|| Lilac's POV ||

The darkness was suffocating. I lay still, my body aching, my mind a whirlwind of fear and desperation. I had to find a way out. Slowly, the sharp edges of pain began to dull, and my eyes adjusted to the dim light. The room—if you could even call it that—was cold and damp, the air thick with the scent of mildew and rust. It felt like an abandoned dungeon, the kind of place where screams would echo endlessly, unheard by the outside world.

I couldn’t tell if I was still near the capital or if they’d taken me far away. The only thing I knew for certain was that I wasn’t alone. Two rogues stood guard, their presence a constant reminder of my helplessness.

I stayed still, my breathing shallow, my body tense. Runa was still missing, which meant I was on my own. My hands and legs were free. Which was good. They’d probably underestimated me. Or maybe they thought their drugs were enough to keep me subdued. Either way, it was a mistake—one I intended to capitalize on.

My eyes scanned the room, searching for anything I could use as a weapon. In the corner, I spotted a bucket, its metal surface glinting faintly in the dim light. It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing.

Goddess, help me,

I thought silently, my heart pounding as I slowly sat up. Every movement sent a fresh wave of pain through my body, but I forced myself to stay quiet, to move stealthily. I couldn’t afford to make noise, not yet.

I reached for the bucket, my fingers trembling as they closed around the handle. The metal was cold against my skin, a stark contrast to the heat of my fear. I took a deep breath, steadying myself, and then I moved.

The bucket scraped against the floor, the sound sharp and metallic, cutting through the silence like a knife. My heart stopped for a moment, my breath catching in my throat.

“She’s awake,” one of the rogues said, his voice lazy and unconcerned.

I didn’t give them a chance to react. I lunged forward, swinging the bucket with all my strength. It connected with the first rogue’s head with a sickening thud, and he stumbled back, his hand flying to his temple.

The second rogue was faster. He rushed toward me, a syringe in his hand, his eyes gleaming with malice. I swung the bucket again, but he dodged, the syringe slipping from his grasp and clattering to the floor. I grabbed it, my fingers closing around the cold metal, and plunged it into his thigh.

He screamed, a raw, guttural sound that echoed through the dungeon, before collapsing to the ground, unconscious. But the first rogue was already recovering, his eyes narrowing as he lunged at me.

I tried to fight, to push him away, but he was stronger. He pinned me down, his weight crushing me, his breath hot and foul against my face.

“Feisty, aren’t you?” he sneered, his voice dripping with mockery. He grabbed my wrists, his grip like iron, and snapped silver chains around them. The metal burned, searing my skin, and I cried out in pain.

“I love your scent,” he said, leaning closer, his nose brushing against my hair. The sensation made my stomach churn, a wave of disgust washing over me.

“I wonder if you’ll taste as good as you smell,” he whispered, his tongue flicking against my earlobe.

“Don’t touch me!” I screamed, my voice trembling with fear and rage.

He laughed, the sound low and cruel, as he dragged me to the corner of the room. “Even if I do, no one will know,” he whispered, his breath hot against my ear.

“Stay away from me!” I yelled, my voice breaking.

“Are you scared now, little wolf?” he taunted, his grin widening. He was feeding off my fear, reveling in my helplessness.

“He will destroy you,” I spat, my voice filled with venom.

“Who?” he laughed, his grip tightening on my hair. “Your mate? He’s still in the hospital, isn’t he?”

His laughter echoed through the dungeon, a sound that sent shivers down my spine. His hands moved, and I felt the cold bite of silver chains around my legs, binding me even tighter.

“You’ll regret this,” I said, my voice trembling but filled with defiance.

He grabbed my face, his fingers digging into my cheeks painfully. “I heard you’re quite a seductress,” he sneered. “How about I have a taste?”

Before I could respond, the door creaked open, and another rogue stepped in. “What are you doing?” he asked, his voice sharp.

“Just playing a bit,” the first rogue replied, his tone casual.

“Why is she up? Sedate her,” the newcomer ordered.

“She’s pretty,” the first rogue said, his grin widening. “Don’t you want a taste?”

The second rogue hesitated, his eyes scanning me with a predatory gleam. “We can play a little,” he said finally, his voice low and dangerous.

Fear surged through me, cold and paralyzing. I was tied up, defenseless, my wolf still missing. I couldn’t fight them, not like this.

“Don’t touch me,” I said, my voice trembling.

“Don’t worry,” the first rogue said, his tone mocking. “We’ll be gentle.”

I cowered against the wall, my body trembling as I tried to get away from them. But there was nowhere to go. My back hit the cold stone, the impact sending a sharp pain through my body.

Alaric

, I thought desperately, my mind screaming for him.

Where are you? Didn’t you say you’d protect me? I need you… now!

But there was no answer. Just the cold, the dark, and the rogues closing in.
