My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate Chapter 310
Dahlia’s POV
I scanned the crowd, searching for my mates, but they were nowhere in sight. A few guests stopped to offer their congratulations, and at some point, my father appeared beside me. He said he, Caleb, and Caden were slipping away for some whiskey and a moment of peace. We made plans to meet for breakfast in the morning before he disappeared into the night.
Still weaving through the sea of guests, I found myself swept into a circle of Lunas. Their voices blended into a hum as they chatted, and I nodded absently, not fully engaged. My attention was elsewhere—on locating Logan and Liam. It wasn’t like them to vanish for this long, and the thought stirred unease in my chest. Just how serious was this rogue situation?
I continued scanning the gathering, eyes darting from face to face, until something caught my attention—though it wasn’t what I had hoped for. Liam remained absent, but Logan stood a short distance away, surrounded by women.
Stunning women.
At least two of them were touching him, all of them laughing and beaming up at him like he hung the moon. One tall woman, whom I didn’t recognize, had a hand resting casually on his shoulder. Her long, nearly white blond hair shimmered under the lights, and her frame was slender, willowy. No doubt, if I had met her before, I would remember—no one would forget hair like that.
The other woman, however, I knew. She was the Gamma of the Shadow Blade Pack—the same woman who had glared daggers at me earlier. With her glossy black hair and glacial blue eyes, she was the kind of beautiful that demanded attention. Her curves were deliberate, every movement fluid and deliberate as she clung to Logan’s arm, gazing up at him with a dreamy expression.
Grrrr. Blue’s growl reverberated in my mind, her fury sharp. No one touches our mate!
Easy, I told her. Throwing a tantrum will only make us look petty—and that’s exactly what they want.
As I fought to keep my emotions in check, a presence appeared beside me, close enough to make my breath hitch.
“I don’t usually meddle with bonded she-wolves,” came a low, sultry voice at my ear. “But I’ll make an exception if it helps one make her mate squirm.”
I turned sharply. “What?”
Thane offered a slow smile, sliding an arm around my waist with practiced ease. “I saw the way you were watching him. Criminal, really—leaving a mate like you unattended.”
I flushed, caught off guard by the compliment.
“Come on,” he said smoothly, “let’s give him a little taste of his own game. Walk with me.”
Without waiting for my reply, Thane guided me away from the Lunas, his arm still draped around me. We moved past the glittering patio and into the dim backyard, where shadows stretched long. He leaned in, whispering something just as a guttural growl tore through the air.
Thane laughed. “Didn’t take long.”
We turned in unison, just in time to see Logan stalking toward us, silver swirling in his eyes, rage carved into every line of his face. My brain screamed at me to step back from Thane, but my body remained frozen.
Logan didn’t even glance at me. His eyes were locked on Thane.
“Take your damn hands off my Luna,” he growled, voice low and lethal.
Thane released me at once, raising both hands in mock surrender. “Easy there, Alpha. Just a friendly conversation.”
He shrugged casually. “Besides, considering the way you let your admirers paw all over you, I figured steadying a lady wouldn’t be crossing any lines.”
A flash of shame darkened Logan’s face at the jab. His gaze flicked toward me—guilt visible—but he quickly looked away. Without another word, he wrapped an arm around me and steered us away.
We both forced smiles as we passed the watching crowd. Logan didn’t slow until we were inside, crossing through the kitchen. With a sharp jerk of his head, he dismissed the kitchen staff. They scattered at once.
He turned to me, tension rolling off him in waves. “What the hell was that, Dahlia?”
My jaw tightened. “Are you referring to your dramatic overreaction? Because if anyone should be asking questions, it’s me.”
I stepped toward him, fury bubbling to the surface. “I didn’t rush across the patio to throw a scene while you played the charming Alpha, letting two different women fawn over you like you were theirs. In front of our guests, no less!”
His shoulders slumped under the weight of my words. He looked ashamed—good. But then something shifted, and his defensiveness returned.
“So what?” he snapped. “That was your way of getting back at me? Trying to make me jealous?”
“No!” I said, aghast. “Maybe that’s what Thane wanted, but it wasn’t mine. He pulled me away before I could process what was happening. I wasn’t even reacting yet when you growled—and then all eyes were on us, and I froze. But don’t you dare suggest I would use someone else to hurt you or Liam like that. I would never humiliate you like that.”
My words tumbled out in a rush. My chest heaved as I finally stopped for air. Logan dropped his gaze, remorse written across every inch of his expression.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, his voice hoarse. “I didn’t mean to hurt you. Or make you feel small or unwanted.”
Every part of me wanted to reach for him, to let the mate bond do its work and wrap us in forgiveness. Blue urged me to go to him, but my anger held me in place.
He lifted his head slowly. “I wasn’t thinking. It’s habit.”
I kept my face neutral, though inwardly I scoffed. Habit wasn’t a good enough excuse—not for this.
He sighed, continuing when I didn’t reply.
“As Alpha—especially the son of one—I was always expected to entertain certain guests. Unmated women sometimes... cross lines. And because of my reputation, my family just assumed I’d handle it. I never liked it. I flirted, sure, but only when I chose to. This? This was just playing a role. One I was eager to escape.”
He looked at me again, imploring. “I should’ve thought about how it would make you feel. I didn’t, and that was wrong. It won’t happen again. I swear.”
He exhaled, the sound almost a plea.
“Have you slept with her?” I asked quietly, the question clawing its way out.
His brow furrowed. “Who?”
“The Gamma from Shadow Blade—the one who was practically clinging to you like you belonged to her.”
Understanding dawned in his expression, followed by horror.
“No. Never,” he said, emphatically. “I’ve never touched a ranked she-wolf. Even before I believed in fated mates, I knew I’d need a Luna. Whether chosen or destined, I would never dishonor her like that. And thank the Goddess I had that much foresight... because She gave me you.”
His voice softened. “Hurting you—even a little—is something I can’t forgive myself for. You are the one gift I’ll never deserve... but I’ll spend my life trying.”
I searched his eyes, and all I found there was truth. Slowly, the heat of my anger ebbed, replaced by the ache to close the distance between us. He stepped forward, gently lifting my chin, and whatever he saw in my eyes must’ve been enough—because he leaned in and kissed me, softly, reverently. Then he pulled me into his arms, pressing his forehead to mine.
“Tell me you forgive me,” he whispered.
I reached up and brushed the side of his face with the back of my hand.
“I’ll always forgive you,” I murmured, echoing the words he once gave to me.
He let out a strangled laugh, stepping back.
“Thank the Goddess,” he breathed. “Because if I have to stand here another second with you in that dress, feeling every curve pressed against me, I’m going to lose all self-control.”
And without warning, he scooped me into his arms and took off running.
