Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 89: Tiana Effect

**Derek's POV**

I blinked rapidly, the wave of her scent suddenly making me feel tipsy. I was intoxicated and rolled my eyes back in pleasure, and then it started. My heart began to beat erratically. Tiana was here, under the same roof I was going to be for the next few days. Was I going to be able to see her?

How had she even ended up being here? I asked myself.

"Derek you seem distracted," my father commented as we walked into the pack house together. "It's nothing," I mumbled, avoiding his gaze. I turned to the left, towards the direction of the Beta and his son Viktor, wondering if they could recognize the scent of Tiana.

There was nothing on their expression to betray that they could perceive her scent and then I wondered for a moment, what kind of father who claimed to love his daughter could not recognize her scent which was so distinct.

I took in a deep breath, walking closer to Theo just to ask if there had been anyone who came seeking refuge in their pack about seven months ago but as I moved near him, I could smell Tiana on him.

My hands clenched into fists but I managed to control my anger. If she was in the pack house, it meant that she would have met him. I wondered if she was a servant here and happened to serve the Alpha.

"So tell us about your mate Theo," I asked, plastering a friendly smile on my face. "You seem very happy— a glow that can't be explained is all around you."

"I would call it the Tiana effect," he said, a blush creeping up his face. I froze as he mentioned the name. Could it be the same Tiana I had rejected that has become his mate? I looked at the beta again, wondering if he had heard Theo mention Tiana.

"Is she from your pack?" Ealy Neville asked, his ears perking up at the mention of the name. It could only mean he had perceived her scent as well so the name made him curious.

"Yes," he said proudly. "She is from our pack."

"Born and bred?" I asked with a raise of my brows. For some reason, I did not believe him.

"Who are her parents? Are they of noble blood?" Ealy Neville asked at the same time.

"Well," he sighed, leading us down a corridor. "She is originally a refugee. She was being attacked by rogues close to our border."

"Oh? Where's she from?" I asked, my heart pounding. I was praying in my heart to the moon goddess that it was all a coincidence and it was not the same Tiana that I had been mated to.

"These are the quarters we have prepared for your family," he said, opening the door at the end of the corridor. We were led out to an open space and then a large bungalow sat there, surrounded by ornamental flowers. "There are maids to attend to everything. I do have some things to attend to at the moment, but I will be sure to come back with my father for a proper welcome."

He was avoiding the topic, I could tell. That could only mean there was something about her past that he did not want other people from other packs to know about whether they were allies or not.

She was originally a refugee but an Alpha was not allowed to marry outsiders except she was of noble blood. Did he know Tiana was of noble blood? From our pack? Or was it his love for her or how strong their mate bond was that made him want her nevertheless?

But that couldn't matter because his father's decision was supposed to be supreme. It meant his father knew who she was, but why hadn't he sent a message to our pack that he had one of our own?

I shook my head. I knew Alpha Roman well enough and that meant he hadn't known. But why had he accepted a refugee to be the future Luna of the pack? Was Theo that strong-headed to go against his father's will?

Moreover, when Tiana had left our pack, she couldn't summon her wolf. She was unable to transform. Has she been able to transform now? If not, did Theo's father know about it?

How on earth was she a Luna supposed to perform certain duties and attend ceremonies if she could not summon her wolf?

My father seemed oblivious to everything. He chose a room to settle in, leaving the rest of us standing in the living area.

"Are you thinking what I am thinking?" Ealy Neville asked, his voice hoarse and eyes teary. "What if it is our Tiana? My daughter."

I nodded solemnly. "Her scent is here. I smelt it on him as well, she's the one." My voice came out as a strangled sob. I fought back the tears threatening to spill. I had no idea why I was teary-eyed. Tiana was safe, she had found refuge here and was going to live a good life with the Alpha but it broke my heart.

"So she ended up with another Alpha," Viktor mumbled. "It was her destiny to become a Luna one day."

"I'm sorry," I breathed. This time, I couldn't fight it. The tears dropped from my eyes. "Will the two of you ever forgive me? I allowed my pride to take control of me and refused to see Tiana for Tiana."

"It is alright son," Ealy Neville smiled at me. "It was our fault as well, we never made her feel like she belonged so she would have run away irrespective of you rejecting her."

"Do you think she would want to see us?" Viktor asked with a sigh. "She would hate us. She has every right to."

"She would hate me the most," I whispered, another tear sliding down my face. Nothing else could be compared to the pain of your mate rejecting you.
