Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 51: Theo's Rejection
**Theo's POV**
Anger flared within me, mingling with the confusion and sadness that already clouded my mind. I could see why Peter did not like her at all. She was haughty and rude. If there was one thing Peter hated the most, it was proud women. "What do you mean? What are you saying?"
She took a step closer, her eyes boring into mine. She had a cocky smirk on her face that I wanted to wipe off. Her presence was infuriating. "I, Elara, daughter of Corvin Soren, reject you, Theodore, son of Alpha Roman, as my mate."
The words hit me like a physical blow, but I quickly steeled myself. It did not matter to me at all because I had thoughts of rejecting her earlier on. However, I could not deny that I was a bit hurt but that was only because of the mate bond that we had. "I, Theodore Romano, son of Alpha Roman, accept your rejection."
Her eyes widened in surprise at my swift acceptance. She clearly hadn’t expected that. "You accept my rejection just like that?"
"Yes," I said firmly. "You are not fit to be my Luna."
Elara's expression hardened, her pride clearly wounded. "And why is that?" she demanded, standing up from my bed and placing her hands on her hips. She seemed extremely angry and I was sure it was because she was not used to people standing up to her. It was fun to see her this way.
"For the same reason I am not fit to be your mate," I replied evenly not bothering to hide the smile of triumph that broke out on my face. This situation reminded me of Fiona who enjoyed seeing people put in their place after they had just disrespected someone who had done nothing to be disrespected. I felt a sick kind of joy as I said those words.
Her eyes flashed with indignation and she appeared to be very flustered. "I am not weak."
"If you say so," I smirked.
"I'm not weak!" She hissed.
"Do you feel insulted?" I grinned, enjoying how annoyed she was.
"Of course I do!"
I chuckled dryly, shaking my head. "And am I weak?"
"You don't seem to be actively doing much in the pack," she retorted. "I was only speaking facts when I said you were weak."
"And I am only speaking facts as well," I smiled. "In fact, you are not just weak. You are unnecessarily proud, rude and snobbish. You do not have respect for those you feel are beneath you. Those aren't qualities of a Luna. If you see someone is weak, should you not feel the need to protect them instead of belittling them."
"The Beta seems to be the one doing all of the work," she defended. "Those are not the qualities of a soon-to-be alpha."
I frowned, genuinely curious. "What makes you say so?"
She crossed her arms, her expression still defiant. "He took the lead in dinner’s conversation and seemed to know more about your defenses than you did. I understand if your father did not say much about it because I am aware he was away on a trip so obviously he left you in charge but it seems like Peter was the one in charge."
I couldn't help but laugh, a bitter edge to my amusement. I hated people who jumped into conclusions and judged people easily. I was glad she rejected me because I really dodged a bullet with her. "Is that what you think? Peter was the one who was in charge while I was laid back and did nothing?"
Elara’s eyes narrowed, clearly not expecting my reaction. "Yes. It seemed pretty clear to me. And I'm certain it would have been obvious to everyone else at the dinner."
I took a step closer, leveling my gaze with hers. "Do you know how I spent my days before your arrival? Supervising the construction of our defenses, coordinating with the engineers, and ensuring everything was in place. Peter may have led the conversation, but that doesn't mean I'm not actively involved."
"Then—"
"Hold on, I am not done talking. Before the planning I had to meet my father halfway through his journey so he could be protected because he did not know about the rogues," I said. "Do you know how many rogues I had to fight off?" I asked her.
"I could have as well sent the soldiers off by themselves but I made sure I was there with them because I was not comfortable knowing it could be a death sentence for them. You barely know a thing about me but you are so quick to conclude that I am weak," I chuckled. "And you think I would even want you as my Luna with such behavior? You are mistaken."
She didn't back down, but I could see a flicker of guilt and remorse in her eyes. "Then why did he speak instead of you? Why didn't you take the less in the conversation but let him speak like it was only he who put in work?"
"Because we work as a team," I explained. "Peter is knowledgeable and eloquent. He handled the explanations and talked with the architects while I focused on other aspects of our preparations."
She seemed to consider my words, her posture relaxing slightly. "I see. Perhaps I was too hasty in my judgment."
I raised an eyebrow. "Perhaps? You were too hasty in your judgment, this is not a matter of perhaps is maybe."
"You are right," she sighed. I could tell it took her a lot of mental strength to say those words.
"But why are you here, Elara? How did you even get into my room?"
She smirked, a hint of pride returning to her demeanor. "I climbed and got in through your window."
I shook my head, a smile tugging at the corners of my mouth despite the tension between us. "How reckless. Are you aware that you could have just used the stairs?”
