My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate Chapter 325

Oberon’s POV

In the span of mere minutes, I’d gone from desperately pleading with the Moon Goddess to return my daughter unharmed, to wanting to shake some sense into her myself. I knew she was in pain—of course I did. I’d spoken to her mates every single day since she walked away from them, so I understood the misunderstanding she was laboring under. I knew my daughter well enough to grasp the torment she must be feeling, believing that the very heartbreak she tried to avoid had caught up with her anyway.

But still… how could she be so damn selfish? How could she let me worry, let me suffer, like this?

I already knew the answer. She didn’t trust me not to tell her mates where she was. And if I was being honest with myself, maybe she wasn’t wrong to doubt me. I’d been wrestling with the decision all week—whether or not I should call them, tell them she was alive, at least ease some of their suffering.

Because they were suffering. That much was clear. With every conversation, I could hear their grip on sanity slipping. I’d lost a mate before—I knew what that kind of agony felt like. Letting them suffer when I could give them even a shred of hope? It was tearing me apart.

So, I compromised.

Lia had only made me promise not to reveal her location. She never said I couldn’t tell them she was safe. That was a loophole I was willing to exploit.

Before I could talk myself out of it, I grabbed the phone and dialed Liam. Between the two, he was barely holding it together—but he was still the more stable one. Not that that was saying much.

“Oberon?” he answered on the first ring, voice sharp with panic. “What is it? Did you find her?”

“She called me. She’s safe,” I said quickly, trying to get it out before he lost control again.

“Thank the fucking Goddess.” His relief poured through the line, raw and trembling. “Where is she?”

Silence hung between us.

“Oberon—where is she?” he demanded, sharper this time.

“I promised her I wouldn’t tell you. And if I break that promise, she won’t trust me again—and if she runs, you might never find her.” I tried to make him understand. “But I’m seeing her tomorrow. I’ll do everything I can to make her listen to your side.”

“Please let us come with you,” he begged. The desperation in his voice was like a dagger in the chest. “Please, Oberon. I can’t breathe without her. Neither can Logan. Our wolves are going feral. We need her—we just need a chance to explain what really happened.”

“I know, son. I know that pain all too well,” I said quietly. “I swear to you, I’ll do everything in my power. But I have to keep my word to Lia. I’ll call you tomorrow after I’ve seen her.”

“Fuck!” he roared, just before the sound of something shattering cracked through the line—and then he was gone.

I didn’t sleep much after that. At dawn, I was already on the road to Midnight Moon. My mind wouldn’t quiet, my thoughts a tangled mess of fury and worry.

Anger clawed at my chest—anger at Lia for leaving, for shutting me out. But beneath that was understanding. I knew her. I knew how she retreated into herself when life hurt too much to face.

Calliope, however, had no excuse. She should’ve told me Lia was with her. We argued about it over the phone—she insisted Lia was an adult and had the right to make her own choices. Technically, she was right. But the father in me still wanted to hold onto my fury.

I wasn’t sure which side of me would win when I saw them later today.

And then there was the question of how to reach Lia. I knew her stubbornness, knew how fiercely she guarded that broken heart. She wouldn’t easily believe me if I defended her mates.

But I didn’t believe Logan had betrayed her—not the way she thought. I didn’t know the full details of what went down between them, but I was convinced it was a tragic misunderstanding. That didn’t mean the twins were innocent. They had their own mess to clean up, and if they truly wanted my daughter back, they’d need to prove they could protect her heart next time.

Lost in thought, I hadn’t even realized I’d reached the gates of Midnight Moon. Calliope had made arrangements for my visit, so I was waved through without incident.

Surprisingly, I remembered the way to her cottage—tucked away on the edge of town. My wolf, Blaze, had been pacing restlessly in my head since we crossed the border, growing more agitated the closer we came.

“Easy, pal,” I murmured. “I know you’re worried, but she’s safe.”

He growled low in response, but said nothing.

As I pulled into the driveway and stepped out of the car, I felt it—an anxious urgency pushing at me from the inside. Blaze was practically snarling by the time I made it to the front door.

No more waiting! Go in! Break the door down if you have to! he barked in my mind, barely restrained.

Thankfully, before he could force me to do something reckless, the door opened.

And everything stopped.

Calliope stood there, eyes wide with shock. I’d seen her before, of course—years ago, when I was mated to her sister. Back then, she was family by extension. Maybe I’d never really looked at her properly, or maybe the bond I had with my late mate clouded my perception.

But now?

Now I saw her clearly. And the she-wolf standing before me was radiant. Stunning.

Mine.

MATE! Blaze howled, and I echoed him in my soul.

My feet moved without thought. One second I was standing there; the next, she was in my arms, her strawberry scent wrapping around me like a drug. I buried my face in her neck, breathing her in like she was oxygen.

Mine, Blaze rumbled possessively.

She was tense, hesitant. I could feel the uncertainty radiating off her. But she didn’t pull away. Not right away.

When she finally stepped back, her eyes searched mine, full of unspoken questions. Complicated ones.

I didn’t have all the answers. Not yet. But there was one thing I needed her to hear.

“I don’t know what all this means yet,” I told her honestly. “And I know we’ve got a hell of a lot to talk about. But I believe this—us—is a gift from the Moon Goddess. And I’m yours, if you’ll have me.”

She didn’t speak—just stared for a heartbeat longer.

Then, slowly, a smile broke across her face. Wide and radiant. It stole the air from my lungs.

And I smiled back, feeling—for the first time in a long time—like something in my broken world had just started to fall into place.

I never once imagined the Moon Goddess might grant me a second chance mate. It wasn’t something I dared hope for or even allowed myself to consider. I’d already been blessed once—with Elin—and she had been more than any man could ever deserve. She was my everything, and I had long made peace with carrying her memory for the rest of my days.

But now, standing here with Calliope and feeling the unmistakable pull of the mate bond thrumming between us, I didn’t feel as though I was betraying Elin. My love for her hadn’t dimmed. She would always be my first love, the mother of my daughter, a light etched into my soul that no time or bond could ever erase. And yet, in this moment, with Calliope in my arms, it felt like Elin herself had guided me to her sister—had handed me forward into the arms of someone who could piece me back together.

A flicker of movement caught in my peripheral vision, dragging me from the moment. I turned to find my daughter, standing silently, her expression unreadable as she took in the sight of me holding her aunt so intimately. Her gaze lingered on my hand resting possessively on Calliope’s waist before she abruptly blinked and turned away.

“I think I’ll go for a walk. Give you two some space,” she said flatly, her voice giving nothing away.

As she moved toward the door, I reached for her, pulling her into a tight embrace.

“I missed you, my beautiful girl,” I murmured, holding her close even as she tried to wriggle free.

“Daddy, it’s okay. I’m fine,” she said, her voice too even to believe.

“I’ll be back soon. You two should talk alone first.” And with that, she slipped outside, leaving me with a weight of emotion I couldn’t yet name.

I turned my gaze back to Calliope, taking a moment to soak her in. She looked just as she had in the quiet moments over the phone—warm, wise, and breathtaking. Ever since I first called her for help with Lia, we’d been speaking almost daily. Some of those calls had been laced with flirtation, but I’d dismissed it then as harmless banter. Now, sitting beside her, the air thick with unspoken feelings, I wasn’t so sure where to begin.

“Oberon…” she said softly, pulling my attention back to her. “I know I’m your second chance mate, but you’re my first. I’ve never had a mate before. So I’ll admit, you’ve got more experience with this than I do… but from where I’m sitting, I honestly don’t know how we’re supposed to make this work.”

My wolf stirred at her words, restless and uneasy. She must have sensed it because she shrank back slightly, her eyes widening.

“Not that I don’t want to,” she rushed to explain. “It’s just... it’s complicated. You were with my sister. How do I move past that?”

The pain in her eyes mirrored the ache in my chest. I stayed quiet for a moment, trying to find the words that could honor both Elin’s memory and the woman sitting beside me now.

“I can’t pretend to understand how that feels,” I said at last. “But I do know how I feel, Calliope. And I know what I can promise you.”

I leaned closer, taking her hand gently in mine.

“Loving you will never take away from the love I had for Elin. I gave her every part of myself, and when she died… a part of me went with her. But if I’d followed her into the dark, I would have missed this moment. This chance to build something just as precious with you. Loving her doesn’t mean I can’t love you. I can. I do. And while I will always hold her memory close, I swear to you—I will never let it stand between us.

You are not her. I don’t want you to be. You are your own woman—so vibrant, so fierce, so utterly yourself. I want to spend the rest of my life discovering every layer of you… your thoughts, your laughter, your body, your soul. You’re mine, Calliope. A gift from the Goddess herself. And I intend to treat you like the treasure you are.”

Tears rolled silently down her cheeks as I spoke. She searched my face, eyes full of emotion, and whatever she saw there must’ve been enough. Because in the next breath, she flung herself into my arms, her fingers clutching at my shirt as she sobbed into my chest.

I chuckled softly, stroking her hair, holding her like I never wanted to let go.

“Does this mean you’re willing to give us a chance?” I asked, rubbing gentle circles on her back.

She didn’t speak, just nodded against me. And for the first time since arriving, both my wolf and I exhaled in peace.

“B-but… what about Lia?” she asked through a hiccup.

“We’ll talk to her when she gets back,” I promised. “She’s strong, stubborn, but never selfish. She’ll understand, eventually.”

Her breathing began to slow, the tears subsiding, and I continued holding her, my mind caught in a quiet war with itself.

I knew what I wanted. My wolf did too—he practically snarled at the thought of hesitating. But it had been over five years since I’d been intimate with anyone. Elin was the only woman I’d ever been with, and now, I wasn’t sure what Calliope’s past held. What if I wasn’t enough?

Blaze growled, furious at the thought of anyone else touching our mate. A natural reaction. Still, I reminded him she hadn’t waited her whole life for us, just as we hadn’t for her. What mattered now was that she would be our last.

“Calliope?” I murmured, almost shyly.

“Mmm?” she hummed, sounding blissfully content.

I lifted her chin, coaxing her to look at me.

“Can I kiss you?”

Her cheeks flushed, and for a second, I thought she might pull away. But then she nodded, and that was all the permission I needed.

I leaned in slowly, giving her time, then brushed my lips softly against hers. The sparks we’d felt from the moment we touched were nothing compared to the wildfire igniting in that kiss. Her taste was sweet—like strawberries—and I couldn’t get enough. I wanted to devour her, to memorize the flavor of her skin.

With a low growl of pleasure, I pulled her into my lap, my hands roaming her curves until they settled on the soft swell of her ass. She moaned, and I took full advantage, slipping my tongue past her lips to taste her fully. It was intoxicating, that first full taste of her, like drinking from a well I’d thirsted for all my life.

“Calliope, my love,” I breathed against her kiss-swollen lips, before diving in again—eager, desperate, whole.
