His Abandoned Luna Chapter 109

|| Lilac’s POV ||

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow over the living room. I sat on the couch, my legs tucked beneath me, a blanket draped over my shoulders. My body still ached from the attack, but the pain was dull now, a constant reminder of how close I’d come to losing everything. Ezra sat beside me, his usual goofy grin plastered across his face as he tried to wrestle the remote control from my hands.

“Come on, it’s my turn! The game is on!” he argued, his voice rising in mock indignation.

“Shut up, let me see the news,” I shot back, holding the remote out of his reach. I flipped through the channels, my fingers pausing as I caught a glimpse of my father on the screen. My heart skipped a beat.

“What’s going on?” Mom asked, her voice tinged with concern as she stepped into the room, a tray of snacks in her hands.

“I don’t know,” I murmured, my eyes glued to the television. I turned up the volume, my stomach churning as I listened to the reporter’s questions.

“We heard about the attack. Did you find anything?” the reporter asked, her voice sharp and probing.

Dad stood tall, his expression grim but composed. “All of them died at the scene. Some of the traces we found are leading back to the Blood Moon Pack. We still don’t know the details. We’ll disclose the truth once we find it.”

The words hit me like a punch to the gut. My world shattered in an instant.

“Dad!” I whispered, my voice trembling.

“What the hell!” Ezra exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief.

“The rogue was still alive yesterday. How did he…?” Mom trailed off, her voice shaking.

“Blood Moon… that’s Alaric’s pack, right?” Ezra added, his tone laced with confusion.

“Why?” I wondered aloud, my mind racing. Why would Dad do this? Why would he lie?

The sound of the front door opening snapped me out of my thoughts. Dad walked in, his face weary but calm. “Hey,” he said, kicking off his shoes.

“Why?” I demanded, my voice rising as I stood up. “Why did you do this?”

Dad’s eyes flicked to the television, then back to us. His expression hardened.

“This was necessary,” he said, his tone firm.

“Necessary?” I shot back, my voice cracking. “Alaric saved me. He saved us! Why would you put the blame on him?”

“You need to stop,” Dad said, his voice low and warning.

“I won’t!” I shouted, my hands clenched into fists. “You can’t blame the innocents!”

“You will,” Dad replied, his voice cold and final. “You won’t see him ever again.”

“You’re insane,” I whispered, my heart breaking. What had happened to the man I used to admire so much? The man who always stood for justice, for truth?

“Benson, why did you lie on national television?” Mom asked, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and fear.

“I had to,” Dad said, his voice heavy with regret. “I didn’t have a choice.”

“You always have a choice,” I said, my voice shaking. “Just make the right one.”

Without another word, I stormed out of the house, my mind a whirlwind of emotions. First Kael’s stunt, and now my own father. They had all turned against Alaric. Things were getting worse, and I didn’t know what to do. My chest felt tight, my thoughts spinning out of control.

As I stepped outside, the cool morning air hit my face, but it did little to calm the storm inside me. My phone rang, and I glanced at the screen. It was Elara.

“Hello?” I answered, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Hey, are you okay? What’s going on? I saw your dad…” Elara’s voice was frantic, her words tumbling over each other.

“I’m fine,” I lied, my voice hollow.

“Listen, Lil, something is wrong,” Elara said, her tone serious.

“I know,” I replied, my voice breaking.

“No, you don’t understand,” Elara said, her words rushed. “The rogue investigation I was doing— we lost all the leads. And now suddenly, everything is pointing toward the Blood Moon Pack. It’s too easy, Lil. I can tell when a lead is planted. There have been so many attacks in one go… there’s no way Alaric could’ve orchestrated them all. It seems like someone is trying to destroy him.”

My breath caught in my throat. “You mean to say someone is targeting him deliberately?”

“That’s right,” Elara confirmed.

“But why?” I asked, my mind racing.

“Who do you think?” Elara said, her voice heavy with implication.

“Kael?” The name slipped out before I could stop it.

“Yes, it’s a possibility,” Elara said. “Everyone at that event saw how Alaric’s wolf dominated Kael. I heard that the Alpha King wanted to suggest Alaric step up instead of Kael.”

“And that’s why…” I trailed off, the pieces falling into place. “Oh, Goddess. Elara, I need to go.”

“Lil, I’m worried about you too,” Elara said, her voice softening. “Everyone is talking about Alaric and you. If Alaric is an eyesore now, they won’t tolerate you either.”

“You mean to say the attack yesterday…” I began, my voice trembling.

“Was just a warning,” Elara finished, her tone grim.

“That explains Dad’s interview as well,” I said, my heart sinking.

“It’s possible he was threatened,” Elara added. “A big scheme is being played here, Lilac. I can sense it.”

“Thanks, Elara. I gotta go now,” I said, cutting the call.

I stood there, the world around me a blur. The pieces of the puzzle were coming together, but the picture they formed was terrifying. Kael was behind this. Probably Cassandra was helping him too. He was trying to destroy Alaric, to eliminate any threat to his throne. And now, my father had been dragged into it.

My head was spinning, the weight of the revelation pressing down on me. The story had changed, and I was back at square one.
