Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 48: Scheduling A Visit For The Lycan King
**Theo's POV**
My heart skipped a beat as I froze in place. The seal was from Corvin Soren, the Lycan King. What could the Lycan King want from us?
I stared at the letter, my mind racing. The Lycans were known to be proud and seldom communicated directly with werewolves unless it was of the utmost importance. Our species had evolved from them so they were naturally more powerful and some even had magical powers. This— receiving a letter from them was definitely not a regular occurrence. My curiosity and anxiety peaked as I wondered about the contents of the letter. The last time the Lycans had sent a letter, it was a severe warning to all alpha's of wolf packs about the illegal wolf immigrants coming into Lycan packs. The content of the envelope was not a real letter where a pen was written on paper. The content of that letter was a body part of an illegal immigrant.
"Father, what does the letter say?" I finally asked, unable to contain my curiosity any longer. Has there been any case of our pack citizens or soldiers looking for trouble with the Lycans?
My father held up the sealed letter, his expression serious. "As you can see, I have not broken the seal of the Lycan King. I wanted all of us to be here while I open this letter because I am too old for surprises."
Peter, standing beside me, looked puzzled. "Do you have any idea why the Lycan King would send a letter to us? Lycans are higher creatures than wolves and are very proud. They don't often associate with wolves as much as normally."
My father shook his head. "I have no idea. That's why I wanted us all to be here for this. It could be a warning... Like the last time."
"I hope we have not done anything to offend him without knowing it.”
He handed the letter to me. "Theo, I want you to read it. If you feel like I can handle it, read it out loud to us."
I nodded, accepting the letter with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Carefully, I broke the seal and unfolded the paper. I could tell he had written it in a rush because of the way the ink from his quill stained the paper badly. He had not waited for it to dry before sending it in.
The letter was detailed and urgent. The Lycans were suffering from rogue attacks, and these rogues were even worse than the mutated rogues our own pack was dealing with. The reason was chilling: these were mutated Lycan rogues, not just mutated wolves. The letter was pretty much about his concern about the growing threat and mentioned that he had heard about our pack's recent efforts to build a fortified wall and medications and preventive or rather repellent measures against the rogues.
Swallowing hard, I looked up at my father and Peter. "The letter... It's quite serious. But not because we have offended them."
"Well, that is a good thing," Peter and my father said simultaneously while breathing a sigh of relief. “The Lycan King mentions that they are suffering from rogue attacks, but these rogues are worse than what we’re dealing with. They’re mutated Lycan rogues. Not mutated wolf rogues like we are."
Both my father and Peter looked stunned. "Mutated Lycan rogues?" my father repeated, his voice barely above a whisper.
I nodded and continued, "He also says that he has heard about our security system and our defense mechanisms, including the wall we’re building. He’s interested in learning more about them. He would like to implement them in his pack."
"Well we definitely can't say no or we'll be asking for his wrath," Peter said. "Plus they are our ancestors and they are going into extinction."
"We do owe it to them," my father sighed. "Plus it is not a big deal. It's not as though what he's asking for is sensitive information that can potentially ruin us in future."
"I agree," Peter replied. "I guess we should mail them copies of the architectural drawing. What do you think?"
"Oh no, we don't have to," I said hastily, realizing I hadn't finished detailing them on the content of the letter the Lycan king wrote. “The Lycan King states that he’s willing to travel here to Shadowclaw Pack to discuss these matters in person. He wouldn't want to put us in harm's way because we want to help him. He suggests having dinner with you, Father, and me and Peter, to talk about our defenses and the preventive measures we’ve developed. That's all he's asking... I hope."
My father’s eyes widened. "He’s willing to come here? That’s unexpected."
Peter nodded. "Lycans rarely travel to werewolf territories because we are not worthy enough for them," he grinned. "This must be incredibly important."
I looked down at the letter again, "Of course it is. He doesn't want his people dying and it's only a matter of time before those rogues stop roaming the border and then decide to attack the whole pack. He wants to see our wall and understand our defenses. He’s heard about the medications and preventive measures we’ve been working on to stop the rogues from coming around the pack."
"Corvin seems a little desperate. This is damn serious."
"Like I said, they are becoming extinct."
We stared at each other in silence for a long while.
My father finally broke the silence. "This is an opportunity we cannot ignore. If the Lycan King himself is willing to come here, we must be prepared to welcome him and share our knowledge."
Peter nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. This could strengthen our alliance and provide us with valuable help in future. Other werewolf packs that are always greedy to take over a territory won't dare to cross us with his backing."
"Well then," my father said. "Get a maid to refill my inkpot and provide a fresh set of papers. I will send him a response and we will choose a date to meet.”
