Treasure Of Dragons, Royal Dragons Book 1 Chapter 132
David
I have a feeling I am about to piss a whole lot of people, or rather dragons, off. I am very much okay with that. I am currently in the car with the guys and Ria, and we are on our way to a meeting in town. Behind us being driven by their driver Petre is their head of security and their house manager.
We are supposed to meet with the Lead Law Enforcement Officer Misha Roman, his second in command, the Mayor, Rupert Nutru, and his staff. We are meeting them at this famous cafe Ria had told me about, where she’s paraded a lot. So, this is going to be interesting.
As we stop I clear my throat, everyone turns to look at me, “I am about to probably piss some people off, probably a lot, and I don’t want any of you to refute anything I say, or interrupt this little bit of a kick in the ass I need to deliver.” I look around at all of them. The guys are grey and Ria is smiling.
We all get out and head into the cafe. I see the adoration immediately written on the faces of the people here, and I have to slightly shake my head. I see them watching Ria like a hawk, like their dragons are connecting to her, and they probably are. Her dragon is extremely compelling. We settled at a big huge table in the far corner. Ria immediately sits in the back corner, protecting her back, and giving her a clear line of sight. So, that’s interesting.
The woman, whom I am guessing runs the cafe comes immediately and sets down a cup of tea for her, so again I’m guessing, it seems this is her usual thing to get here. She brings the rest of us what we order to drink and hands me a menu, as the others probably have it memorized by now.
The door jingles, and I turn to see several people enter. Again, almost hero-worship-worthy looks from the people around the cafe. I recognize the uniform that Ria had mentioned, so this must be Officer Roman. The man behind him is in an impeccable suit, so I am thinking, Mayor. There’s another man with a uniform, and 2 more with suits.
Everyone gets settled in, and introductions are made, and handshakes given out. The woman they call Helena comes back, and there is general chit chat, as obviously this is a well-loved establishment, and they are all very familiar with each other. I notice they don’t really engage Ria, but I see Ria’s face, and I can understand why. She really does hate these people.
After everyone is taken care of and has their food, I decide I have waited long enough, “Officer Roman, since you are the law enforcement in charge here, I have a couple of questions I’d like to get your advice on if that’s okay.”
He nods, “Sure, I’m happy to help.” he smiles and I chuckle to myself internally.
“We had discovered through some of this a group of dragon women who have been trafficked, and one of them is very gifted and she’s also pregnant. So, who do you think we should force her to mate with?”
He sputtered, “Excuse me, did you say force her to mate with? Why would you think of that?”
I looked at him confused, “Well I’m sure after the circumstances, she’s not really going to want to mate with anyone, but we should still force the issue don’t you think? I mean, she’s gifted, so she needs to be put where she’s needed. Dragons are desperate for young, so since she’s pregnant, she needs to be handled and kept with males.”
Again with the sputtering, “What about her family?”
“She was in foster care, so they’re not dragons. So, they are irrelevant really. She needs to be kept with dragons.” I just watched. I can see Ria is trying hard not to laugh, and everyone else at this table looks absolutely appalled. So do a lot of the patrons around the cafe, as I am not being quiet. They can hear me very well.
“I’m sorry, but that is preposterous. She needs to be cared for no doubt, and we do need the young, but the idea of forcing her to mate just because she has been raped and abused and now finds herself pregnant, is horrendous. I can’t believe that the Balaurs would condone anything like that.” He is really mad.
I scratch my chin, and I see the moment when Drago clues in to what I’m doing, and he shakes his head and looks down, “Well, I’m confused. You are saying it’s preposterous, and horrendous for a woman who has been raped and trafficked and now finds herself pregnant from those who raped her, to be forced to mate, and all of that, but isn’t that what you did with Ria?”
You could literally hear a pin drop. I wasn’t sure most of the people around the whole room were actually still breathing at that moment. I just continued to look at him, and I saw Ria grinning at him, and he was fidgeting, and his face was red.
“That’s not the same thing at all.” He sputtered again.
“How exactly is it any different? She was kidnapped, raped, and impregnated by her rapists. Then she was told by law enforcement that she would be required to stay with the dragons who in fact did those things to her. So, how is what happened with Ria, any different than the scenario I just presented to you?”
The Mayor jumps in, “Well, they were Royal Dragons, and they required a Royal Female, so some allowances needed to be made for the situation.”
“There’s no such thing as a Royal Dragon. That’s part of the whole fucked up problem here. You are all hero-worshipping something that doesn’t even exist. Not to mention, who gives a fuck if they are Royal Dragons or not? Since when was that a free pass to abuse, kidnap, rape, and hold captive a woman?”
The Mayor and Officer Roman kept looking to the guys, who looked about a second from puking on their shoes, to jump in and save them.
“Don’t look at them. They have actually at least had the balls to admit they were wrong, and what they did was wrong, and they are trying to fix what they can. Have any of you ever once told her that what they did to her was not okay? Have you ever offered her help? Have you ever given one single shit about what was happening to her honestly?”
I nodded acknowledging their damning silence, “So, now tell me why I should help your fucking asses?”
