Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 93: Fear And Confusion
**Theo's POV**
I froze for a moment, dumbstruck as the handle turned and the door opened with a sigh of escaping steam. My father got out, he was balding, a graying man with wet hair. He had a towel hanging at the back of his neck.
“Theodore,” he said, acknowledging me with a tip of his head in my direction, his gaze unwavering. “Why are you here so early?”
Without delay, I tucked the letter into the pocket of my robe, trying to move it to the less conspicuous area. He raised an eyebrow at me at the sudden movement.
Suddenly I nearly blanched, Nonetheless, I made sure to keep my composure. If he saw the letter... No. He didn’t need to know about it. I wouldn’t allow Elara to use her cunny moves to make my father reject Tiana and take her rightful spot in my life away from her.
“There is something to tell you,” I responded quietly, though my heart was pounding like a jackhammer.
He quirked an eyebrow and beckoned me on as he walked to the armchair beside the fireplace; he blew on his wet hands and used the towel to dry them.
“The Alpha and Beta of the Moonstone Pack have arrived sooner than you estimated,” I said in an official-like manner.
"But He said he would be sending the son. They do have an important journey they planned months ahead before this," he commented.
"That they do. But they are here."
My father suddenly arrested his movements and looked at me, his eyes darkening a little. “Before the fixed up date?”
"Yes," I nodded. “They have brought their heirs with them. They only came a day earlier so they— the Alpha and Beta could greet and congratulate us in person."
"That is thoughtful of them," he smiled, quite pleased.
"I suppose it is."
"Theodore, are you sure everything is alright with you?" He asked me after a few minutes of silence.
"Yes," I replied, swallowing hard, trying to adjust my robe and comport myself.
"Are you sure about that?" He asked with a raise of his brows.
"Yes, father."
We were quiet for a moment before my father sat back in the chair and dropped the towel onto the armrest. His face was all passive, but I could see the gears turning in his head, as I knew them all too well. He did not believe me, at the same time he had no evidence that not all was well.
“Very well,” he said at last. We will be organising to give them dinner tonight. It will be an opportunity to boost our friendship and extend to them the respect they so richly deserve.’
I patiently bobbed my head, I remained emotionless even though my brain was working overtime. Meeting with the werewolves of the Moonstone Pack would also mean that Tiana would also be present. They had asked too many questions without meeting her, how was I sure they were not going to ask questions that would make her deeply uncomfortable?
And now, with the letter from Elara burning a hole in my pocket, I felt more tense.
“Will Tiana be present as well?” I asked carefully, watching his reaction.
My father’s eyes flickered with something I couldn’t quite place. “Of course. She is to be your Luna. Her presence is non-negotiable.”
A mix of relief and anxiety washed over me. Relief that my father seemed committed to the union—at least for now—and anxiety because Tiana was likely to be questioned and the letter in my pocket felt like a ticking time bomb.
“Make the arrangements,” he added, dismissing me with a wave of his hand. “And ensure everything is perfect. I won’t tolerate any missteps.”
“Yes, Father,” I said, bowing my head low as was the tradition. He raised his eyebrows at me because he knew I only did that in public.
The letter was still in my robe and as I walked away the envelope pressed against my side in a painful reminder of Elara's betrayal.
I’d made my choice. Tiana was mine and no letter or Lycan princess was going to sway that. And yet, when I left my father’s quarters and found myself alone in the corridor, I felt it was only just starting to be the beginning of a war.
There was this cold feeling upon me. Would Elara confront my father about his lack of acknowledgement to her letter? Or would she let her parents know and then we would become rivals?
I shook my head. It wasn't possible for her to inform her parents because then they would be mad at her for rejecting me without consulting them and also for no apparent reason.
Sighing, I made my way downstairs to the servant quarters.
"Your majesty!" The head servant gasped upon sighting me walk through the gates of the servant quarters. "What brings you to our humble abode?"
"I am here to search for you. I do have a request."
"Oh? I am all ears— and ready to serve Your Majesty," she replied with a pleasant smile.
"I am sure that the news of the Alpha and Beta of the Moonstone pack are here today... Earlier than the said date." I began, cocking my head to determine her expression.
"Ah yes, I heard about it!" She smiled. "How may we be of service? There are maids assigned to their quarters, right?"
"Yes, but tonight I would like you to host a very pleasant dinner for our families. The food, and decorations, should be top-notch. You shall also help my Luna to prepare..."
"It will be my pleasure, Your Majesty," she said excitedly. "I will make sure not to disappoint you."
"That will be appreciated," I smiled at her, taking the back of her hand and placing a kiss on it.
"Of course." She smiled excitedly. "I'll get to it right away. You don't even have to worry about supervising, everything will be just perfect— do you want a theme for the dinner? Anything in mind?" She asked.
