Her CEO Stalker and Her Second Chance Mate Chapter 171
Briar
“I owe you a basket full of baked goods and my mate’s life,” I told her. She just smiled.
“Don’t mention it, but I’ll hold you to those baked goods though,” she insisted with a laugh before she and her crew disappeared. Creedon’s blood was drying on my skin. How had Carter stomached kissing me like this? That’s right, it was’ hot’. I shook my head at the thought, surprised I wasn’t more bothered, I should be grossed out.
Byron set my bag down next to me and I mouthed a thank you. When I looked back at Carter he was watching me, a soft smile on his face.
“What?” I asked.
“Look at you making friends in unexpected places,” he teased as he tried to smile, but a cough racked him.
I gripped his hand as the fit took him, he squeezed back hard, the pain evident in his features.
“I’ll explain that later,” I promised.
“You need to see Dr. Thomas,” Mazzie insisted.
“No,” Carter protested in between his wheezing.
“Can’t involve the pack,” he said as the fit subsided.
My worried eyes met Mazzies.
“We have to go back, I need to see how he plays this out. We have information to retrieve and Carter is going to see a Doctor whether he likes it or not.” I told Mazzie before giving Carter the stink eye.
“Briar,” Carter started to protest.
“No! You said he was most likely testing me, well if I didn’t pass with flying colors, there is a serious problem. Not to mention he will know what went down here one way or another,” I insisted before I turned to Byron.
“Did you bring your truck,” I asked.
“Yes ma’am, but it’s on the other side of the woods,” he informed me.
“Hes not going to make a bike ride back, can you take us home?”
“Of course,” he said motioning for Larson to follow him as he walked out the back.
“You should see the Dr too Briar,” Lana pointed out.
“I’m fine,” I insisted. I could already feel the claw marks knitting together.
“You may be, but the baby,” she reminded me.
The other guys from the shop eyes went wide, their nostrils flaring. Their eyes searching each other’s stunned before they looked back at Carter and me.
“Fine,” was all I said, ending her insistence. I wasn’t used to this pregnancy thing. I had taken a huge risk for us all today. It was stupid, but what else was I going to do? Let my kid grow up on the run without its father. Nope, not a chance.
The back door opened and Latrisha walked in flanked by two broady men.
“So our agreement?” she asked.
“What about it?”
“I’m going to need you to forward the video this little…” she paused her words eyeing Lana who narrowed her eyes back at her. “Anyway I need the video and I need you to make another with you announcing your chain of command.”
“I don’t know Trisha, is my breed a problem to you anymore?” I asked glaring at her. I may have reached out to her out of necessity, but that didn’t mean we had to like each other. The truth was, Latrisha knew the business and the pack, knew how to handle the highranking males and even better, she wanted what I could offer her.
“Lets get this over with,” I said, giving Carter’s hand a squeeze before handing it to Lana, a silent plea to stay with him while I managed the results of my challenge.
Latrisha eyed me from top to bottom.
“You’re looking a little feral, don’t you want to clean up?”
“I don’t have time for that, not to mention they should see their pathetic piece of shit alpha’s blood on me when I address them. Latrisha to her credit just cleared her throat before motioning me to the kitchen not far from the couch. I hopped up onto a barstool and she took place behind the counter facing me as she pulled out her phone. I covered my assets with the jacket but left it open enough that they could see the carnage all over me.
“Attention previous pack members of Creedon MacAlister,” I started. “I have beaten your alpha in a one on one battle. I declare myself your new Alpha. You may think that this must be a mistake, I promise you this isn’t and there is footage to support it which will be supplied to you.”
“I will not be returning to take my place among you at this time; however I am placing Latrisha Hanover as my regent for the time being. This does not mean I will not be an active member of this pack as any high priority matters will be managed by myself with Latrisha’s council and those she places in the hierarchy with my blessing after deliberation.” I let my claws out and tapped them on the counter before choosing what to say about the entier situation. I chose the complete truth.
“Your Alpha was my mate, I wasn’t raised in your world but have found myself since my departure from your Alpha’s employment. When I rejected him before realizing what that was, he beat, drugged and raped me as a human, refusing to accept the rejection. Since then I’ve found my family, my second chance at a mate and obviously my wolf,” I said sporting a fang.
“Creedon came after me when I got away, got ahold of my mate and tortured him, I will not take threats lying down,” I said waving to the blood covering my body. “I will also not accept any member of this pack that had a hand in my mate’s torture any I graciously allow to live will have to work their way up from the bottom of the pack hierarchy like the dogs they are.”
“I am the daughter of an Alpha, and as such I will be addressed as your alpha regardless of being female, Latrisha is my regent and beta, she will take my place as alpha in my absence, however, I will still sit on board meetings and manage the company’s affairs remotely. I still hold favor to all of the accounts Creedon lost that I as a human worked tirelessly to obtain. We are taking this company and this pack into a new direction. If you cannot submit to me I suggest you initiate a pack transfer in the next 48 hours, all transfers will be accommodated without provisions. Do not ask for any, this is your choice and your responsibility to navigate financially and with your receiving pack.” I said finally.
I raised a brow at Latrisha. Who clicked her phone off.
“You speak well to a pack, considering you have only just discovered what you are and have very little experience with.
“I had a little help,” I said grinning at Mazzie who was watching. She nodded in approval.
“Anything else you need Trish?” she shook her head no. “Call me in a few days. I need to take care of my mate,” I said, she nodded in response. I stepped out onto the deck and she and Mazzie followed me. I pointed out three men, the ones that had aided Creedon the most.
“Those three don’t make it back with the rest. No guns, I want to know you can handle yourself.” I told her. She rolled her eyes and walked down the steps to address them.
“Kneel before your alpha,” she snarled, they all fell to their knees except for two. I wasn’t surprised that they were two of the 3 I had marked for death. Latrisha stepped up to the first making him bow under her aura before she took her claw sinking them into his throat. I turned before she finished not needing to see more and went inside. Latrisha could handle herself. My mate needed me.
