Her CEO Stalker and Her Second Chance Mate Chapter 156
Carter
I didn’t want to leave her, but necessity called. The girls loved Briar, and I trusted them. Rosie sat by her feet and she cradled Tucker like a baby in her arms.
“I’m gonna stop by the house and clean up a bit, check the perimeter of the house every thirty minutes I really shouldn’t go, but I’m not taking her back to that house right now, especially with it like it is. And I most definitely am not taking her into town I want her laying low. I’ve loaded all the guns, theres one in every room. Briar is a good shot the second anything goes amiss get a gun in her hand,” I mumbled to Mazzie while Lana had Brair distracted. I didn’t want to scare her anymore then I knew she was, it flowed through the bond in waves.
I had gotten Colten to clear the porch of the carnage when I messaged him earlier today. He was always up for an odd job. I paid him extra to keep it quiet. Not that he was one to go running his mouth. Mazzie just nodded as she watched the two whispering in the kitchen. They were good for each other; we both felt that. It made our hearts swell. I could just tell by the way Mazzie watched them. She would protect Brair with her life, if not for my sake, than for Lana’s.
Mazzie hadn't heard from Clyde about Creedon. I wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or bad one. After lingering with Briar as I gave her a reverant kiss goodbye I headed over to Jake’s place, I started a fire out back and began dragging everything they had pissed and cum all over in the bedroom outside to destroy. The smell was rank, it would take weeks for the lingering scent to dissipate, but the longer I waited to clean it up the worse it would get. Part of me just wanted to burn the whole place down, but it was Jake’s place, and I think I’d get in big trouble with my mate if I set it up in flames. I was spending more time then I intended on the clean up but I didn’t want her to see it like this.
I was sweeping up the mess in Jake’s kitchen when I heard the vehicles pull up. I paused, waiting, ears focusing on the muffled sounds of men’s voices that I didn’t recognize. I shuffled myself into a shadowed corner poised and waiting.
“They are here, lock down the house,” I let Mazzie know before I blocked out everything to focus on what was coming. There were too many of them, but for her….I’d fight to my last breath. Every second I stalled them gave the girls more time to prepare. I watched them stream in, sniffing the air and grimicing. The didn’t notice me in the darkness of the dining room. I pulled my gun from its place at my hip and started firing from the shadows. Every part of me focused on my prey, my eyes shifted to the wolf for maximum precision. These fuckers were after my family, I wasn’t going down without a fight. Five men fell in tandem before I found my clip empty and I was rushed by several others. I let my claws extend, seeking to tear flesh.
“I want him fucking alive,” a deep voice called from the front doorway.
I sank my claws into one man’s gut, ripping entrails out and leaving them in a pile on the floor as he dropped; it was meant to be a death blow, he wasn’t going to be able to heal from that. Two more came at me from either side. I went for the first, sinking my claws into his throat and ripping it open, but I was too late to counter the second. One moment I was turning towards him and the next something stuck into my neck, and fire ran through my veins. Wolfsbane! Mother fuckers, it surged into my system, and my limbs became limp. Laced with a sedative. And suddenly I realized, I had just become her weakest link as pain shattered through me from a blow to the head, and everything went dark.
