My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate Chapter 332

Faelan’s POV

I knew I shouldn’t have been eavesdropping. I was an Alpha, for the Goddess’ sake—this sort of behavior was beneath me. And yet, despite that knowledge, my feet had a mind of their own and led me straight to the hallway outside the lounge.

Even my wolf didn’t seem to mind the breach of honor. He was suspicious of this Alpha and clearly wanted answers.

When Finnian Blackwell had appeared at my borders requesting a meeting, I hadn’t been in a position to turn him away. Doing so without just cause could have been construed as a hostile act—something I couldn’t afford. He’d come alone, after all, and there’d been no immediate reason to suspect his motives were malicious.

At first, I couldn’t recall which pack he led. But when he mentioned Crystal Moon, recognition struck instantly. That was Lia’s home pack. What the hell was her Alpha doing here, out of nowhere? My instincts flared to life, and I felt the hair on the back of my neck rise.

For the past two months, both my wolf and I had grown irrationally possessive of Dahlia Sterling. She wasn’t ours—not by fate—but we felt she was. That truth hadn’t mattered. At twenty-eight, both Hunter, my wolf, and I had nearly given up on ever finding our fated mate.

But from the very first night we met her, Hunter had claimed her in his heart. He was ready to pursue her immediately, to stake our claim. I, as usual, had to be the voice of reason.

She was dealing with too much. Making a move too soon would only scare her away. So I had chosen patience. Friendship. Waiting for the moment when she might be ready for more.

That didn’t mean I was about to sit back and let someone else swoop in and take her from me.

From the moment Finnian walked into my office, he hadn’t wasted time. He asked about Lia almost immediately, and I knew then he wasn’t here as a friend—no matter what she might’ve told me about him.

Which was how I found myself now, shamefully listening in from the hallway like some adolescent pup. If he was going to be competition, I needed to know what I was up against.

The longer I listened, the harder it became to stay hidden. Every word out of his mouth made my blood boil. I wanted to march in there and tear him apart—Alpha or not. But I knew doing so would only expose what I was doing, and I couldn’t risk that. So I forced myself to stay still, even as Hunter raged within me.

He wasn’t the man she’d expected to see—that much was obvious. Her tone was clipped, strained. She was uncomfortable, and that alone had me on edge.

“I want to sink my claws into this bastard,” Hunter growled, prowling inside my mind. “He wants what’s ours—and he already has a mate!”

The same fury burned in me, but I shoved it down. Hunter’s aggression wouldn’t help her right now. If anything, it would only make things worse.

Was this guy serious? Even eavesdropping, it didn’t take much to piece together his story. He’d broken Lia’s heart when he met his fated mate—and now, a year later, he wanted a second chance? Willing to discard his Luna just to win her back?

Pathetic.

He clearly didn’t know her at all if he thought Lia would ever consider that offer. She had too much self-worth, too much integrity.

And then he kissed her.

Red-hot fury surged through me like wildfire. My wolf lunged to the surface, and I had to clutch the edge of the doorway to stop myself from storming in there and tearing him away from her.

But it ended quickly—thank the Goddess. I felt a strange, savage pride swell in my chest as I heard her shove him off.

Now, my sympathy shifted—to her mates. She hadn’t officially rejected them yet, so they would’ve felt that kiss. No one deserved to experience that kind of betrayal, even if they’d wronged her.

Lia was yelling at him now, her voice fierce and unapologetic. I could almost see the fire in her eyes, and damn if it didn’t make me grin like a fool.

Then his voice dropped low, with a threatening undertone that immediately put me on high alert. That was it. I was done standing still. I started toward the lounge, fists clenched—

—but then Finnian came flying past me without a glance, his retreating footsteps echoing down the corridor.

Good riddance.

I entered the lounge and my eyes found her immediately. She was curled on the floor against the far wall, looking small and shaken. Without a word, I walked over, sat beside her, and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her gently into my side.

“I was coming to check on you and… kinda heard the last part of your conversation,” I lied. “You okay?”

She gave a short, dry laugh. “Me? I’m fantastic.” But then came the sniffle, and it was like a dagger to my chest.

“Don’t do that, Kitten,” I said softly. “Not with me. I’m here, and you can tell me anything.”

“I know that, Faelan. You’ve been amazing—more than I could’ve asked for. You became important to me so fast, and I know I can trust you. I guess I just… don’t know what to say. I still can’t believe that happened.”

Hunter purred in satisfaction at her words. We were important to her.

“You had no idea he felt that way?” I asked carefully. Her gaze flicked to mine, and I caught a glimmer of guilt in her eyes.

“Before I came here… I went out one night with friends. Finnian was there. He gave me some weird vibes, but I brushed it off as one of those ‘doesn’t want me, but doesn’t want anyone else to have me’ kind of things. I think maybe I wanted to believe it, more than actually did.”

“Was his Luna there with him?” I asked, and she nodded.

“Then of course you wouldn’t have read into it. Who the hell brings their mate if they’re planning to chase someone else?”

She didn’t reply, but her silence spoke volumes.

“You’re probably right,” she murmured, but her voice was hollow, as if she didn’t believe it.

We sat in silence for a while, just breathing in each other’s presence. It calmed my wolf, and even eased the anger still simmering under my skin.

Then Orin’s voice slid into my mind via the pack link.

“Alpha, the guards just called me over to the west border. We have a situation. I’m not sure how you want to handle it.”

“What kind of situation? Is everyone okay?” My pulse spiked. I hated when he was vague.

“Uh… the twin Alphas from Blood Moon are here. They’re demanding to see Lia. And I don’t think they’ll take no for an answer.”

Shit.

I didn’t want her anywhere near them. The mate bond was strong, and watching her get pulled back to them might just destroy me. But Blood Moon was a powerful pack. Mine wasn’t big enough to risk a war. And sooner or later, she’d have to face them—if only to reject them properly.

“Fine,” I growled through the link. “I’m on my way.”

I rose and extended a hand to Lia.

“Come with me.”

She blinked up at me, confused. “Where are we going?”

“You’ll see,” I said, my voice cryptic as I pulled her to her feet. “Seems like you’re popular today.”

I hated springing this on her, hated what I was walking her into. But telling her now would only upset her sooner. I could only hope she’d forgive me for it later.
