Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 70: Please Don't Reject Me
**Theo’s POV**
I knew for a fact that the Moon Goddess answered prayers when I heard my wolf say the word mate.
A soft warmth filled my chest, making me feel calm and happy. A small smile spread across my face as I leaned closer to her. When I kissed her, it wasn’t filled with unexplainable hunger like before. This time, it was gentle and slow. I wanted to show her how much she meant to me without saying anything.
I pulled away slowly, taking in a deep breath.
“I, Theodore Roman, son of Eli Roman—Alpha of the Shadowclaw Pack, accept you, Tiana, as my mate.”
Her eyes widened, shock evident as she blinked rapidly. Her mouth opened, then closed as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words. Slowly, she took a step back, shaking her head. Then she took more steps backwards.
“Tiana?” I said, my heart palpitating against my chest. "What's wrong?" I asked, moving forward while trying to close the space between us. I reached for her arms by her side. "Talk to me. What's wrong?" My voice sounded so desperate. I had never in my life been so desperate for a woman.
She looked at me with panic-stricken eyes. “Theo… I—”
My wolf growled low in my chest, sensing her hesitation. My heart was racing, a deep fear clawing at me as I stepped even closer. I reached out for her second hand, desperate for her to rethink whatever it was that she was currently thinking.
“Tiana, please,” I whispered, swallowing hard. “Don’t reject me. I am begging you."
Her breath hitched, and she shook her head again gently pulling her hands from mine as she moved further away from me. “Theo, it’s not… it’s not that simple.”
“Yes, it is,” I replied, my voice trembling. “Tiana, we’re mates. The Moon Goddess chose us for each other. We’re supposed to be together. Why are you pulling away?”
She bit her lip, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. “It’s complicated.”
“What is complicated?” I asked, my voice breaking as desperation seeped into my words more than before. “It was complicated before, sure. We didn’t know why we felt this pull, but now we do. We’re mates, Tiana. This is what we’ve been searching for, even if we didn’t realize it.”
She turned her head away, refusing to meet my gaze. “Theo, please… just give me a moment to think.”
“No,” I said firmly, stepping closer until we were only inches apart. I used my thumb to pull her face up so she could look at me squarely in the eye. I was not willing to accept her subtle rejection. “I thought we had something, even before this. Didn’t we? Or was that all in my head?”
Her lips parted, but no words came out. The corridor became deadly quiet, with only our breathing and the sound of the wind being the only thing that could be heard.
“Tiana,” I pleaded, my voice cracking. “Say something. Please.”
“We do,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. “We have something. But this… this changes everything.”
“It changes everything for the better,” I said, gripping her hands tightly. “You’ve felt it too, haven’t you? That connection? The way we just fit together?”
“I have,” she admitted, her voice shaking. “But Theo, you don’t understand. There are things about me… things that make this impossible.”
“What things?” I pressed, my chest tightening. “Whatever it is, you can tell me about it and we will work through it. That’s what mates do.”
She shook her head, tears slipping down her cheeks. “It’s not that simple. You don’t know what you’re asking. You don't want to know those things."
“I’m asking you to let me love you,” I said. “I’m asking you to trust me, to let me in. Whatever it is, we’ll figure it out. Just don’t push me away. Please."
She pulled her hands from mine again, wrapping her arms around herself as though she was cold. “Theo, I need time. Please. Just… let me think.”
Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. I stared at her, the pain in my chest almost unbearable. “Time?” I repeated.
She nodded, avoiding my eyes. “Yes. Time to process all of this. It’s a lot, Theo."
I swallowed hard, fighting back the tears threatening to spill. “Fine,” I said hoarsely. “Take all the time you need. But just know, Tiana, I’ll be here. I’m not going anywhere. I won't be giving up on us.”
She looked at me then, her eyes filled with guilt and something else I couldn’t quite place. “Thank you,” she said softly before turning and walking away.
I stood there for what felt like an eternity, staring at the empty hallway where she’d disappeared. My wolf howled in anguish, the bond pulling at me, begging me to chase after her. But I couldn’t. Not when she’d asked for space. That was only going to make her hate me the more.
Eventually, I forced myself to move, dragging my feet back to my room. The moment the door closed behind me, I fell on the floor, my head falling back to hit the door as a single tear slipped down my cheek. “What did I do wrong?” I whispered to no one in particular.
My wolf whimpered, restless and unsettled, but I pushed him down. I couldn’t deal with his frustration on top of my own.
I stumbled to the bed after a long while of wallowing in self-pity by the door, collapsing onto the bed. Staring up at the ceiling, I replayed the night over and over in my head, trying to figure out where it had all gone wrong.
Was it something I said? Something I did?
Sleep didn’t come easily. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her face—her smile the first time I kissed her, and then her fear when I accepted the mate bond.
But she needed time.
So, I would wait.
No matter how much it hurt, no matter how restless my wolf became, I would wait for her. Because she was worth it.
