Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 53: Layla Confrontation
**Theo's POV**
Elara laughed, although it sounded more like a snort. "Very funny," she said, walking over to the window. "See you tomorrow Theodore."
"Stop," I said quickly, stepping toward her. "You could get hurt. Climbing up was easier because you had something to grab onto. Climbing down without proper support is dangerous."
"I'll be fine," she replied confidently, glancing back at me with a smirk. "I've done this before. Not once, not twice."
"I know we have established that you're unnecessarily reckless Elara," I insisted, "take the door. It’s safer. Do you want me on my knees to beg you?"
"No." She shook her head. "Going out of your room at this hour would give people the wrong impression about us. I’d rather avoid unnecessary gossip. And don't say you have control over the things your maids say. They may not say it in your presence but they sure as hell say it behind your back."
I sighed, realizing she had a point. But I wasn't about to let her take such a reckless risk. "I have a better idea than you climbing down without protection."
She raised an eyebrow, "Oh? And what would that be?"
I walked over to the bed, grabbed a bedsheet, and started making knots in it. "We’ll use this. I’ll lower you down slowly, and you can cling onto it. It’s not perfect, but it’s safer than free-climbing down the wall."
"Resourceful, aren’t you?" She teased. "I was wrong, you would make a good Alpha."
"Just cautious," I replied, tying the final knot and giving the makeshift rope a firm tug to test its strength. "And thank you... for you know... the compliment. Come on, let’s get you down safely."
We moved to the window, and I tied the knotted sheet around a part of the window frame. Elara grabbed onto it, her eyes meeting mine briefly. She looked away almost immediately, biting her lips subtly.
"Ready?" I asked, holding the sheet tightly.
"Ready," she said, gripping the fabric and starting her descent.
I lowered her slowly, making sure that she had a steady grip.
"Almost there," I called down as she neared the ground.
Elara landed softly, looking up at me with a triumphant smile. "Made it. Thank you, Theodore."
"You're welcome," I replied, feeling an unexpected warmth in the way she called my name. I needed to get my shit together. "Goodnight, Elara."
"Goodnight, Theodore." She turned and walked toward the guest house.
I pulled the sheet back up, closing the window and securing it tightly. As I stood there, I couldn't help but smile, fascinated by her thinking and recklessness. Although I had initially disliked her, I realized she might not be such a bad friend after all.
I was not going to lie to myself; there was something compelling about Elara. Her confidence and carelessness were a little bit charming. She wasn't what I had envisioned in a mate, but perhaps there was room for a different kind of relationship. She somehow reminded me of Fiona so there was a possibility that we could be friends.

I woke up abruptly to the shocking sensation of ice-cold water being poured onto my face. Spluttering and gasping for breath, I shot up in bed. I was so angry and annoyed because I had been woken up from sleep so early and I was also wondering who would dare to disrespect me like this.
Wiping my face with the blanket, I blinked rapidly to clear my vision and saw my younger sister, Layla, standing by my bedside. Her eyes were dark and dangerous, she stared at me with a very cold gaze. I could swear that her gaze was colder than the water she poured on me.
Still, I was not going to let her cute almost childish-like face make her get away with her mischief.
"Layla, what the hell?" I exclaimed, trying to shake off the chill. "What are you doing?"
She seemed extremely angry at me and I had wondered why or what I had done to get her angry.
"Seriously, Theo, how could you?" she snapped, her voice laced with venom. She dragged the sheets off of me and snarled.
My mind raced, still trying to figure out what I could have done to offend her so deeply. "What on earth is happening? What did I do?"
Layla crossed her arms, her glare intensifying. "Why would I have to hear what we are going through in the pack from a complete stranger?"
"What are you talking about?" I asked, genuinely confused.
"Are you going to play dumb about the rogue situation?" She asked, folding her arms across her chest. "And why was I not told that we would be having an important guest? Why are you leaving me in the dark?"
I stared at her, completely taken aback. "Layla, I—"
"Don't 'Layla' me," she interrupted, her voice shaking with frustration. "I had to hear about the Lycan King and his daughter from one of the maids! A maid, Theo! Do you have any idea how embarrassing that is?"
I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache coming on. "I'm sorry, Layla. Everything has been so chaotic. I didn't mean to exclude you."
"Even if it somehow skipped your mind to inform me the Lyncan princess was coming what about the freaking rogues?" She shouted. "You're suddenly travelling to meet father where he is but we don't know why. The infirmary is barely attending to people, there are meetings I'm not aware of?"
"Layla—"
"Worst of all I decided to greet the princess this morning and we talked as girls and I was like oh I'm surprised you're here and she's like it's cause we are facing the same problem of mutated rogues and my father wanted to discuss it with yours since you guys are handling it so well!" She screamed. "And I'm looking at her like some stupid doll because I had no idea what she was talking about! Then of course I had to play along to fish for information."
"Layla I'm sorry. I just did not want to bother you and make you panic!”
