My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate Chapter 201
Liam’s POV
I traced soft circles on the back of her hand with my thumb, sending tingles shooting up my arm. And she let me.
Maybe… just maybe… she was enjoying it too.
“Have you always wanted to find your mate?” she asked, catching me off guard. It was a simple question, yet it struck something deep within me. Still, I didn’t hesitate.
“Always! At least, ever since I was old enough to understand what it truly meant,” I answered without a shred of doubt.
“Really?” She laughed softly, a hint of skepticism lacing her tone. I arched a brow, waiting for her to elaborate. “I just always assumed most guys saw the mate bond as something inevitable—something they’d eventually surrender to, rather than something they actually looked forward to. You know, preferring to ‘sow their wild oats’ first and all that.”
She wasn’t entirely wrong. That description fit Logan to a T. And if I was being honest, I wasn’t exactly innocent myself. Taking a deep breath, I decided to lean into the honesty I promised myself I’d give her. Logan could defend his own choices—this was about me.
“I can’t claim to be completely innocent in that department,” I admitted, hoping she’d understand without needing every detail spelled out.
She winced slightly, glancing away, and I knew she got the message. My heart clenched, hoping it was just the natural possessiveness of the mate bond and not genuine hurt. I never wanted to cause her pain, but I also couldn’t hide my past. If we were going to make this work, we had to know each other—flaws and all. I pressed on, not wanting her to linger on the thought for too long.
“But deep down, I always wanted what my parents have. What they still have. I tried dating, even had a few relationships, but none of them ever felt… complete. Maybe that was on me. I always knew that if I found my true mate, I’d walk away in a heartbeat. So I never fully committed. Eventually, I just stopped trying. I believed the Moon Goddess had a plan, and I trusted that she would bring me the one meant for me when the time was right. And now that I’ve found you, Lia, I couldn’t be happier,” I admitted, squeezing her hand gently.
“I wish I had your faith, Liam,” she whispered, sadness lingering in her voice.
“Faith can be rebuilt, Lia,” I told her, hoping she could hear the sincerity in my voice. “And if you’ll let me, I want to help you find yours again.”
We had been so wrapped up in conversation, I barely noticed the miles slipping away. Before I knew it, we were crossing the border into Blood Moon territory. Slowing the truck, I rolled down my window as we approached the border patrol station.
The night was thick around us, and though my truck was a familiar sight to our warriors, they knew better than to let anyone pass unchecked. Nikolai, our pack Gamma, happened to be on patrol. He jogged over, a smirk already tugging at his lips.
“Welcome home, Alpha! Looks like the alliance with Crystal Moon is already showing some real benefits,” he teased, throwing a wink in Lia’s direction.
My wolf bristled at the flirtation, a low snarl vibrating in my chest. But this was just Nikolai being himself—charming and playful, never one to miss an opportunity to push buttons. He leaned into the window, stretching past me to offer Lia a handshake.
“Hey there! I’m Nikolai. Welcome to Blood Moon, darlin’,” he drawled, exaggerating his Southern accent just to be extra.
I rolled my eyes, already regretting stopping to talk.
“Nice to meet you, Nikolai. I’m Dahlia Sterling, but please, call me Lia,” she replied warmly, offering him a genuine smile.
Ghost growled in my head, not appreciating her giving away smiles so freely. I didn’t disagree.
“Sterling? As in Oberon Sterling, former Beta of Crystal Moon?” Nikolai asked, giving me a pointed look.
I stiffened. I hadn’t planned on making any big announcements just yet, but at the same time, I didn’t want him—or anyone else—getting the wrong idea about why she was here.
“Guilty! Do you know my dad?” Lia asked before I could step in.
“So he’s your old man, huh? I know of him. But I think I’d much rather get to know his daughter,” Nikolai said, grinning like the cocky bastard he was.
“Alright, that’s enough,” I cut in sharply, shooting him a glare. “I’m sure Nikolai has work to get back to.”
Nikolai just laughed, completely unbothered by my irritation. “Catch you later, darlin’,” he called over his shoulder as he walked off.
As I started driving again, I could’ve sworn I heard him mutter something about giving Logan a run for his money. I risked a glance at Lia, silently praying she hadn’t caught that. If she had, she didn’t react. Thank the Goddess.
As we approached the packhouse, I stole another glance at her, watching for her reaction. The Blood Moon packhouse was massive—a towering log cabin built from full-round Western Red Cedar logs. Crystal Moon’s territory had an almost fairytale-like charm, but Blood Moon had its own beauty—wild, rustic, untamed.
When I pulled to a stop, Lia looked up—and gasped.
“That has to be the most beautiful house I’ve ever seen,” she murmured, her eyes wide with wonder. “You actually live here?”
A grin spread across my face at her awe. The thought of her living here with me sent a thrill through my chest.
“Home sweet home,” I confirmed, pleased with her reaction. “It’s only an hour from Crystal Moon, but the elevation makes it a lot colder up here in the mountains. I know it looks huge from the outside, but it’s actually really warm and cozy inside. Come on, let’s get you settled. You must be exhausted.”
Grabbing her suitcase, I circled the truck and opened the door for her. Once she was standing, I reached for her hand again, needing the contact.
“Ready?” I asked.
She took a deep breath, then nodded. “Lead the way.”
The common area was quiet, thankfully. I doubted Lia was ready for a swarm of introductions just yet. We made it up to the Alpha floor—fifth level—without interruption. I guided her to the room I had picked for her, right next to mine. Already, the space was filling with her scent—warm honey and wildflowers.
My wolf rumbled in satisfaction. The urge to pull her close, bury my face in her hair, and drown in her scent was overwhelming. My wolf had much more… intimate suggestions. And if I was being honest, I didn’t entirely disagree. But I was at least trying to be a gentleman.
Sensing she needed space to settle in, I handed her my number in case she needed anything and reluctantly left her to unpack.
As I closed the door behind me, excitement pulsed through me. Ghost was practically vibrating with satisfaction—our mate was finally here, under our roof.
Now, I just had to figure out how to keep her here. We had cleared one hurdle, but a hundred more lay ahead.
Hurdle number two? Explaining Logan.
At least I had a little more time to figure that one out.
