearing, so if they pinged my phone it should show there. I left my phone there just in case as well. So, tomorrow we will go there before the scheduled time, and wait to see what happens. This seems so much like what the Landry’s said.” She was nodding.
“Yeah, it really does. The only difference is we're not at the castle and there’s no village for them to attack at the same time as us.”
“Yeah, I had the thought that I wondered if their plan was to take care of us here, then send people to take care of the village? It doesn’t really matter right now anyway. I plan on none of them being left to do anything after tomorrow. Then we’ll all sit down and start really making plans about what all we want to do, and the ideas around a training facility, and everything that entails.” She again nodded.
“Yeah, I bet being up here is going to pose some unique challenges that we don’t know about. Have we asked the owners about the possibility of purchasing the Lodge? It seems like perhaps it would be workable for all of us while we are having shit built. What do you think?”
“That’s actually an excellent idea. There’s that small town about 25 miles from here, so by Alaska standards I understand that it is practically next door. We will have to find out about purchasing land, building permits, and shit, but we can handle all of that. It will just be a lot of paperwork probably.” She shuttered and I had to laugh.
“Cole got a call from Nicholas. He called from a burner phone so we can’t call him back on that number. He said they would call in 4 days, at the same time, so that we could talk to them and Mari. I have a feeling Mari has some news for us, but I don’t know for sure, I could be totally interpreting his tone of voice wrong, but we’ll see.”
“Well, I can honestly say if that is the case and she’s happy, then I am happy. If she’s not happy then I am going to start chopping off heads. So, just a little fyi there.” I laughed and nodded my head.
“Fair enough, we will not stand in your way, and in fact, we will assist. You just tell us which heads to collect and they are yours.” She burst out laughing, and I had to watch her. This hadn’t been the dynamic for so long. She actually laughed now, and it was beautiful, to finally see her be able to was something I wanted to never lose.
“So, are you ready for tomorrow?” She smirked and nodded.
“Oh yes, I am very much ready for tomorrow. These people have some major payback coming their way, and I am very happy to help deliver that. My dragon is being rather blood thirsty, just so you know. She keeps giving me all of these images of her stomping on people like bugs, so that’s rather disturbing. Do you guys’ dragons communicate with you like that?”
“Ah, no, I can’t honestly say that has ever happened. More with impressions and feelings pushed onto us, and then when they sneak past us and do shit, that is what we deal with as far as our dragons. Yours has always been her own, and I know some of that stems from that fucking bastard and what he did to you. Some are just her, she’s like the most powerful dragon I have ever seen or heard of, so just fyi on that.”
“We may not see eye to eye on much, but tomorrow, I have a feeling we’ll be on the exact same page, and I will look forward to her dishing out some vengeance. So, yeah, we’re more than ready.”
