To say we were all stunned into silence would be an understatement. I am not even sure we were all breathing at that revelation. I could see distress all over David and Pyre’s faces. So, obviously whatever information they had to depart was hard for them for other reasons. For us, it was indescribably devastating. 

“Drago, before I start to explain some things in our past that led me to know these truths, I have to ask some questions. First, are the people you work with aware of where you are? Do they know that your family is separated, and how many people are taking care of them?”

I am now starting to panic as he asked those questions.”We have 19 children in total. Our oldest boy Brand is 18 and he is in charge, I have a couple of other sons not far behind him. They have 2 nannies, the house manager, the staff, and my head of security Dragori, and his staff in residence either inside the castle or very close to it in their own housing buildings on the property. Yes, before we came here we informed our contacts so that should a job come up they would know where we were and why we might be unavailable.”

“Drago, you need to get your family someplace safe, and do it right this second. If they figure out that my sister and I are here, and that you might learn exactly what you are learning now, they will come down hard on all of you. They will most likely try to come at you, but they are mother fucking sick bastards who would have no problem going after a bunch of kids. So, somehow you have to get them to go somewhere safe, and you have to figure out a way to tell them that’s not obvious, cause I guarantee all of your phones are tapped.” I was panicking inside thinking of my kids in danger. Ash reached over and grabbed onto my hand, but I felt him shaking as well.

“Dad, let me do it. I can call Brand and he will know exactly what I am saying and what I mean, but no one else would ever know.” He nodded to Elizabeth, and she grabbed her phone and called her brother.

She put the phone on speaker, and I heard Brand’s voice, “Elizabeth why are you calling me is everything okay?”

“Hey there, Dartanion, you ready to be a musketeer? I bet I can still kick your ass and beat you at hide and seek again. We are going to be coming back there, and I am going to hunt you down. Do you think you know a good place you might be able to hide from me? You'd better hope so.” She was purposefully laughing, like she was teasing her brother mercilessly.

“Ha, you guys didn’t call me Dartanion for nothing. Besides he and I are the best musketeers. Of course, we might have to recruit a few more.. You know they were the famous ones but there was a whole group of musketeers. So, maybe I will induct them into the life of a musketeer. What do you think about that?”

She laughed, “Sounds like a plan. Are you going to tell them all of your old hiding spots where you hid from your big sisters and me? I think we found a few but I’m not sure we found all of them though. However, I am sure I’ll be looking hard when I get there, so you'd better hope you hid well enough. I’m going to tickle you mercilessly when I get there and I will even get Dragori to help me too.” 

“That’s what you think, I will make sure he’s on my team, and I’ll get Isobel and Monica, and we’re going to be the ones tickling you this time sis, just watch.” He was laughing, but as his mom, I could tell the forced edge of it.

“Okay, Dartanion. You have your assignment. We should be there in a day or two at most, so I’ll be coming to find you. Love you little brother, I’ll see you soon, be safe.”

“Love you too, Elizabeth, and I will, don’t worry. I’ll see you soon.” With that, they both hung up.

Drago and my other mates, as well as Kova and Kaskae were all very impressed. I wasn’t exactly sure what she had told him. I knew it was code because I was sitting here on this side and privy to the previous conversations. So, if I hadn’t known that, it truly would have sounded like two siblings giving each other a hard time and throwing down challenges for one another.

“Okay, so how about you explain all of that for those of us who don’t speak sibling code.” Cinder just said while grinning just slightly at her.

“We used to play hide and seek all of the time. It was one of the first times we started calling him Dartanion. We would pretend the castle was under siege and we had to hide everyone and be the musketeers that saved everyone. So, as soon as I started talking about that, he knew the castle would be under siege, that he needed to hide everyone, and to take them into the cave system we had found as children, and basically turned it into a hideout for the musketeers. He talked about recruiting the others, so he will get the older boys to help make it a game so the younger ones don’t get scared. He knows to alert Dragori, and he said he would make sure that Isobel and Monica are with them.”

Kaskae turned Elizabeth’s face to him and kissed her, he smiled, “Sweetheart if we ever need to do any spy work, you will most definitely be the one in charge. That was absolutely amazing.”

“I very much agree with your mate. That was absolutely incredible, sweetheart. I am very proud of you as well, as are all of us. So, now that we have a little bit of breathing space, we need to go and make sure our family is safe. Tell us what we are looking at, and how you know all of this stuff. Also, who else do we need to warn?”

David rubbed his face, “Okay, let me tell you all a story.”
