|| Third-party POV ||

The Reventhorn Castle was cloaked in an air of tension, the kind that made even the walls seem to hold their breath. Darius had called for an urgent meeting, summoning Alpha Asher, Alpha Daren, and Alexander to his study. Benson was already there, his presence a storm of barely contained rage and desperation. The rogue they had captured sat bound and silent in the corner, his expression blank, his eyes devoid of any emotion. He was a ghost, a shadow, a tool used and discarded by someone far more dangerous.

The room was heavy with the weight of unspoken fears and unanswered questions. Benson stood by the window, his arms crossed, his jaw clenched so tightly it looked like it might shatter. Darius sat at the head of the table, his expression grave, while Asher and Daren exchanged uneasy glances. Alexander leaned against the wall, his usual calm demeanor replaced by a sharp, focused intensity.

“We need to find her,” Benson said, his voice low but filled with urgency. “Every second we waste is another second she’s in danger.”

“We’re doing everything we can,” Darius replied, his tone steady but laced with frustration. “But we need a plan. Charging in blindly won’t help anyone.”

“The rogue isn’t talking,” Benson growled, gesturing toward the bound figure. “He’s a dead end. We need another lead.”

“Then we need to look elsewhere,” Daren said, his voice calm but firm. “Someone is orchestrating this, and they’re good at covering their tracks.”

Before anyone could respond, the door to the study burst open, slamming against the wall with a force that made everyone jump. Alaric stood in the doorway, his presence like a thunderclap in the already tense room. His eyes burned with a feral intensity, his aura radiating a dangerous, almost palpable energy. Hunter, his wolf, was close to the surface, his growl a low, menacing rumble in the back of Alaric’s throat.

“What are you doing here?” Darius demanded, his voice sharp but tinged with surprise.

Alaric didn’t answer immediately. His eyes swept the room, taking in the faces of everyone present before landing on the bound rogue. His jaw tightened, his fists clenching at his sides.

“It’s been one and a half days,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “Where the fuck is she?”

“This has nothing to do with you,” Benson snapped, stepping forward. His own wolf stirred, the tension between the two wolves crackling like electricity.

Alaric ignored him, his focus entirely on the rogue.

“I want to see the one you’ve caught,” he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

“How do you know about the rogue?” Benson asked, his voice filled with suspicion. “No one outside this room knows.”

Alaric didn’t answer. Instead, he strode across the room, his movements quick and deliberate. He stopped in front of the rogue, his eyes narrowing as he leaned in, his nose inches from the man’s neck. He inhaled deeply, his wolf’s senses sharp and unrelenting. The faintest trace of lavender—Lilac’s scent—hit him first, followed by something else, something he couldn’t quite place. And then, there it was. Faint, almost imperceptible, but unmistakable. Sandalwood.

Alaric’s jaw clenched, his eyes darkening with fury. He straightened, his gaze sweeping the room.

“So, that's that, huh?” he asked, his voice cold and deadly.

No one answered, but he didn’t need them to. He already knew.

“Alaric, what are you doing?” Darius asked, his voice cautious but firm. He could feel the shift in his son, the way Hunter’s presence was growing stronger, more volatile.

"He took her. Your precious little pup," Alaric said.

"What?" Darius was startled.

Alaric turned to face them, his eyes blazing.

“Listen up,” he said, his voice low but carrying the weight of a storm. “I’m not here to save the damsel. I’m the storm, the curse whispered in nightmares. And if even a single strand of her hair is harmed, I will reduce this world to ash and ruin.”

The room fell silent, the weight of his words hanging in the air like a blade poised to strike. His aura intensified, the pressure in the room growing almost unbearable. Hunter was close, so close to taking over.

“Tell your precious Kael to be prepared,” Alaric continued, his voice a growl. “One scratch on her skin will be returned as ten lashes on his back.”

“What are you saying?” Benson demanded, stepping forward. His own wolf was stirring, the tension between the two Alphas reaching a breaking point.

“Don’t play dumb,” Alaric snapped, his eyes locking onto Benson’s. “I can smell him. Faint, but it’s there. Sandalwood. See for yourself.”

The room erupted into chaos, voices overlapping as everyone tried to make sense of Alaric’s words. But he was already turning to leave, his movements quick and purposeful.

“Alaric, wait!” Darius called, his voice sharp.

Alaric paused at the door, his back to the room. “Don’t worry,” he said, his tone cold. “I’m not going after your pup right now.”

“I’m coming with you,” Alexander said, stepping forward. His voice was calm, but his eyes were sharp, focused. “You know where she is, don’t you?”

Alaric glanced at him, his expression unreadable. “Just don’t get in my way.”

Benson didn’t hesitate. He followed them out of the room, his mind racing. If Alaric had a lead, he wasn’t about to let him go alone. Not when Lilac’s life was on the line.

As they left the castle, the storm clouds gathering overhead seemed to mirror the tension in the air. Alaric moved with a predator’s grace, his every step deliberate, his focus unwavering. Alexander and Benson followed, their own wolves stirring, the urgency of the situation pressing down on them.

“Where are we going?” Benson asked, his voice tight with frustration.

“To find her,” Alaric replied, his tone clipped. “will follow the rogue's trail. And to make sure whoever took her regrets it.”

The words sent a shiver down Benson’s spine, but he didn’t argue. Right now, he didn’t care about Alaric’s methods. All he cared about was finding his daughter.
