Drego

We all scrambled up from the table to go and see what Constantine pulled up. When we got there it was to see 4 combat-ready Humvees, so, most likely they would be full of men with weapons as well. 

“Okay, since we’re here I can open up the safe room, go grab the kids, and get everyone down here.” All 3 of my brothers took off and so did David. Ria was looking at me in question.

“There’s a safe room down here, but right now it’s only coded to the 4 of us, so I should have already changed that, but we hadn’t yet. So, now since I am here, I will get it open, and we’ll get all of the kids in there while we take care of these stupid mother fuckers.” My dragon was pushing, he wanted out to go and kill the people trying to come and hurt his family, I was telling him soon, give me a sec.

We heard running feet, crying babies, and some upset and questioning tired kids. As soon as they got in the room several got very wide-eyed at all of the electronic and high-tech stuff in here. Then they were being led to the back corner. 

Ria

Drago led me over there and I watched as he opened a file drawer in one of the huge filing cabinets that were down here against this wall. As he opened it, he placed his hand, palm up, on the top underside of the drawer. As soon as he touched whatever was hidden there was a click, and a seam opened all along that wall, and then swung inwards. So, all of the filing cabinets, and the wall behind were actually a door with an extremely well-hidden seam of the door. Not to mention this door was huge. Once opened, the lights started to come on and I could see a long hallway.

I stood and ushered my children down, giving hugs, kisses, and reassurances all around, Brand leaned in, “I’ll watch over them, Mom.” I kissed his forehead.

“I know, son, but we’re here, so, we’re going to go take care of the problem.” He nodded, grinning at me. 

Isobel and Monica were there holding an upset Hope and Sarah, and both were sleepy and complaining. I helped herd them down the hall and into different bedrooms, there were a lot of bunk beds and some of the kids thought it was cool, others weren’t so keen, but they went with it. We told them we’d be back soon. 

The group of us walked back out and back down the hall towards the control room. As we passed the wall the door was built into, there was another electronic panel on the wall, Drago touched it and the door started to close, and we walked out as it closed behind us. 

Drago

“Okay, the kids are all safe and secure, what’s happening Constantine?” We looked over to his computer station.

“They’re still incoming, so we have about 20 minutes till they’ll be knocking on the door.” I snorted.

“Oh no we won’t, I think it’s time for them to meet some dragons, what do you guys think?” I saw eyes go reptilian all around the room and scales were rippling across cheeks and hands. I looked at Ria and her eyes were violet, her dragon was up. 

“Okay, let’s go.” We all left out the front door together, then once on the front lawn, everyone started to shift. 

I felt my dragon surge up pushing, then my bones were shifting, joints popped, muscles tore and reformed, everything stretched, and it hurt like a fucking bitch, but it always did, you just expected it after that first shift when it smacked you upside the head. 

I heard a shrill cry and opened my eyes, I saw my brother’s dragons as they pulled themselves up and shook, letting wings and tail unfurl, and be ready for flight. I saw Ria’s beautiful white dragon shake her head and start to walk forward. She crouched, hopped up and her wings snapped, lifting her up into the air. Her wings beat gracefully, and she rose into the night sky above our heads. 

I turned my massive head and saw an unfamiliar dragon, he was purple and he was bigger than us. We moved towards him and he turned his head to look at us, he huffed and we huffed back, and I smelled him, and then I knew who he was, it was David’s dragon. Then, we all took flight after Ria.

I had to fly extremely fast to catch up to my mate, she was moving very swiftly after her prey. She started to circle an area and I looked down. With my enhanced dragon eyesight, I saw the vehicles. Then I saw my mate do something she’d never done before. She opened her jaws and emitted what looked like an energy wave. It hit the vehicles and they all died, engines smoking, popping sounds everywhere. 

We heard shouting from inside the vehicles and a lot of men were pouring out and pulling things off their faces as they blew up, and were shorting out. Ah, she has an EMP pulse? Holy shit. So, she disabled the vehicles and they must have been wearing night vision goggles.

I saw Ash and Cole swoop low, one blowing a mixture of fire and lava, and the other spraying acid on everything. More screaming as men died, and the few who managed to escape their blasts began to shoot at us, I was about to execute a roll, when a huge blue light circled all of us, and the bullets started to bounce off. What the fuck was that?

Before I really could comprehend anything David dove and did two things. First, he screeched out a call that caused men to fly backwards and things to blow up, then he breathed fire, and it engulfed the rest of them. The idea that they had sent this measly group of men to take out a bunch of dragons was extremely insulting. 

We all circled the area for a moment, then went back to land. We all shifted back and then went in to put on clothes, as shifters, nudity didn’t really phase us much, so, after we were dressed we hurried back to the control room so we could get the kids.

“Hey guys, did you see that blue bubble, what the fuck was that?” I heard David laugh.

“That was Ria, she can cast a shield around herself and those who are in her immediate vicinity.” We all just stared at her

“What? I didn’t know either. So, anyway, before all of that unnecessary drama, I was going to tell all of you that I found them.” We all froze and just looked at her.
