“Yes, I think we would agree to that, at least for my part I thank you for being willing to still work with us after all that has happened. I will speak more with my brothers tonight, and if I need to address anything further I will let you know.” Anthony nodded his head to me.

I nodded back, “So, now, at least we have some kind of plan in place. Nicholas, I will wait for you to let me know what you and your brothers decide about my proposal for Mari. That’s the only part of all of this I wanted to talk to the other two families about. The Landry’s we’ll have to speak to another way, but we’ll get that situation handled. So, gentlemen I am going to leave and let you get on with the cloak-and-dagger part of your evening.” 

I turned and left the underground control room. I was at my end emotionally for what I could do with them right now. I still felt scraped so raw inside that it was hard for me to speak to and look at those men, so I had to take it in small doses, and only for the sake of making sure this never happened again, and possibly helping Mari. Elizabeth I had a feeling we would hear from her when she was ready. I still wasn’t entertaining the idea that she was gone, I knew I felt her there in my heart. Could it simply be a mother’s wish, absolutely, but until I had concrete proof she was gone, she never would be to me. 

I knew I was going to eventually have to speak to my mates, but that was hard on all sorts of other levels, and I couldn’t simply walk away and not see them anymore, that would never work. So, I had to decide what I could do. Right now, my dragon was grieving, so she hadn’t subjected me to the sex side of things with the guys yet, but I know it’s coming, I honestly don’t know how long she will give me a reprieve. 

I’m not going to lie and say that my wanting to find a way to break a mate bond is only for Mari and the Diamanis. If I could break my own, the guys could find another mate, even a regular dragon. If it came to that, we have more than enough kids, so that wouldn’t be a necessary aspect of any mating. Hell, if we weren’t mates, they could have mistresses without their dragons going nuts, then they could have all the sex they wanted and leave me the fuck out of it. If I actually ever managed to find someone who didn’t make my skin crawl, I would then be free myself to pursue that, but that would be an incredibly long shot to say the least. 

Just as I’m walking up the stairs, I hear Sarah start to cry, and I know she’s probably hungry. I increase my speed to get there before Isobel or Monica offers any kind of bottle. As I walk through the door, Monica looks up and smiles at me as she’s rocking Sarah in her arms trying to comfort her.

“I was just about to get a bottle ready for her, impeccable timing, Mom.” She smiles as she hands Sarah to me and I smile back. 

I sit with Sarah in the rocking chair, and she’s still fussing, but she knows it’s coming. As I finally free my breast, she latches on excitedly and starts to nurse. I laugh at her enthusiasm. Finally, after she has sated some of her thirst, she is in a better mood and she starts patting me and giving me smiles. She’s a normally very contented baby, so she is only grumpy when she’s really hungry, and she can’t stand a dirty diaper, so the second she is wet or anything, she will definitely let you know it. 

“Hello, my beautiful girl, sorry Mama was late, but I had to talk to some very stupid men downstairs. Hopefully, Mama can help them not be so stupid in the future. What do you think, sweetness? Do you think Mama can help them not be stupid? “ She smiled and I laughed, knowing she had no idea what I was saying, she just reacted to my face and tone of voice. 

As funny as I found it to talk about her father’s being stupid, using a high-pitched sing-songy voice to amuse my daughter, I thought I'd best change the topic, so I started to sing her songs about nonsense, and she laughed a couple of times as I tickled her feet.

After all of that, I went into the toddler room where Isobel and Monica had all of our younger ones. I sat Sarah on her play mat for some tummy time, but she had started rolling over, so tummy time might turn into roll over and play with all my hanging toys, or get my brothers and sisters to play with me. 

I told Monica and Isobel that I was heading out to the garden. They both nodded and waved me off, with the older kids at school for the day, they didn’t have as many kids between the two of them, so it was easier for me to slip out or do something else. I would be back to spend time with my other kids soon, then after the school kids got home it was snacks and homework.

As I walked downstairs I felt the little bubbly popping sensations that were my child beginning to move, soon enough those sensations would change to kicks, punches, rolls, and hiccups. I still had a hard time with the whole pregnancy thing, but after going through it many times, it was easier than at first. 

That was a whole other thing we were going to be talking about later. I was taking care of this shit once and for all. I would not spend my whole life being a breeder and popping out kids. Enough was enough already. The vasectomies for the guys had already reversed themselves. Nothing else I had tried had ever worked, so now was the time to get the plumbing taken care of, especially if Elizabeth had it done and it was successful. Of course, I don’t think her fathers knew about that yet, but they would. 

So, this would be a very emotional evening no doubt, but every night was an emotional night, some were just harder than others, but none were ever truly easy. This whole situation hadn’t really allowed for an easy low-key evening for me in almost 19 years. So we would see if tonight would end up better or worse, I sighed, thinking it would probably be worse, but sometimes miracles do happen, and my mates might surprise me yet, we would have to wait and see.
