**Tiana’s POV**

I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the open closet in front of me. The clothes that had been provided were beautiful, but none of them seemed quite right for tonight. I needed something elegant but not too elegant, simple but not too simple. I needed something that was a balance of both since I didn’t want to make a wrong impression.

Theo's father, the Alpha, would be there tonight. I had to make a good impression, not just for myself but for Theo as well. The thought made my stomach twist in knots. I had no idea what kind of man the Alpha was. Would he be kind and understanding, or stern and intimidating? I needed to be prepared for anything.

As I sifted through the dresses, my mind raced with thoughts and worries. What if I said the wrong thing? What if I wasn’t good enough? I picked up a deep blue dress and held it up to myself in the mirror. It was beautiful, but perhaps too formal for a dinner.

I sighed, putting it back. I wanted to look nice, but not like I was trying too hard.

I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I barely registered the knock on the door. Startled, I quickly composed myself and went to open it. Layla stood there, a warm smile on her face.

"Good evening, Tiana," she greeted.

"Good evening, Layla," I replied, stepping aside to let her in. "Please, come in."

She entered, her eyes immediately scanning the room and landing on the open closet. "I hear you’ll be at dinner with us... With my father present tonight," she said, her tone light but curious.

I nodded, feeling a rush of nervousness all over again. "Yes, Theo invited me. I’m not sure what to wear, though. I want to make a good impression, but I don’t want to look like I’m trying too hard."

Layla laughed softly. "I understand. It can be nerve-wracking, to meet the Alpha. But don’t worry too much. Just be yourself."

"That’s easier said than done," I admitted, biting my lip. "I don’t know what kind of person he is. What if I say something wrong?"

Layla walked over to the closet and started flipping through the dresses. "My father is a fair man. Stern, but fair. He values honesty so if you’re genuine, he’ll see that easily."

I watched her, feeling slightly reassured by her words. "I just want to make a good impression. For Theo’s sake and yours too."

Layla pulled out a dress, a simple yet elegant gown in a soft lavender color. "How about this one? It’s not too formal, but still very pretty."

I took the dress from her, holding it up to myself. It was perfect. "It’s lovely. Thank you, Layla."

She smiled, pleased with my reaction. "I think it suits you. And don’t worry so much about what to say. Just be yourself, and everything will be fine."

I nodded, taking a deep breath. "I’ll try. Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it."

Layla gave me a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Anytime, Tiana. Now, I should go get ready myself."

I quickly changed into the lavender gown, smoothing out the fabric and adjusting the fit. It was comfortable and flattering, just what I needed to feel a bit more at ease. I brushed my hair and applied a bit of makeup, keeping it simple and natural. I wanted to look like myself, not like I was putting on a show.

With a final glance in the mirror, I took a deep breath and headed towards the dining hall.

I arrived a bit early, finding a quiet corner to compose myself before the others arrived. The dining hall was beautifully decorated with nice utensils and plates.

Slowly, the room began to fill with the members of the pack. I noticed Theo talking with his father at the head of the table, both of them looking serious but relaxed. Fiona entered shortly after, her eyes scanning the room until they landed on me. She gave me a curt nod, which I returned with a small smile.

**Theo's POV**

That evening, I made my way to the dining hall with my father and sister. Tiana was already there, waiting. My father sat at the head of the table, I noticed Fiona already seated, looking poised and elegant as usual. Her eyes flicked to me, and she quickly averted her gaze.

I turned to look at Tiana who was dressed in a simple but elegant lavender dress that looked amazing on her. She caught my eye and gave me a small, tentative smile. I returned it.

"Welcome, everyone," my father began. "Shall we begin our meal?"

The dinner proceeded with the usual formalities. I kept glancing at Tiana, who seemed to handle herself well despite the tension. My father occasionally looked her way, clearly assessing her.

After a while, my father turned his attention to Tiana. "So, you are the one my son has brought into our pack. Tell us about yourself."

Tiana hesitated for a moment before speaking. "My name is Tiana, Alpha. I was living with my parents before my mother got killed in a rogue attack. He married a new wife but I've felt out of place since then. I left my pack hoping to find a place where I feel like I belong."

I noticed she did not mention being mistreated or me saving her from the rogues. She did not want to bore my father with details to make her old family look like the villain.

My father nodded thoughtfully. "And you believe you have found that place here?"

Tiana glanced at me, then back at him. "I hope so, Alpha. Your son has been very kind to me."

My father's gaze shifted to me. "Theo has a good heart. But kindness alone is not enough to survive in our world. You will need to prove yourself, Tiana."

"I understand," she replied.

"Very well," my father said, "We shall see.”
