Rebirth Of The Rejected Luna Chapter 135: Secret Meeting

**Erika’s POV**

The morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over my mother's chambers. Lady Althea sat in front of her mirror, brushing her long hair with smooth, gentle strokes. Her face was calm, but her eyes seemed distant, lost in thought. I sat at a small wooden table nearby, my fingers tracing patterns on the surface without thinking.

My mind kept wandering back to the night before, the Constellation Room, Alpha Corvin... I was also annoyed by him interrupting my time with Carlo.

Carlo had come back afterwards but he didn't seem like himself which was probably due to whatever disturbing thing Alpha Corvin had told him. He also seemed like he could not face me— like he was avoiding my eyes for some strange reason that I could not fathom.

I had asked him severally but of course, his response was quite vague and he responded that he was tired and would like to go to bed. Of course, it annoyed me but I didn't push and argue. I knew that being with Alpha Corvin could be draining let alone someone who was his Beta and greatly indebted to the Alpha.

Just then, a sharp knock at the door broke the silence, pulling me out of my thoughts.

One of the palace attendants stepped in, bowing slightly before extending a neatly folded letter. "A message for you, Lady Erika."

I took it, my fingers lingering over the wax seal—a deep crimson with the emblem of the Lycan seal. My stomach twisted slightly.

Alpha Corvin had sent me a letter, something he had never done before.

I broke the seal and unfolded the letter. My eyes skimmed the words, my heart thudding as I read:

*Lady Erika,*

*I trust this letter finds you well.*

*Upon our last conversation, you inquired whether I had knowledge of the kinship between your mother and my wife. At the time, I withheld my response, not out of ignorance, but out of a desire to maintain peace between them. However, upon further reflection, I believe it is only right to address the matter with complete honesty. Yes, I have long been aware of their bond as sisters. My silence was never meant to deceive but to prevent reopening old wounds that time has struggled to mend.*

*In light of recent events, I have come to recognize something undeniable. That you possess great strength, intelligence, and resilience. These are rare and valuable traits, and I believe my daughter, Elara, could benefit greatly from your presence. She has much to learn, and I am of the opinion that your influence may shape her into someone of equal strength.*

*Therefore, I extend an invitation to you and your mother to join us for dinner this evening. It is my hope that, through shared company, old grievances may be set aside and that the bond between your mother and my wife might be restored. Families are stronger when united, and I see no reason for past misunderstandings to continue defining the present.*

*I trust you will accept this invitation in good faith, and I look forward to your presence and that of your mother at my table.*

*Alpha Corvin*

I stared at the letter, my eyes glued to the last line. Dinner. With Alpha Corvin. And his wife. I felt like I'd been hit with a ton of bricks. This was so not what I expected after last night.

I looked up to see my mom staring at me, her brush frozen in mid-air. Her voice was super calm, but I could tell she was freaking out inside. "What does it say?" she asked. I hesitated for a second before handing her the letter. She took it and started reading, her eyes scanning the page.

I watched her, waiting to see how she'd react. Her jaw clenched, and for a split second, I saw a flash of emotion on her face. She was annoyed or worried or something. But then she covered it up, setting the letter down with precision. Her face was calm again, but I knew she was totally freaking out on the inside.

I sat forward. “Mother?”

She didn’t look at me.

Instead, she stood up suddenly, smoothing out her dress as if that would calm her down. "I need some air," she muttered before quickly walking out of the room without saying another word. Something was definitely off. She never acted like this. Without thinking, I got up and followed her, trying to be quiet and stay out of sight.

She moved quickly and confidently through the hallways, her shoulders tense. I had to hurry to keep up with her. The castle was huge, but I knew it pretty well. Still, I had to stay focused to avoid being seen. It wasn't long before she reached the hallway that led to the Lunar's chambers. My heart started racing. What was going on? Why was she going to see the Lunar?

I slowed down, my breath catching in my throat. The Luna was waiting. I could sense it. A shiver ran down my spine as I hesitated, wondering what to do next.

Her silver hair shimmered under the dim light of the corridor, her expression unreadable as she met my mother’s gaze. They didn’t speak immediately.

Then, as if sensing I was lurking nearby, the Luna's piercing gaze flickered in my direction. I pressed myself against the cold stone wall, my heartbeat hammering in my chest as I hoped I wouldn't be seen. Without a word, the Luna turned and led my mother inside her chambers. The door shut behind them, and I was left standing there, straining my ears to hear something. But I was too far away.

I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. The way my mother had reacted to that letter, the way she had rushed straight to the Luna's chambers... it all seemed so suspicious. I exhaled slowly, stepping back into the shadows before turning away. I didn't know what was going on, but I was determined to find out.

And I knew I would.
