Her CEO Stalker and Her Second Chance Mate Chapter 131
Mazzie
I was worried about Carter. He was barely eating. Living on coffee and by the look of his living room he was drinking and not in a fun way. Bottles laid forgotten on the table. His eyes held a vacant quality to them, like he was empty. I knew he let his wolf run at night and that he wasn’t even sleeping here. He spent his nights curled up on Briar’s porch.
Everytime my phone pingged, anxiety rushed through me. I was waiting for my Alpha’s call to tell me when this poor excuse for a man would be entering our territory. I was glad he hadn’t given that order yet but the wait was daunting. It could happen at any time.
If I had any doubts before that Briar was Carter's mate, I had no reason to think so now. His physical state was deteriorating. Each day more of himself vanished. This was going to drive him into madness if we didn’t figure it all out soon.
My phone buzzed and I jumped. I had just let myself into Carter’s place, but he was nowhere to be found.
Lana: She found her
The video message after that was of Briar at the punching bag, instead of hitting it with fury like the last time every punch and kick was forcefully strategic. Lana was right but if so it was time Briar knew what she was. If Carter didn’t tell her I would. Nobody deserved to find out alone like that.
Mazzie: I think your right
Lana: Shes so fucking strong
Mazzie: dominate genes
Lana: There's more to it, she has survived hell, she's taking her life back and her wolf is not going to back down. I have to tell you what happened today
Mazzie: WTF happened
Lana: she dragged Miranda out of the pizza place by her hair and told her if Carter really wanted her all he had to do was come find her but he didn’t
I shook my head with a smile
Mazzie: I can just visualize her doing that
Lana: well half the town saw it cuz she dragged her outside around lunch time
Mazzie: Just what everyone needs to see, the rot in this pack being taken down
Lana: She's awesome
Mazzie:Yes she is
Lana was crushing hard on Briar but that wasn’t unexpected. She fell into the love and beauty of women finding their strength. She may make comments but I knew Lana well enough. She admired Briar. It wasn’t as sexual as she made it sound. I wasn’t jealous. I admired her too. When I found Lana, battered and bruised she was a ghost of a person. It had taken a lot to get her to here. To be that person who masked her pain but lived. Maybe seeing Briar rise would do it for her. Free the few still burdened and battered parts of her soul. I understood Carter’s position more than he realized. I’d move mountains for Lana. I’d give him a week. If they hadn’t come together or spoken I’d step in. I couldn’t watch this go on much longer.
Now I understood why Carter had been so absorbed with Briar, she had been so much worse off when she came here. Battered, bruised and fighting that bond with a psychopath with everything she had. Even since meeting her finally I had seen the change in them both. There was no other answer and I’d do whatever it took, stand by any fucked up decision that would need to be made to keep them together. I had killed for Lana, I know without a doubt Carter would too, but he was going up against a much more formidable enemy then the trash I had rid the world of. He screamed like a fucking little bitch when I put him through some of the shit I knew he put Lana through. Carter wasn’t going to have the luxury of torture. He had to be as strong as possible to even have a chance. So I hoped Briar was doing whatever it was she needed to do to process and get back to him.
