His Abandoned Luna Chapter 97
|| Third-party POV ||
“I said you lack manners,” Alaric replied, his tone icy. “Especially when you’re in public.”
“You’re the one dancing with your brother’s fiancée,” Kael shot back, his voice rising. “And you’re talking about manners?”
“I am not your fiancée!” Lilac’s voice rang out, sharp and clear, silencing the room. Her eyes burned with anger as she faced Kael. “You ended that the moment you walked out on me during our engagement ceremony. You left me alone to deal with the entire crowd while you carried your mate away.”
Kael’s face flushed with anger and embarrassment. “I apologized, didn’t I? How many times do I have to apologize?”
“An apology doesn’t erase what you did,” Lilac shot back, her voice trembling with frustration. “You humiliated me, and my family, Kael. You made me a laughingstock. And now you think you can just waltz back into my life like nothing happened?”
"You are mine, Lilac, whether I have a mate or not, you belong with me," Kael’s composure shattered. He stepped forward, his hand reaching for Lilac again, but Alaric was faster. He moved between them, his body shielding Lilac from Kael’s grasp.
“Enough, Kael,” Alaric said, his voice low and dangerous. “Don’t forget your place.”
Kael’s eyes blazed with fury. “Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? You’re just a banished son. I’ll show you your place.”
He lunged at Alaric, but Alaric sidestepped him with ease, catching Kael’s arm and twisting it behind his back. Kael let out a grunt of pain, his face contorted with rage and humiliation.
“Stand down, Kael,” Alaric’s voice boomed through the hall, his aura expanding like a storm. The air grew heavy, the pressure of his power pressing down on everyone in the room. Even the other alphas felt it, their wolves cowering in submission. Alaric’s presence was overwhelming, his dominance undeniable. He wasn’t just an alpha... he was a force of nature, a Nightshade, the true king. The country may not know that, but they could feel it very well.
Kael dropped to his knees, his body trembling under the weight of Alaric’s power. His wolf submitted, unable to withstand the sheer force of Alaric’s dominance. Kael looked broken. The room was silent, the tension so thick it was almost suffocating.
“Enough, Alaric.” The Alpha King’s voice cut through the silence, sharp and commanding. He stepped between his two sons, his presence a stark contrast to the raw power radiating from Alaric. On one side stood Alaric, tall and unyielding, his anger simmering just beneath the surface. On the other side knelt Kael, his face red with humiliation, his body still shaking from the force of Alaric’s aura.
Luna Cassandra rushed to Kael’s side, her hands fluttering over him as she helped him to his feet.
“Kael, son, are you alright?” she asked, her voice trembling with worry.
“I’m fine,” Kael gritted out, though his eyes burned with humiliation and rage. He couldn’t believe it— he, a contender for the Alpha King title, had been forced to his knees by his banished half brother. The insult was unbearable.
“Alaric, what are you doing here?” Cassandra demanded, her voice sharp as she tried to shift the blame. “You should know better than to entangle yourself with her. Don’t you know their history?”
“Everyone in the country knows their history, thanks to your son,” Alaric replied, his tone cold and cutting.
Cassandra’s eyes narrowed, but she pressed on. “How could you break your brother’s heart like this? You’re damaging his image before everyone.”
Alaric scoffed, his lips curling into a bitter smile. “Your son doesn’t need me to damage his image. He’s doing a fine job of that on his own.”
“Alaric, enough,” the Alpha King said, his voice firm but weary. He turned to Kael, his expression stern.
Lilac stepped forward. Her hand curled around Alaric’s arm, her touch gentle but firm.
“Alaric, calm down,” she whispered, her voice soft but urgent. Her eyes were filled with worry, and for a moment, Alaric’s anger wavered. He took a deep breath, the scent of lavender calming his frayed nerves.
“I’m sure Alaric didn’t mean any harm,” Lilac said, turning to the Alpha King and Luna Cassandra. She bowed her head slightly, her voice steady despite the tension in the room. “I’m sorry for causing trouble.”
Alaric’s jaw tightened, his voice cold as he spoke. “Don’t apologize to them.”
The Alpha King sighed, his expression softening as he looked at Lilac.
“I know he meant no harm,” he said, his tone conciliatory. “And the engagement between Lilac and Kael has been over for months. She did nothing wrong.”
Lilac blinked, surprised by the Alpha King’s words. She hadn’t expected him to defend her, but she wasn’t about to question it. The Alpha King turned to Kael, his expression stern. “As for you, we have much to talk. We need to discuss your place as a contender with the council.”
Kael’s face became pale. His voice didn't come out.
"Darius, he is our son," Cassandra’s voice chimed in desperation.
"And that's more of a reason we discipline him in time," the Alpha King replied. His voice was final.
