Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 128: The Luna’s Request
**Erika's POV**
But I couldn’t refuse. I had to know and was genuinely curious if he knew the reason my mother and her sister barely talked.
This time, when I entered the throne room, I didn’t wait for him to speak first. I stepped forward, my chin high, my voice steady despite the racing of my heart.
"When were you going to tell me Elara was my cousin?"
There was silence. Alpha Corvin watched me, his expression unreadable, but I saw it, the flicker of something behind his eyes.
Then, slowly, he smiled.
"Ah," he said, voice almost amused. "So, you finally figured it out."
"Yes."
"But I don't believe that's the full truth, Erika," he said with a smile. "And I don't care how long it takes but I will find out the truth."
"What other truth could there be?" I asked him.
"When I believe you are of age, you will visit the constellation room with me. Then I will confirm my answers."
"What answers are you looking for?" I asked him, cocking my head to the left.
"I don't even know the questions, how can I know the answers?"
"Alpha Corvin," the voice of a guard interrupted. "We are all set."
"I'll have to see you later Erika."
Three Years Later ***(A few Weeks Before The Present Day)***
For three years, I had been training.
Not just my body, but my mind, had been pushed to its limits as I honed my power through relentless practice, sleepless nights, and endless trials. There were times when it felt like I was trying to grasp something that didn't want to be controlled, but I kept going because I had to. Alpha Corvin's absence had been a welcome relief, as the expectation on my shoulders had lessened. He wasn't around to constantly test me, push me past my limits, and remind me of the truth buried in my blood.
A truth he did not even yet know.
But in his absence, I had found happiness with Carlo. We had been together for three years, and he had been my rock, my steady ground when everything else felt uncertain. We had waited for the right time, waited for me to come of age, but now the time had finally come. Our mating ceremony was just around the corner, and soon Carlo would be my mate in every sense of the word, bound to me as I was to him.
It was supposed to be a joyful occasion, and it was. But despite the happiness, I couldn't shake off the feeling that there would be problems.
Elara and I talked more often than before and I trained her sometimes. We were similar— she had a passion for horse riding and duelling soldiers but her mother did not want her around me.
I had just finished a grueling training session, my muscles aching and my mind sharp, when a messenger found me with an unexpected summons. "The Luna requests your presence," they said. I froze, surprised by the request. The Luna, my aunt, had kept her distance from me for the past three years, always polite but distant. She had never sought me out or asked me questions, and I had given up trying to get to know her.
But now, she wanted to see me. I didn't hesitate, curiosity getting the better of me. I needed to know why she had summoned me after all this time. When I arrived at her chambers, I found her standing by a table, her back to me, with the warm glow of the setting sun casting a golden light on the room. "You called for me?" I asked, trying to keep my tone even.
She turned to face me, and for a long moment, she just looked at me, as if memorizing my face. "You've grown strong," she finally said, her voice neutral. I frowned, unsure of what to make of her comment. "I've had to be," I replied, trying to keep my tone light.
But then, a flicker of something crossed her face - regret, maybe. She straightened, her expression unreadable once again. "You are to meet Alpha Corvin tonight, yes?" she asked, and I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. "Then listen carefully, Erika," she said, her voice low. "You must not enter the Constellation Room with Alpha Corvin."
Her words hit me like a cold splash of water, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. "What?" I asked, trying to understand what she was saying. "Do not go in alone," she repeated her expression firm. "Why?" I pressed, but she just shook her head. "Because there are things that should remain undisturbed."
I felt a chill run down my spine as I tried to read between the lines, trying to understand what she was afraid of. "You're not making sense," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. But she just looked at me, her eyes locked onto mine. "I don't have to," she said, her voice quiet but firm. "Just do as I say."
I stared at her, trying to understand what was going on. Why was she telling me this now, after all these years? What was she hiding? "You've avoided me for three years," I said, my voice softer now. "And today, you summoned me just to tell me this?" I asked, trying to understand her motives.
She closed her eyes briefly, as if composing herself, before opening them again. "Some things are better left in the shadows, Erika," she said. She stepped closer, her gaze locking onto mine. "Promise me," she said, her voice urgent.
But I didn't move. I didn't answer. Because I wasn't sure I could promise her anything. I wasn't sure what she was asking me to do, or what she was hiding. And I wasn't sure if I could trust her.
Then a thought crossed my mind... Three years ago, my mother had asked me to never go to Alpha Corvin alone.
What were the two of them hiding?
I left the Luna’s chamber feeling unsettled.
There was an odd weight on my chest, a tension I couldn’t quite shake. Her words echoed in my mind.
"Do not enter the Constellation Room with Alpha Corvin."
I didn’t understand why, but I knew one thing for certain—she had never spoken to me with such urgency before.
I reached for the door handle, pushing it open and then I stopped.
Because standing right there, on the other side, was Alpha Corvin.
