Right now I want to stand up and cheer. David is so much my hero, and I’m happy he’s my dad. To see him care so much about what is happening to me, but more than that. He cares about what has happened, and those responsible, even by omission. I look around at all of the horrified faces of these people and want to laugh. Have I not been screaming the same things for 20 years?

“Well, when they brought her home she was already mated to them. Mates are for life, so that was not able to be undone. Finding out she was pregnant, with Royal Babies, was such a boon, that we could not allow her to try and take those babies from their fathers.” The mayor refutes.

I cleared my throat, “The only and best friend I have had here in so many years is Isobel. Do you know why that is?” They shook their heads.

“Because the first day she ever laid eyes on me, she watched, and she realized something wasn’t quite right. So, with no hesitation, the second she was able to when we were alone, she offered to help get my and my 3 babies to safety and away from them. Now, I immediately explained to her that I couldn’t leave and listed the many reasons why. However, she asked me. She cared what was happening to me. She wanted to help me make it right. She didn’t care about them being “Royal Dragons” , she wasn’t afraid for her own safety. No, she saw something wrong, a person in trouble, and offered her help immediately. That, right there was what made all the difference. I knew you guys would never be able to actually remove me from them. The day I told you I was being kept against my will, that I had been kidnapped and raped. You ate a fucking piece of pie in my god damned face to show me exactly how worthless you thought I was.” I was gritting my teeth.

“You were not worthless, you were pregnant. I knew that immediately.” He said back to me.

“So, I wasn’t enough of a person to actually care about or help, but I was good as a breeder with a womb that obviously was functional?” I tilted my head at him.

He didn’t respond to that so I nodded, “You all spent years and years seeming to think that one day I would suddenly drink the Kool-Aid, or become the stepford wife, and I would turn to that plastic happy, happy, joy, joy bullshit. You were all so incredibly disappointed when I didn’t. I told you, the day you said, “Aren’t you happy now that I didn’t do anything?” I screamed at you that no, I wasn’t happy about that. I told you all then I would never forgive you. That has never changed. I hate all of you. I will hate all of you. If this town got blown to hell I would probably laugh honestly. So, the fact that my father came to help keep everyone safe, as far as my family is concerned, I am more grateful than I can possibly express. The idea of him helping you, that to me is laughable, but if he is willing, I will back him up. The guys and my relationship is just that. Between us. The fact that they are trying to bend over backwards to correct all of their mistakes and have said how many mistakes and fuck ups they made, is the only thing that keeps me working for the possibility. You guys burned your bridges a long time ago.” 

Drago spoke up, “ I think we need to fill in a lot of gaps and correct a lot of incorrect information. That is the first priority right now. Then you will have to decide what you want to do with the information and what we explain will be happening from here on forward.” 

David and the guys went through the whole thing. Explaining about this madman and all of the absolute chaos and fucked up shit he created. How we still didn’t know for sure which agencies were legit, and possibly just as duped as the rest of us, which were just a cover for all of this other bullshit, and what all of the implications of that were. There was a lot of “Oh fuck” looks all around the cafe. 

Then Drago stepped back in to explain the next part, “So, from now on, this will not be a segregated village. I will be sending out invitations to any supernatural who wishes to settle here. So, that will bring about a lot of changes. We will no longer be in charge of the village’s safety. We will work with you guys on establishing things for yourself so you will be completely self-governing. We’ll need to figure out the best way to change all of the teachings for the kids going forward. Also, a lot of dragons in this town are gifted; however, they were worried about disappointing us, so they hid it. I would suggest that it be fixed. Be prepared for attacks. Make sure you are ready to defend yourselves should it be necessary, and it most likely will be. I have no idea if we will stay here when this is all done or not. That is something we will have to discuss with our mate. I don’t know if she can live here among all of you. It’s hard enough for her to tolerate us, so we’ll have to see about all of that. 

I paused and just looked at his face. I couldn’t believe he had just said that. He was watching me and nodded ever so subtly to me. So, he was willing to leave here so I would never have to deal with these mother fuckers again? That was an interesting development. I would have to think about that. 

After all of those information bombs, we left, pretty much leaving the town to pick up their jaws off the floor, and the need to evaluate their whole lives. I thought it would be good for them. If it helped them be better people, good. If not, perhaps I would be granted a gift, and the town would get blown to hell. I know that’s terrible, I’m sure there are decent people here, and there are kids I don't want to get hurt. The town as a whole though, I will never be able to have anything to really do with. 

So, now it is back to our own preparations, and more dissecting of the truth of the whole thing.
