My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate Chapter 326

Dahlia’s POV

I wandered aimlessly through the quaint, cobbled streets at the heart of Midnight Moon’s city center, my feet carrying me without direction or purpose. Planning anything right now felt laughable—how could I, when everything had turned upside down in a matter of minutes? One moment, I was rushing out of my room with eager anticipation to greet my dad, and the next, I stood frozen, watching him wrap his arms around my aunt and claim her as his mate.

So here I was—lost in unfamiliar territory, both literally and emotionally, trying to untangle the chaos inside me.

The thought that my father might find a second-chance mate had never really occurred to me. It was a conversation we’d never had, and in my naivety, I’d assumed he would honor my mother’s memory forever, clinging to it like a lifeline. But given how long wolves lived, maybe that was a foolish, idealized notion.

Yet knowing something logically doesn’t always make it easier to accept.

Seeing him choose my mother’s sister—her own blood—as his new mate left me suspended in a fog of confusion. I hadn’t stormed off in anger, not really, even if it might’ve looked that way. I’d left because they needed space, and I needed time. They had a right to talk, to feel, to figure out what came next—without the burden of my opinions.

No, I wasn’t angry.

I wasn’t sad either.

And I certainly wasn’t happy.

I was simply... stunned. Numb. My own mate bond was disintegrating, tearing apart fiber by fiber, while my father’s had ignited like a spark catching flame. As if that weren’t enough, I’d only just begun my training to control my abilities, and now my teacher was suddenly—indefinitely—distracted. My wolf’s emotions were ricocheting in every direction, and I was holding on by the thinnest thread of sanity.

Needing to escape the spiral of thoughts, I let my instincts take over and found myself heading toward the pack house. Most packs had some form of communal area where members could gather—a living heartbeat of the territory. I hoped Midnight Moon had something similar. Anything to occupy my restless mind.

Despite being smaller, just as their Gamma had said, the pack house was easy to spot. It stood a little taller and broader than the nearby homes, with members filtering in and out, some lingering outside in conversation. I walked straight to the front door and entered without hesitation, pretending I belonged.

The foyer opened into a large, open-concept space. To one side stretched a cozy great room, the other, a spacious dining area. Directly ahead, a staircase curved upward—likely leading to the Alpha’s quarters.

In the great room, a small group was watching a movie I didn’t recognize, and from deeper within the house came the familiar clack of pool balls, hinting at a game room beyond. I was just about to drift toward the sound when a familiar voice called out, laced with amusement.

“Well, if it isn’t Beta Dahlia, gracing us with her royal presence.”

I smirked, turning. “Well, if it isn’t Gamma Zared, rolling out the red carpet.”

He grinned. “Please, call me Lia. Technically, I’m only a Beta female by default—my father’s retired, and our current Beta hasn’t found a mate yet. I don’t carry any real authority.”

“Got it—Lia it is.” His eyes twinkled. “So, what brings you to our humble little hideaway today?”

“I’m not entirely sure,” I replied honestly. “I went out for a walk and just sort of... ended up here. Guess I needed a distraction.”

“In that case, you’re in luck.” He leaned in with a dramatic wink. “It’s my day off, and I happen to be a certified expert in distractions.”

His cheesy grin made me laugh, the tension in my chest easing slightly. He reminded me of Silas—relaxed, harmless, carrying the kind of older-brother energy that instantly put me at ease. There was no trace of the guy who’d accidentally caught me naked a week ago. I decided to give him a pass—provided this version of him stuck around.

“Oh, yeah? Then by all means—lead the way. Wow me with your legendary skill set.”

Without a word, Zared turned and headed toward the game room. Three pool tables dominated the space, a modest bar ran along one wall, and a few other games filled the gaps.

He silently racked the balls, cocking a brow at me. “You play?”

“A little. Been a while, but it should come back to me.”

In truth, I’d once been pretty damn good—back when I used to hustle the boys at the Crystal Moon pack house. But it had been over a year since I last played. Still, this was the kind of distraction I needed.

We were deep into our third game. The stakes: best two out of three. He’d barely edged me out in the first, I’d taken the second, and now we were neck and neck.

The more we played, the more I realized how much I enjoyed his company. Zared had an effortless charm, laid-back and lighthearted. He kept the conversation playful, never digging too deep, and his wicked sense of humor had me laughing more than I had in days.

“Ha! I win!” I shouted triumphantly as I sunk the last of my balls, followed by the eight ball in a clean shot.

Zared clapped his hands in mock disbelief. “Damn, girl. You’ve got serious skills.” He held up a hand for a high-five. “Drinks on me?”

“Absolutely.”

We made our way to the bar. He poured himself a beer while I accepted a whiskey—my favorite. We sat, exchanging jokes and recounting highlights from the match, our laughter echoing warmly around the space.

That’s when I felt it—a heavy presence behind me.

“You two look cozy.”

The voice was low, almost gruff. There was something in his tone—something sharp and possessive—but it disappeared so quickly I wondered if I’d imagined it.

Turning, I faced Alpha Faelan.

“Hello, Alpha Faelan,” I greeted evenly. “Your Gamma was actually the first to welcome me when I arrived here.”

I glanced pointedly at Zared, who had the decency to look sheepish. Good.

“I told you to drop the Gamma crap. It’s just Zared,” he muttered before looking up at his Alpha. “What’s up, Faelan?”

Curious, I watched Faelan’s expression for any hint of reprimand, but he only smiled.

“I could ask you the same, slacker,” he teased, nudging Zared’s shoulder. They clearly shared more of a brotherly bond than a formal one.

“I stopped by to say hi to the pups hanging around today,” Faelan continued, “but since I found you, I was hoping to steal Lia for a few minutes. We started a conversation last night that I’d like to finish.”

I frowned slightly. We’d spoken plenty last night—him, Zared, and me—but I couldn’t recall any unfinished topics. Still, I took the arm he offered and slipped off the stool.

Zared chuckled. “Catch you later, pool shark.”

As we walked, Faelan glanced at me. “Would you like a tour while we talk?”

“That sounds nice,” I said, then added, “Though I don’t remember leaving anything unresolved last night…”

“It wasn’t something left unfinished,” he clarified. “More like something I didn’t bring up because I wasn’t sure you’d feel comfortable discussing it in front of Zared.”

My curiosity sparked. “Okay…”

“I was wondering how long you planned to stay here at Midnight Moon.”

“Oh. I’m not sure yet. Is there a visitor time limit or a rule I should know about?”

He chuckled. “Not at all. I was just thinking that if you’re staying for a bit, maybe you’d like to meet some pack members or attend a few gatherings.”

“That would be nice. Especially now,” I admitted, a wave of emotion sneaking into my voice.

“Why especially now?” he asked gently.

I hesitated. But I found myself wanting to tell someone.

“My dad came to visit this morning. He hadn’t seen my aunt since before my mother passed away. And now... she’s his second chance mate.”

Faelan didn’t flinch. “And how do you feel about that?”

I swallowed. “I honestly don’t know. I love them both, and I want them to be happy. But it’s... strange. My aunt was my mother’s adopted sister. How do they even begin to process something like that?”

We stepped outside onto a private patio that overlooked a glittering pool. It was still early—too cool for swimming—so the space was quiet and secluded.

Faelan considered his words carefully before speaking.

“That does sound complicated. And I can understand your hesitation. I don’t have much advice, but I’ve learned that when it comes to fated mates, the Moon Goddess tends to have reasons for everything—even if we can’t always see them.”

His voice had gone distant, almost introspective, and I wondered what personal experience he might be drawing from.

“I agree,” I said softly. “She’s never made sense to me.”

The air turned slightly heavy with shared understanding, until we both seemed to silently agree it was time to lighten the mood. We chatted for a while longer and exchanged contact info so he could let me know about upcoming events. He also invited me to join him and his friends anytime I needed a break, mentioning that while he and Zared were single, his Beta’s mate often brought friends along.

Eventually, Faelan was pulled away by a business call. I took the opportunity to excuse myself, realizing I’d been gone for hours. It was time to head back to my aunt’s house and face whatever came next.

I still didn’t know what I’d say, and I wasn’t exactly eager for the conversation.

But after today—after laughter, friendship, and a sliver of clarity—I felt just a little more ready.
