Logan’s POV

I was dancing with Thalassa when I caught sight of Thane—the Beta of the Black Blade pack—making his way across the packed dance floor. His eyes were fixed on our mate, and that familiar glint of mischief in them made my blood boil. I knew exactly what that bastard was up to. The last time I’d found him getting too close to my baby girl, things nearly got ugly. There was no way in hell I was going to let him try that shit again.

I leaned in, whispered an apology to Thalassa, and stepped away, determined to intercept him before he got too close.

But he was already within arm’s reach of her before I could stop him. My heart clenched as I realized I wouldn’t make it in time to keep his filthy hands off her. Just as I was about to lose it, he halted and growled—actually growled at her. My vision tinted red.

“What scent is that on you?” he snapped, his voice low and aggressive.

Oh, he was dead. He had just sealed his damn fate.

Thalassa, clearly uncomfortable, tried to defuse the moment with grace. “Um, Thane… it’s nice to see you again,” she said gently, trying to smooth over the tension.

But he wasn’t listening.

“I said, whose scent is that?” he barked again, louder this time.

I reached him just as the words left his mouth, my hand closing around his collar in a flash.

Liam arrived beside me, the fury rolling off him so thick it could’ve scorched the floor.

“Who the hell do you think you are, speaking to my Luna like that?” I growled, barely keeping my wolf from breaking through. I was seconds away from tearing him apart when Lia stepped in, placing her small hand on my arm. Her touch was enough to pull me back from the edge, grounding me.

“Thane,” she said calmly, “there are hundreds of people here. You’ll need to be more specific.”

Her look told me everything—I had to let him go. Even though it went against every instinct I had, I released him.

Thane exhaled sharply, closing his eyes like he was forcing himself to cool off. “Never mind,” he muttered, shaking his head and backing off.

Before I could question what the hell that had been about, the DJ’s voice rang out across the speakers, announcing it was time for the surprise we’d prepared for our mate. No time to dwell on Thane now.

A surge of nerves coursed through me as I remembered what was coming. Liam looked calm, even excited, grinning like a fool. He nodded at me, and we made our way to the stage, where Bastian and Nikolai were already setting up.

“And now, ladies and gentlemen,” the DJ boomed, “your Alphas—joined by their Beta and Gamma—have a special performance for their Luna. Let’s give them our attention as they serenade their Queen!”

Liam took the microphone first, as we’d planned. Thank the Moon Goddess—my stomach was in knots.

“For those of you who don’t know,” Liam began, “our Luna has a deep love for music. She has a beautiful voice, something we got to experience firsthand on one of our very first dates. My brother and I could never compare to her talent, but we knew music had to be part of how we showed her just how much she means to us.”

He paused, looking right at her.

“Angel, I love you more than words can express. Without you, I’m nothing.”

The crowd melted at his words, a collective chorus of oohs and aahs rising up.

Then it was my turn.

He handed me the mic, and I took a deep breath, trying to steady the storm of emotions swirling inside me. My throat tightened, but I pushed through.

“Baby girl,” I said, my voice rough with emotion, “there aren’t enough words in the world to tell you what you mean to me—to us. I’ve heard thousands of love songs, but not one of them says everything I want to say to you. How do you even begin to tell someone that they are your entire world?”

I paused, letting the silence speak where words failed.

“I’m grateful every day that we have a lifetime to try. For now, we chose this song, hoping it says at least a fraction of what’s in our hearts. Without you, I don’t even know who I’d be. But with you... I’m a better man. A better Alpha. And I want to be better for you, every single day. I love you.”

Tears spilled down her cheeks. She wasn’t the only one struggling to keep it together.

I gave Bastian a nod, and he launched into the opening chords on the keyboard, Nikolai’s saxophone sliding in smoothly. Liam began the first verse, and I joined him on the second. Together, we sang the chorus of “What Kind of Man Would I Be.”

Girl, well it's been one of those days again

And it seems like the harder I try

Over and over, I'm right back where I began

But you understand...

Oh girl, when nothing else in this world goes right

Oh, I just want to run to you

You pull me through

Oh baby, who wouldn't want to have you in their life?

Tell me, what kind of man would I be

Living a life without any meaning?

And I know you could surely survive without me

But if I had to live without you

Tell me what kind of man would I be?

Times when it was pointless for me to try

I was more than a desperate man

What seemed like forever was gone with one touch of your hand...

Oh, girl, if I could count all the sleepless nights

When you were there for me

A fool could see, oh baby

Once I found you, there was no letting go.

Tell me, what kind of man would I be

Living a life without any meaning?

And I know you could surely survive without me

But if I had to live without you

Tell me what kind of man would I be?

By the time we finished, she was already rushing toward us, sobbing as she threw her arms around our necks.

“That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard,” she cried, her voice thick with emotion. “I love you both so much.”

My chest swelled with pure joy knowing our surprise had touched her heart. I scooped her into my arms, and together, Liam and I held her close, kissing her tear-streaked cheeks and breathing in her scent like it was our lifeline.

Of all the blessings in our lives, she was the one that made everything else make sense. Without her, we’d be nothing.

The bond flared with the need to be alone with her, and I didn’t hesitate. My legs moved of their own accord, carrying us away from the crowd. As we walked off, I heard Nikolai’s voice behind us, addressing the guests.

“Well everyone, I think that’s the last we’ll see of our Alphas and Luna tonight—but the party’s still going strong!”

The crowd cheered, but I was already gone. Nothing else mattered but her.
