Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 80: You're The Alpha To Be

5 min 3.7K views

**Theo's POV**

Peter’s jaw tightened. “Indifferent? You think I don’t care? I’ve been by your side through every battle and every challenge. I’ve done nothing but support you, and now you’re questioning my loyalty because I didn’t jump into an argument that wasn’t mine?”

“Because it is yours!” I snapped. “You’re the one they’re pushing to replace me. Do you think I don’t notice how the council looks at you? How my father keeps praising you? Tell me, Peter—are you really not tempted by it?”

He stepped closer. “No, Theo. I’m not. But I’m not going to waste my energy fighting battles that you should be handling yourself. You’re the Alpha to be. Act like it.”

His words hit me like a punch to the gut. “So now it’s my fault?”

“I didn’t say that,” he said, exhaling sharply. “But you’re letting them get to you. They’re trying to rile you up, to make you doubt yourself—and it’s working.”

“I’m doubting you, Peter,” I said coldly. “Not myself.”

"If that’s how you feel, then maybe we need to rethink this partnership. Because I’ve done nothing but have your back, and you’re standing here accusing me of betrayal.”

“You know what?” I said, stepping back. “Maybe I can’t trust you. Maybe you’re just as eager as they are to see me fail.”

Peter’s eyes flashed with hurt, but he didn’t lash out. Instead, he gave a bitter laugh. “You’re letting them win, Theo. You’re letting them tear us apart. But if you want to blame me for their schemes, go ahead. Just don’t come crying to me when you realize how wrong you are.”

He turned and walked away, leaving me alone in the hallway.

For the first time, I felt truly isolated. The pack was against me, my father was against me, and now, even Peter...

I clenched my fists, anger and frustration swirling inside me. I didn’t know who to trust anymore.

**Tiana’s POV**

The moonlight bathed the garden in a soft glow as I wandered aimlessly, trying to sort through the storm of emotions inside me. I couldn’t stay in my chambers any longer—not with what made my heart ache.

Today has been so hard for me that I could not focus at all, on my training or any other thing. I had asked Theo for one more day and after that, I had barely been able to see him. He seemed to be so busy but at the same time, I couldn't help but wonder if he had finally realized I wasn't worth it and was looking for a better bride.

“Lost, are we?” a voice called out.

I was startled and spun around quickly. A woman stepped out from behind a tree, her silver hair glinting in the moonlight. She wore a long, flowing cloak, and her eyes sparkled with an uncanny knowing.

“I... I was just walking,” I stammered, unsure whether to feel wary of her. She looked like someone who was a priestess or perhaps a direct descendant of the moon goddess.

She smiled faintly. “Walking without purpose leads you in circles.”

“Who are you?” I asked, frowning.

She didn’t answer directly. “The question is, child, who are you?”

I blinked. “I’m Tiana.”

“Ah, yes. The woman without a wolf." She began circling me slowly, her voice had some sort of dreaminess I couldn't understand. “You fear the path before you, and yet, you’ve already chosen it in your heart.”

“I don’t understand,” I said, growing frustrated.

Her smile widened. “The mate bond is not about perfection. The Alpha’s son's heart beats for you, and yet you doubt your own worth. Why?”

“Because I’m not strong enough!” I burst out. “I don’t have a wolf. I’m not... enough to be his Luna.”

She stopped and tilted her head, her expression softening. “Strength isn’t measured by teeth and claws, child. A Luna’s power lies in her wisdom, her courage, and her support to her mate. You have that, do you not?”

I hesitated. “I... I don’t know.”

She leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Then find out. Time waits for no one, and neither does fate. I'm Jael if you care to know."

Before I could respond, she stepped back and vanished as mysteriously as she’d appeared.

Perplexed and somehow unnerved by the woman's presence, I made my way back to my chambers, her words still echoing in my mind.

When I reached my door, I hesitated, my hand hovering over the handle. My thoughts were all over the place. I loved Theo but I could not ignore the pack’s expectations and my own fears. Could I truly stand by him? Could I face the challenges of being Luna?

Before I could open the door, I felt a presence behind me. Turning, I saw Theo standing at the end of the hall.

“Tiana,” he said, his voice softer than I expected.

I stepped aside to let him in, my heart pounding in my chest.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

He leaned against the wall, running a hand through his hair. “Everything. The council. My father. Peter...” He trailed off.

“What happened with Peter?”

“We argued,” he admitted. “My father will be announcing him as heir by the next council meeting because I failed. I accused him of wanting to take my place, and now... I don’t even know if I can trust him anymore.”

I frowned. “Theo, Peter’s been your friend for years. Do you really think he’d betray you like that?”

“I don’t know what to think,” he said, his voice cracking.

"You don't have to think about it. At least not now. You look like you need rest."

His shoulders sagged with relief, and for the first time that night, a faint smile crossed his lips.

“I didn’t come to pressure you,” he said quickly. “I just... I needed to see you. To talk.

I nodded.

“I met someone tonight,” I said after a long silence. “She told me that strength isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being brave enough to try.”

He asked. “Who?”

“I don’t know,” I admitted. “But she made me realize something. I don’t want to lose you, Theo. I’m scared, but... I want to try.”

“You mean..."

“I’ll stand by you,” I said, trying to ignore the tremor in my hands. “If you’ll have me.”

“I never wanted anyone else.”
