In the end, she agreed to the help, which I knew she would. The guys had a problem for just a bit, but then they gave in and acknowledged that yes, the help was good; he was her mate, they would have to work it out, and they were working on unsegregating themselves as a species. This was a good first step. 

So, right now, we are in the neighborhood where these shifter families live. It’s rather like a subdivision, honestly, but it’s in a Greek style. These families are very friendly and enjoy feeding us and getting to know new people. It's very Greek in heritage, as that is what I have found while on digs around her, so it fits. Several of these families are the wyverns I had never seen before. They are very interesting as they are a distant relative of the dragon, so there is a common ancestry there. There are the phoenix families, and then we also have several brown bear families. 

So, we have talked more about what exactly we are going to do. We have finally, with the help of the phoenixes and wyverns that will be joining us, decided to set the trap in Alaska. They agree that it will be much more believable for us to be vacationing there. So, we are now trying to figure out the best way to take care of the kids and what to do in order to keep them out of harm's way. 

“What about renting a lodge up there? That would be plenty big enough for all of us. The buses we are going to set up to be shipped there, so that will need to be all set up and worked out, but I don’t think it will take too awfully long. Then, if we rent the lodge far enough away from where we are actually setting the trap, they’ll be out of the line of fire. Also, the older kids who stay will be more than capable of taking care of them. Since it won’t be for very long, we can even get everything set up to make sure that Hope and Sarah are good to go, and Heather and Autumn are more than old enough for that.” Ash was the one to offer that suggestion.

“I like that and we just have to set up some kind of protocol, that if things don’t go as we think they will, and if the tide turns violently against us, that no matter what, our priority then becomes to get Ria out of there, so she can get back to the kids, and any of the kids fighting with us, go with her immediately,” Drago says this while eyeing the kids in question. 

They all reluctantly nod at that, “Alexios, if it comes to it, you must go with Collette, she’ll need you to be with her, so that is also just a little FYI there.” I said and he reluctantly nodded as he watched Collette, and I saw her visibly relax, so he smiled a bit at her. 

One thing I was extremely surprised at was when we had started talking to all of the families about what we were doing, and who we were fighting and why, there were a lot of head nods. Apparently, there had been times over the years, even generations ago, when they were also approached, and they tried to get them to participate in these “government-sanctioned” activities. So, as the cult changed, after their old leadership was taken out, it seems to have morphed more and more to not just segregating dragons, but also segregating all shifters as the superior forms of life. So, yeah, the crazy adapted apparently.

“Wow, so all of this time, you guys were being led to believe that Royal Dragons were the only ones who could do these jobs, but at the same time, those same government assholes, were out here recruiting other types of shifters that they were needed to do these jobs and then when that didn’t fly totally it changed to the idea that humans need to be eliminated, and yada yada yada. These fuckers have lost their minds, well, we already knew that, but I still have to marvel at the level of insanity they are displaying.” Ria huffs out and shakes her head.

“Well, the thing I am wondering is where they are getting their soldiers and all of their weaponry? If these people are not really connected to the government, then how are they operating at the level they are? They had to have some serious firepower to take out the Patels and Landrys, so where are they getting this shit, or who is helping them? We know the Senators are legit, so there has to be some level of government operating with all of this shit. Yes, the agencies we thought we worked for are bogus, but there’s government involvement somehow, somewhere, and eventually, if not now, we’ll have to figure out all of that” Cole watches our faces as he lays all of that out. 

“I honestly think that’s another reason why this school facility, or training facility really, is going to be so important. You’re right Cole. There’s so much of this that we haven’t seen or found out. Branches are stretching out all over the place. So, for right now, our priority is to make it safe for our families. Then after that, we’re going to have to find ways to just take it all down, or there will never truly be a time that we as dragons, or other shifters will be safe. So, we have to train the kids, and other kids that need it as well. Maybe we don’t even limit it to dragons, but rather let others come who want to as well. If we did that, we’d have to build up relationships with these other types of shifters, because we would need some of them to come and help train. After all, I wouldn’t know what the fuck I was doing.” There were some chuckles and nods.

So, one more step closer to cementing all of the plans for now and later. The next thing was getting us to Alaska.
