Her CEO Stalker and Her Second Chance Mate Chapter 170
Briar
“I underestimated you.” Latrisha said, standing on the deck in her fusha suit.
“Get your dogs in line,” I ordered to her as we passed her, holding up Carter between us.
She gave me a bow of her head.
“As you wish Alpha,” she said demurly. I didn’t know she could be demur. I had wanted her here. At the end of the day, the woman was a “girls” girl disguised as a total bitch. Her eyes shifted to the cluster of men gathered still in shock from their alpha’s demise, as she narrowed her eyes at them, they all flinched. I nodded in approval.
“Nobody leaves,” I stated. Latritsha just nodded surveying her charges as Lana held open the door for us and we slipped inside. I had Latrisha show up for a reason, but right now Carter was all that mattered, others rushed in behind us, our people… not far behind. We laid Carter out on the first couch we saw, his blood stark against the pale cloth as it seeped into it. I fell to my knees next to him, cupping his face. I was barely aware of Lana adjusting Uncle Jake’s jacket over my shoulders to cover my body better, as we were joined by the guys from the shop and a few others that had taken mine or Mazzie’s plea to be here, It seemed they had called a few other trusted friends to join us, I wouldn’t be complaining about that. However my attention was on my mate as I ran my fingers through his hair, I let the rest drown out, my blood still roaring in my ears. He had to be okay.
He took my hand from his hair and placed it on his chest as he interlaced our digits.
“How can I help you?” I pleaded. Instead of responding, his other hand snaked into my hair, pulling my blood covered face to his. His mouth met mine and I dived in, starved for him, feeling his love run through me from the inside out as his emotions bubbled up through the bond. Pride, love, acceptance, relief. It all washed through me in a cocooning wave of solace.
‘I love you,’ his voice echoed in my mind. My heart dropped as it filled with overwhelming emotions ones I had staved off in order to concentrate on the fight, and others so immense they overtook me in a wave of rightness. One fact clear, our bond had finalized. Tears streamed down my cheeks at the beauty of it, along with the release of everything I had pent up. Our bond was complete, I had shifted, by doing so, we had become something more.
I willed to reach for him inside my mind.
‘I love you so much,’ I tried. He deepened the kiss, in response, his tongue running along mine. He heard me! Satisfaction coursed through my being. I felt whole again, impossibly so. It all snapped into place like many pieces of a moving puzzle. Carter had made me whole piece by piece in so many ways over the last several months. He loved me to my core, every broken tattered part of me and I saw all his faults for what they were, the fear of losing me. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I forced myself to pull away.
“How do we get the wolfsbane out?” I asked.
“It has to run its course, as far as I know, I’m not a Dr.” Mazzie said. I bowed my head kissing his knuckles. I wanted a different solution.
“This is all my fault,” I sobbed, burying my face into his shoulder.
His fingers snaked into my hair as I tried to stifle my cries. His fingers strong, given his weakened state, gripped my hair at my nape and forced me to look at him.
“This isn’t your fault baby, I am so lucky my mate is so strong or else I’d be dead, and I won’t lie, watching you best your demons was hot as fuck,” he admitted, causing me to snort. If he could still joke, he’d be ok in time.
“He’s got that right, I’ve never seen a pure silver wolf before, and your wolf is smaller than dominant males but bigger than any other female I know. You’re a badass Briar,” Lana commented. My heart let loose its turmoil. This fight was done, though a new one was on the horizon. My eyes glanced to the men behind me. Byron went to kneel.
“Don’t!” I said holding my hand up to him. Lana and Mazzie had told me at length as we prepared for tonight what was expected of the witnessing pack I had acquired. I couldn’t let my father’s pack pledge fealty to me, not yet. He looked at me confused.
“There are still battles to come,” I said standing, my fingers still laced with Carters as I faced everyone.
“Thank you for coming, I don’t know what else to say right now.” I told the pack that Beck had vetted before I summoned them here. Travis’ pack. A female pushed forward.
“We are glad to be here, call on us any time.” Travis’ wife I realized, recognizing her face from her profile picture that popped up whenever she messaged me, she stood next to him, his arm around her hooking his hand around her hip, seven men behind them. Those must be her brothers.
“Glad we could help, looks like you fit right into Divide,” he said with a smile.
I nodded.
“I will, I promise,” I told her.
“When you are ready, we’ll come, and stand as your witness when the time comes,” she said.
