Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 73: Forget About The Past
**Theo's POV**
I fought an eye roll. This woman was getting on my nerves so much.
She continued without pausing—. “And, of course, my father believes I would make an excellent match for someone of your caliber. A strong alliance between our families would be most beneficial.”
I sighed, shifting uncomfortably in my chair while looking towards the door.
“You seem distracted, my lord,” Clarissa said, narrowing her eyes. “Do I not hold your attention?”
“My apologies,” I said smoothly. “It has been a long day.”
“You are fortunate, my lord, to have a father who looks out for your best interests. A lesser man might be swayed by... inappropriate attachments. But you, I’m sure, understand the importance of duty. The importance of finding a fit Luna."
Her insinuation was clear, and my wolf growled faintly in my mind. He and I were both irritated by her.
“I believe a man should choose his own path,” I said.
Her smile faltered. “Of course, my lord. But surely, you see the wisdom in marrying a woman who can uphold your family’s reputation.”
The conversation dragged on, and after what seemed like an eternity, the time with her was up.
“Thank you for a lovely visit, Lord Theodore,” she said, curtsying again.
“The pleasure was mine,” I lied, bowing stiffly.
As the door closed behind her, I let out a sigh. The thought of spending another moment with her was unbearable. My father was becoming intolerable, and yet, I knew going against him outrightly would only cause more trouble.
I could only keep stalling for now.
Tiana was my mate, and no amount of manipulation or matchmaking would change that.
**Tiana's POV**
After my breakfast had digested, I had to do training and unfortunately, Fiona was not in the field yet. Due to Amara's pregnancy getting heavier and that she could be in labor anytime from now Peter spent most of his time by her side.
The training grounds were buzzing with activity, the air filled with the sounds of clashing swords and grunts of exertion.
Finally, Fiona showed up. "How are you feeling today?"
"I'm okay," I shrugged and suddenly she attacked me. I was not expecting that and fell to the ground.
"Always keep your guard up," She grinned.
"Right," I mumbled, taking her outstretched hand to get up.
We began to spar for a while and my body ached from the intensity of the session, but I pushed through, refusing to show any weakness.
“Focus, Tiana,” she snapped, landing a light blow on my shoulder. “Your mind is elsewhere.”
I gritted my teeth and adjusted my stance. “I’m fine.”
“No, you’re not,” she countered, blocking my next strike with ease. “And until you stop letting whatever’s bothering you cloud your judgment, you’ll never land a hit on me.”
The frustration boiled over, and I swung harder, forcing Fiona to take a step back. She raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. With a swift move, she disarmed me, my sword clattering to the ground.
“That’s enough for today,” she said, stepping back.
I bent down to retrieve my weapon, avoiding her gaze. “I’ll do better next time.”
“You’d better,” she replied, but her tone had softened. “Tiana, if you want to talk—”
“I’m fine,” I cut her off, walking away before she could press further.
It was a lie— I was far from fine.
Later that evening, I sat in my room, staring out the window as the moonlight spilled across the floor. My muscles throbbed from training, but the ache in my chest was far worse.
A knock on the door broke through my thoughts, and I turned to see Fiona peeking in.
“Tiana?” she said softly, stepping inside. “You’ve been quiet all evening. Are you okay?”
I forced a smile, though I knew it didn’t reach my eyes. “Just tired. Sorry for snapping at you earlier."
Fiona crossed her arms, leaning against the doorframe. “Tired, huh? That’s why you’ve been moping around since training?”
I sighed, knowing she wouldn’t let it go. “It’s nothing.”
She gave me a pointed look. “Does this ‘nothing’ have to do with Theo?”
At his name, my chest tightened, and I looked away.
“Did something happen?”
I hesitated, debating whether to tell her. Theo has probably told her we were mates from what I could deduce. “He… he accepted me as his mate.”
Fiona’s eyebrows shot up in surprise but I knew she was faking it to cover up what Theo told her. “He what? And you’ve been brooding about it? Shouldn’t you be happy?”
“I should,” I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. “But I’m not.”
“Why not?” Fiona asked, sitting down beside me.
“Because…” I trailed off, struggling to find the words. “What if he changes his mind, Fiona? What if he realizes I’m not good enough? I don’t have a wolf. I’m not strong. I can barely hold my own in training. How could I ever be Luna?”
Her eyes softened, and she placed a hand on my shoulder. “Tiana, do you really think Theo would have accepted you if he didn’t believe you were worthy? That man is many things, but impulsive isn’t one of them.”
“You don’t understand. This is a secret you can't tell anyone. I had a mate before and he rejected me. Said I wasn’t strong enough to stand by his side.”
Fiona frowned. “Theo is not the man who rejected you. And you’re not the same woman you were back then. You’ve grown stronger, even if you refuse to see it.”
“But what if he only accepted me because of the bond?” I whispered, the fear clawing at me. “What if he doesn’t want me once he realizes what I lack?”
Fiona studied me for a long moment. “Have you told him any of this?”
“No,” I admitted, my voice cracking. “And what if has told you? What if he’s already regretting it?”
“Tiana, Theo hasn’t said a word to me about you not being worthy. And if he had, do you think I’d be sitting here calmly talking to you instead of knocking some sense into him?”
I blinked, her words catching me off guard. “You’re sure?”
“Positive,” she said. “Theo cares about you, Tiana. I see the way he looks at you. Give him a chance to prove it. And stop letting your past define your future.”
“I don’t know if I can,” I whispered.
“You can,” Fiona said. “But only if you let yourself try.”
