Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 106: A Mischievous Plan
**Elara's POV**
Theo didn’t even look at me. Not really. His eyes had skimmed over me like I was just another face in the crowd, another obligation to acknowledge. It stung more than I wanted to admit. Men didn’t ignore me. They literally could not no matter how hard they tried to. From the moment I’d come of age, I’d been the center of attention wherever I went. Kings, Alphas, warriors—they all fell over themselves to earn even a glance from me. But Theo... Theo looked at me like I was nothing. Like I was just another guest in his castle, another name on a list.
At first, he had seen me as a friend and nothing more, but today he seemed to be even slightly disgusted by me which broke my heart, but of course I couldn't show it.
And Tiana. That girl. That *commoner*. She stood beside him like she belonged there, her hand in his, her eyes steady and unflinching. She didn’t even flinch when I met her gaze. If anything, there was something in her expression, something knowing, something almost pitying—that made my blood boil. She’d seen the letter. I was sure of it. Theo had seen it too. But his father... his father hadn’t. I could tell by the way he’d greeted me, his tone polite but distant, his eyes devoid of any recognition. The letter I’d sent, the carefully crafted words meant to sway him, to remind him of the alliance our families could have... it had never reached him. It had gotten to Theo instead and he had probably shown her.
I wondered if they perhaps had laughed at my desperation to win him back. The thought was enough to frustrate me.
We settled in after a bit, my parents oblivious to everything, even my mood. It was annoying how I was not seen by them and even more annoying I wasn't seen by Theo. Previously, when we had been friends and had hung out for a few weeks when our pack was here, he seemed to know my every mood. As if he had known me since forever.
"Where are you going to?" My father asked as I began to walk out of the quarters assigned to us.
"To take a walk."
"Why?" He questioned.
"Because I want to," I rolled my eyes at him. "Do you have a problem with that?"
"Not at all. I was just thinking you'd like to have some rest... The journey must have been tiring."
"I'd like to take a walk."
"Whatever suits you," he replied, yawning tiredly.
I clenched my fists at my sides, my nails digging into my palms as I walked through the castle corridors. The walls seemed to close in around me, the weight of my frustration pressing down on my chest. How could this be happening? How could *he* be so blind? I was Elara of the Lycans. I was royalty. The most powerful princess to exist. I was everything a man like Theo should want. A woman that every Alpha wanted and prayed to be mated with. And yet, he looked at *her* like she was the sun and he was just a planet orbiting her light.
What could I do to make Theo look at me in the same way? I thought to myself.
I turned a corner, my thoughts spinning, and nearly collided with someone. I stepped back, my eyes narrowing as I recognized Theo’s sister, Layla. She was standing there, her arms crossed, her expression unreadable. For a moment, we just stared at each other, blinking.
“Elara,” she said finally, her voice cool. "I don't think we have spoken before."
"We haven't," I said coolly. "When I was here last, you were always with the Beta's mate who did not seem to like me much. So I never got the opportunity to speak with you."
"Oh, Amara," Layla snorted derisively.
"I suppose so," I shrugged. "Well..." I trailed off suggestively, wondering if I could leave.
“Can we talk?” She suddenly asked, after staring at me intensely.
I raised an eyebrow, my lips curling into a faint smile. “Talk? About what?”
She glanced around as if making sure no one was listening, then stepped closer. “About Tiana,” she said, her voice low. “You don’t seem to like her much. Or is it me?"
I laughed, the sound sharp and bitter. “Like her? Why should I? She’s nothing. A nobody. And yet, she’s standing where I should be.”
"Where are you supposed to be?" She asked with a raise of her brows.
"I was Theo's first mate," I told her then explained the situation of how I accepted him back immediately but he turned me down and I tried to speak to his father but his father never got the letter. "My fault... But if she didn't come along I wouldn't have this problem."
Layla’s expression didn’t change, but there was something in her eyes, something almost sympathetic. “I used to like her,” she admitted. “Before she and everyone else turned on me. Before she became... this. Conceited and never having my time. Feeling above everyone."
I tilted my head, studying her. “So you don’t want her as your Luna?”
Layla hesitated, then shook her head. “No. But my father... Now that he knows about her family, about where she comes from, he’s changed his tune. He wants the union. He thinks it’s good for the pack.”
I scoffed, crossing my arms over my chest. “Of course he does. Men are all the same. They see power, and they forget everything else.”
Layla’s lips twitched, almost like she wanted to smile but thought better of it. “So what are you suggesting?”
I stepped closer, lowering my voice so only she could hear. “I’m suggesting we do something about it. You don’t want her as your Luna. I don’t want her standing in my way. Why don’t we... discuss a plan to stop this?”
Layla’s eyes narrowed, but she didn’t pull away. “A plan?” she repeated, her tone cautious. “What kind of plan?”
I smiled, the kind of smile that didn’t reach my eyes. “The kind that ensures Tiana doesn’t end up where she doesn’t belong. The kind that reminds Theo and everyone else exactly who deserves to be by his side.”
Layla was silent for a moment, her gaze searching mine. Then, slowly, she nodded. “Alright,” she said. “What are you thinking?”
