Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 27: Father Will Like Her
Tiana's POV
Theo shot Fiona a warning look, but she simply shrugged, feigning innocence. I focused on my plate, pretending not to notice the tension or notice that she had said the statement to hurt my feelings.
"Is there something you would like to share with us, Fiona? Like the reason for your statement?" Amara asked, her tone polite yet laced with challenge.
Fiona met Amara's gaze squarely, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Oh, nothing at all. I was merely pointing out that with the arrival of the Alpha, certain decisions will finally be made clear."
"Decisions like?" Amara asked. She was so bold by daring Fiona to complete the statement, knowing fully well that Fiona wouldn't dare anymore. Especially with the warning gaze Theo was giving her.
"Just... Decisions you know," she shrugged, then stared at me pointedly.
Layla frowned, clearly displeased with Fiona's tone. "We are all well aware of our father's influence, Fiona. There is no need for dramatics."
"Indeed," Theo added, his voice firm. "Let's enjoy our meal without unnecessary remarks. As much as I hate to call you out, I'm referring to you Fiona."
"Come on," she rolled her eyes playfully. "We all know my mouth has no filter," she laughed lightly. "You just have to ignore."
"I think it will be a better option if you learn to keep your mouth shut."
The rest of breakfast passed in tense silence, everyone seemingly lost in their thoughts and trying to pretend that the confrontation had not happened.
After a few minutes, Layla interjected, with a very warm smile. "I'm sure that Father will like her," she said, giving Fiona a pointed look. "Father always ends up liking those that we like because we have his judgment."
Theo nodded in agreement, his eyes softening as he looked at me. "I have no doubt about that. He will love you."
"I hope so," I smiled.
Fiona huffed quietly, but before she could say anything more, the door to the dining hall opened, and Peter walked in. Amara's face lit up as she stood and rushed to him. He greeted her with a warm embrace, his hand rubbing her belly gently before he acknowledged the rest of us.
"Good morning, everyone," Peter said, his voice calm and steady. "Sorry for my lateness."
Theo gave him a nod. "It's alright, Peter. Hope you are well?"
"Oh, I will be once I have a good meal." He grinned and then turned to Amara, kissing her on the cheeks. "How are you doing, love?"
"I'm doing well, now that I'm seeing you."
"Ugh," Layla and Fiona rolled their eyes dramatically at the same time.
"May the moon goddess grant me my mate soon because I am about to lose it with these two," Layla groaned. "Must you remind me of my loneliness every time?"
"Oh dear," Amara giggled. "You'll find yours at the right time. There's no need to be in a haste. The moon goddess will give you the perfect match."
"There are hardly perfect men out there," Fiona sighed. "Hoping the moon goddess will give me someone like my best friend... Or maybe my best friend himself," she sighed.
Theo cleared his throat uncomfortably and turned to Peter. "Amara mentioned a border dispute and something about rogues. What happened?"
Peter's expression remained neutral, but his eyes flickered with a look that suggested they needed to discuss this in private. "There was no border dispute," he said evenly. "But rogues were getting around the border. We've been able to curtail it, though."
Theo nodded, understanding the unspoken message. "I'm glad to hear it's under control," he replied, his tone careful.
Amara looked between Peter and Theo, a hint of concern in her eyes. "Is there anything we need to be worried about?" she asked, her voice gentle but probing.
Peter shook his head, his gaze still on Theo. "No, everything is fine for now. But we'll need to stay vigilant."
Theo's eyes met Peter's, and there was an unspoken understanding between them. "We'll talk more about this later," Theo said, his voice low.
Peter nodded, then turned his attention back to Amara, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, everything will be alright."
I couldn't help but notice the tension in the room. It was as if everyone was waiting for Peter to admit that not everything was alright. I glanced at Theo, who gave me a small, reassuring smile.
"Let's not let this ruin our breakfast," Theo said, his voice firm yet kind. "We have a long day ahead of us."
Layla smiled at me, "Tiana, you have not had any sweets. You must try the pastries. They're divine."
I returned her smile, grateful for the distraction. "Thank you, Layla. They do look delicious."
As I reached for a pastry, I couldn't help but notice Fiona's glare. She seemed very determined to make me feel unwelcome. I decided to ignore her and focus on enjoying the meal.
Theo leaned closer to me, his voice a whisper. "Don't let Fiona get to you. She can be tough sometimes... But once you get to know her deeply."
I nodded, appreciating his support but noticing he still tried to defend her. "I know. I'll try not to let her bother me."
Peter, who had been quietly observing our exchange, spoke up. "Tiana, how are you feeling today? I heard about what happened yesterday."
I took a deep breath, trying to keep my voice steady. "I'm feeling much better, thank you. I'm sorry for causing any worry."
Peter smiled kindly. "There's no need to apologize. We're just glad you're okay."
"Thank you."
"Ah, yes..." Theo said, looking up at Peter. "I forgot to tell you, my father will be returning tomorrow."
"That is great news!" Peter smiled and then his smile faded. "We have to make sure we have everything under control then. Show him you are capable."
Theo nodded and then sighed. "Let's have a meeting once you feel satisfied with the meal," he said.
